Staff Augmentation for Cybersecurity Company
the project
"On an organizational level and an employee-specific level, their responsiveness is unmatched within their industry."
the reviewer
the review
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the VP of engineering at a cybersecurity company. We’re focused on human risk management rather than machine risk, specifically cybersecurity awareness training for employees.
What challenge were you trying to address with WeSoftYou?
Our company was growing and we needed to scale up operations quickly.
What was the scope of their involvement?
They’re building a number of very critical products for us, operating similarly to our internal teams. They work on front- and backend development in Python. Since we offer AWS cloud-native solutions, we trust them to be familiar with the parameters of cloud development as well. We work with them on a daily basis.
What is the team composition?
Day-to-day, we work with Eugen (Project Manager). He actively works with us to make sure that their team’s actions are aligned with our goals. We’ve also worked with Maks (CEO & Founder), Andrew (Head of Product Development), and Viktoriia (Delivery Director & VP of Engineering).
How did you come to work with WeSoftYou?
We had looked at a number of potential firms but ended up going with them because we weren’t interested in a traditional outsourcing relationship. Rather, we wanted a collaborative staff augmentation model for this partnership. We were confident they could provide us with this level of service.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve spent between $300,000–$350,000 with them so far.
What is the status of this engagement?
We’ve worked together since December 2019.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Their work has directly contributed to our revenue growth. We’ve grown our company by about 300% over the past 18 months, which we wouldn’t have been able to do without their support. Their team has delivered an average of 4.1 weekly commits, which outpaces the industry average of 3.5. Additionally, they’ve helped us increase our code coverage from 20% to 50%.
I’ve managed a number of outsourcing relationships in my career, and they’ve really stood out to me. Oftentimes, external firms force you to conform to their set processes, which can derail overall efficiency. WeSoftYou, on the other hand, has worked diligently to understand our goals. Based on this understanding, they’ve morphed their practices to fit our needs.
How did WeSoftYou perform from a project management standpoint?
Everything’s gone well. We’ve used Jira for project management purposes and Slack for daily communication.
What did you find most impressive about them?
On an organizational level and an employee-specific level, their responsiveness is unmatched within their industry. They can quickly find both potential problems and legitimate solutions.
Are there any areas they could improve?
Their team is constantly improving, so I can’t think of anything. They’ve grown tremendously over the course of our engagement.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Do everything you can to include their team in the day-to-day operations of your organization. If you ensure they understand the needs of your customer and the purpose of the project, they’ll remain dedicated to delivering a strong product.

Please describe your company and your position there.
Colin Stuart, CEO at BakerStuart. We are a workplace consultancy, helping clients utilise their real estate assets to improve the performance of their business and wellbeing of employees.
For what projects/services did your company hire WeSoftYou, and what were your goals?
We undertake analysis of a client's business, their property portfolio and the opinions and working styles of their employees to create data to help optimise performance. We have developed an extensive toolset we use but wanted to digitise this to make the process more streamlined, efficient and consistent and improve both the results and experience for our clients.
We decided to go the custom development route because the majority of existing solutions were either lacking in ability or intuitive design. WeSoftYou managed to provide design, development, testing, and troubleshooting for our web application.
How did you select WeSoftYou and what were the deciding factors?
We decided we needed specialist help from an experienced company that could cover all aspects of the development we needed, rather than using freelancers. We undertook a detailed search fro suitable companies using platforms such as Upwork and shortlisted 5 for interview.
Our requirements would develop over time so we wanted to make sure we could find an organisation who could work with is and develop the system over a period of time, evolving it as we go. WeSoftYou stood out as a dynamic and flexible organisation who could bring ideas to the table to help improve the ultimate application.
Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.
We started out with an initial kickoff meeting where we brainstormed just to get the ball rolling and for everyone to get a sense of who we are, and to develop the relationships moving forward from there.
They took our ideas and drafted up wireframes, staying very in tune with our changes and providing their own feedback as well, expediting whatever we needed to be completed most urgently to keep the project moving. After that, we’ve underwent a successful Discovery exercise, which helped us form the foundation and set up the bridge between a theoretical concept and factual realization.
Taking into account the complexity of the platform (which has developed and grown considerably since our early ideas as we realised its potential) and our initial ideas, they have helped us take our requirements and guided us through the process of developing those into technical language, system architecture and specifications that could then be used to make our ideas a reality.
How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?
During the initial stages, we worked with a Business Analyst, Designer, and tech team. After we started the Development Phase: we now have an established core team who we work with in close collaboration which comprises a PM, Front-End, Back-End, and QA.
Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?
They have a very skilled team that has been dedicated to our project and has really identified with us. As you would expect, there were the usual bugs but testing and modifications were handled quickly, and WeSoftYou was always highly responsive and resolved them as soon as possible.
They delivered a high-quality product, and we’d work with them again on future projects. The initial part of the application was completed successfully and due to its success, we have added significant new aspects and enhancements to the platform and have a roadmap for ongoing future development with WeSoftYou.
Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timelines.
Initially, I felt that management and reporting of progress against my deadlines could have been improved; however we had made things more complicated by the shifting and developing nature of our requirments.
We worked with the team to implement robust project management controls, utilising Jira and Confluence and the prioritising, planning, reporting, and visibility of progress has been much improved allowing for us as a team together to evolve the project and meet our shifting business needs.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
I really felt that they listened to what we wanted and tried their best to deliver it. If they couldn’t, they would always find another option for us. The developers have been very hands-on and proactive, coming up with their own ideas, suggestions and options. WeSoftYou's team members are incredible problem solvers at their core, they have a wonderful client-first attitude. It was an extremely positive experience.
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
No, nothing comes to mind. After initial improvements in the project management, they are now performing very well to very tight deadlines and fast-moving changing business needs. I’ve been very happy with WeSoftYou’s work throughout the entire engagement.

Please describe your company and your position there.
CEO, Product Owner
For what projects/services did your company hire WeSoftYou, and what were your goals?
We wanted to build an app from end-to-end, including design, frontend and qualityassurance. Since we handled the backend part on our side, we needed all other services. We hired WSU to build a social Networking mobile app that would allow its end-users aneasy and efficient Microblogging with political propositioning, Recording Stories, voting andmaking donations.
How did you select WeSoftYou and what were the deciding factors?
They came referred by a trusted partner. WeSoftYou by far stood out from the rest andshowed great enthusiasm for our initial idea as well as providing thoughts about what wouldbe best for our company.
Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.
WeSoftYou team works hard on iOS and Android apps. The project encapsulated everythingyou would expect from this customer-specific app. After we agreed to the contract, we had weekly meetings to ensure progress on particularmilestones to get the project launched. In the span of about five months, the projectunderwent requirements gathering, high fidelity wireframing, development, and delivery.
How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?
Overall I worked with a team of 5 developers - 2 Front-End React Native developers, PM,QA and Designer.
Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?
WeSoftYou successfully designed, developed, and configured a completely customized appfor us. On top of that, they keyed in some technical information for us, and took the time togo through all of my questions, providing us with updates each week. As a result I have100% working MVP, and wait for the new function to be implemented
Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timelines.
Although we were far apart geographically, it seemed like they were right around thecorner. They were always there when I had questions or suggestions, and we had a freeflow of ideas. The development team helped me and offered constructive advice.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
Beyond simply implementing requirements, WeSoftYou has become a true productpartner. They contribute to feature development and respectfully present alternatives ifthey’re called for, always keeping costs in mind. They prioritize both accessibility and directcommunication.
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
The language barrier was a concern, but they speak English as well as we do, sothat’s never been a problem. We thought it might take a while to orient everyone, but theyjumped right into the work without hesitation. Unlike other agencies that just do what yousay, WeSoftYou will ask questions and push back in order to develop the best productpossible, which we appreciate. Whenever we need to scale up or down, they’reaccommodating and do their best to match our needs.

Please describe your company and your position there.
Social mobile app digitizing the usage of fashion. 2.3Mil MAU. I'm the COO.
For what projects/services did your company hire WeSoftYou, and what were your goals?
We were looking for the development of a React-based CMS system. This would help users to operate quicker with products and other fashion items in the MobileApp
We wanted to revamp our outdated system into the one, which will engage our users with better design, intuitive UX and, overall, will create a better experience for our users.
How did you select WeSoftYou and what were the deciding factors?
I met their CEO, Maksym, at a conference circa 2 years ago. From that time we maintained collaborative relationships and when we saw the opportunity to collaborate with WeSoftYou - immediately contacted Maksym
Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.
At first we had a Discovery Phase, where WeSoftYou team worked on the requirements specifications and building of prototypes for the system. Afterwards, we started the Development Phase, which included the development of a CMS system where users can load, add or delete fashion items for our Mobile App.
The app is now a back-office panel for our business. We continue to work with WeSoftYou on the support type of collaboration and are really happy with them!
How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?
We have cooperated with several members of the WeSoftYou team such as BusinessAnalyst, UX/UI Designer, Tech Lead, Front-End, Project Manager and QualityAssurance Specialist. We had the CTO and Back-End developer on our side, and WeSoftYou kicked off the great communication with them right away.
Overall, everyone involved in either discovery, development and support of Combyne was very professional and great to work with.
Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?
There was a short delay with the delivery of the final CMS system but we were very happy with the result and decided to continue the cooperation further. The delay was caused by some technical difficulties that we overcame with the hands-on help of the CTO of WSY.
Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timelines.
Clear communication and good responsiveness. Any kind of special issue or request was dealt with very swiftly.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
Extremely forthcoming and really working with the customer to address their needs. Beyond that, they were really flexible and always stood ready to work on our brand-new ideas. Easy to communicate with and trusthworthy.
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
From my perspective, it would be slightly better if the developers I worked with had a Back-End acumen as well. However, we solved it on our side and have nothing to complain about

Please describe your company and your position there.
Circle Economy is a social enterprise focused on accelerating the transition to the circular economy. I am a digital product manager responsible for building our digital offering. We build analytical and knowledge dissemination tools that help cities and businesses learn about the circular economy and identify opportunities that are relevant for their context.
For what projects/services did your company hire WeSoftYou, and what were your goals?
As an evolution of our online library of case studies we needed to turn it into a community curated platform, similar to Wikipedia. We hired WeSoftYou to develop the new platform from scratch. We mainly relied on WeSoftYou for technical development but were also glad to have their designers develop initial wireframes and some visual styling.
How did you select WeSoftYou and what were the deciding factors?
We were looking for an integrated digital agency that not only offered a good price/quality ratio - which I mainly judged by reviews online - but that also had the right approach and expertise with designing and building user products, rather than internal IT solutions.
WeSoftYou's proposal included a discovery and design phase led by an expert UX designer. This was one of the deciding factors when choosing between WeSoftYou and equally or even more capable agencies in terms of pure engineering.
Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.
The scope of work included:
- A full discovery phase with a complete wireframe prototype of the entire product in Figma
- Conducting user tests to validate and improve the wireframe prototypes
- Developing a back-end based on Strapi CMS + Elastic search
- Developing a responsive CRUD front-end with nextjs/TypeScript
- Integration with a cloud OAuth provider for user authentication
How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?
During the discovery phase we worked with a business analyst and a UX designer. During the development our primary contact was the project manager and the team consisted of a front-end developer, a back-end developer, a QA tester and a designer.
Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?
WeSoftYou delivered over 90% of the initially planned scope within the budget that we had, as well some additional functionality that was prioritized during the project. I consider it a high number and attribute it to a well done discovery phase and reliable estimations of the development tasks. Furthermore, the delivered code is clean and maintainable. It can be easily taken over by an internal developer.
Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timelines.
The project management was done using a combination of a spreadsheet for high-level overview and planning and Jira for agile task and work management. The process was very agile with bi-weekly demos and weekly demos.
The project manager was always available on Slack and was very knowledgeable about the state of development down to the task level. Furthermore, he did a good job of keeping the scope and estimations realistic and pushing back on "quick and dirty" feature or fixes requests.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
The enthusiasm of the team was impressive. They played a key role in the success of our project.
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
I felt that we could have benefited from more regular involvement of senior technical, design and project management leads to help our young team on one hand to figure things out quicker and, on the other, to hold retrospectives and improve the overall process.
Driving a 300% increase in revenue for the client, WeSoftYou has delivered 4.1 weekly commits and increased code coverage from 20% to 50%. Their flexibility with process augmentation has impressed their partner. The firms communicate via Slack and use Jira for project management purposes.
