We were having several operational difficulties with our site and needed to upgrade it. The previous web developer had built a poor framework, which resulted in issues with the invoicing, online booking, and user portal. With our new website, we sought to provide clients with detailed information about our products in an interactive way. We also wanted to include channels where customers could directly submit any inquiries or requests to us.

Due to the complex nature of our project, we felt that the other vendors couldn’t provide a viable solution, and we didn’t like their approach. In contrast, WebClues listened to our concerns and offered strong solutions to problems that we hadn’t even considered, so we went with them.

They refined our site’s framework using PHP and MySQL to restore the site’s main sections and eliminate bugs. From there, they developed and implemented a host of features, including invoice and booking management, visa processing, and third-party payment integration. The new site also allowed us to send automatic emails and text messages to users in addition to exporting booking data into Excel. Finally, they made the site SEO compatible and resolved any remaining bugs.

What was the team composition?

There were about 4–5 people working on the project, though we mostly interfaced with their team supervisors. When we needed to go into technical detail about the framework, we directly coordinated with the developers. I appreciated that the core team members remained the same throughout the process. As a result, we felt comfortable working with them, and they were professional and friendly.

Because we’re an online tourism company, our business depends on a functional website. Compared to before, we’ve seen more traffic thanks to the new site, and our clients appreciate the renewed framework. We’re confident that our site has become popular with our users.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

They followed a strict timeline and delivered the project according to our expectations. The communication was smooth, and we hardly had any concerns. They used Basecamp to document and circulate all of our communications to the entire team. That way, we didn’t have to repeat anything. We also interacted with them via phone calls and WhatsApp.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

What stood out to us most was their level of dedication and ingenuity when approaching problems. During the development, we had an issue with refunding customers for canceled bookings. However, their team offered us an innovative solution that we hadn’t considered. Beyond that, they’re friendly people, which makes all the difference.

Are there any areas where they can improve?

We didn’t have any specific concerns with the project. Their pricing was competitive, though they could have been more generous with the costs.

What challenge were you trying to address with WebClues Infotech?

We needed an IT partner to develop software for client invoicing, payroll, and shift and roster management.

What was the scope of their involvement?

They created an HR module of our system using PHP. WebClues Infotech built an allocation module for our CRM that automatically detected staff availability, provided from the staff login. The team worked on our CRM and website frontend to give staff, clients, and visitors login capabilities. Staff had their own profiles that both sides could manage and edit. The panel displayed job availability and had an application function. The team created a backend to process those applications. Users get qualification notifications via email or text that links to our system. Once they access a shift, the module removes it from other staff members' pages. Employment data then migrated into an Excel sheet that tracks staff productivity. Web Infotech also built and designed the payroll management software.

We definitely invested in the right software; it has allowed my partner and me to run the company without additional staff. We rent an office for recruiting, but otherwise only use the software on our hiring portal.

Their systematic presentation of features–a timeline, flowchart, workflow diagram, and wireframes–provided clarity on milestones. The team kept workloads manageable by subdividing development into different modules after we approved the features.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The measurable outcome is very limited as the project deliverables were delayed for many faulty development processes they followed which prolonged Agile sprint-1 and up to sprint-10 not completely delivered as per the agreement and there is no control over the project and no responsibility taken by the higher management at any given stage of the project.

None in short. They have a project management style which doesn't fit with the Agile process and they haven't delivered any tested code to the client yet despite spending 10 two weeks sprint. In terms of their response, is to keep the client running around for asking many things but not very often that I get an appropriate action despite loads of communication via email, slack and meetings etc.,

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Impressive in sales pitch and unique about this company is they manage to deliver projects with quality less code and claims it works as expected. Being a technical person myself with over 20 years of IT experience, their tech resources have no idea what they are getting into and stumbled on very much on the quality aspects. With a bare minimum of countable user stories which they executed, they managed to produce over 1,500 sonar and code lint errors and warnings. 

The unique about the company is, that when I asked to rectify the quality issues, their project leader said it was a feature that I should have mentioned before and they went to another level to quote me additional cost to rectify the quality issues and their management personnel also supported this move.

Are there any areas for improvement or something WebClues Infotech could have done differently?

Be honest and transparent, Fail-Fast, Don't make clients to run-around, Train the team on Agile processes, Don't delay deliverables intentionally and many more things that WebClues needs to either learn or implement or do smaller projects and not play with clients' investment like mine.

They did a good job with the communication. Sometimes, I did not always understand the technical pieces, and had to ask the same question again so that I could understand as well.

The dashboard was tough for me to use on different mobile devices. I travel alot, and so I had to wait to respond effectively until I was able to get onto my laptop.
