The accuracy of their estimate, how quickly they created our store and how patient they were whenever we would need to make some changes.

We will definitely ask them to work with us again when we need some new landing pages and the only thing I would change in the way we work is the way I send them feedback. I would ask them if it's possible to use Trello or similar tools.

The Voodoo team worked with us to establish our goals from the outset, which were to stand up an attractive, fairly straightforward website but do it in a custom manner to fit our brand aesthetic and need for functionality. Our goal was to drive more visitors and sales through this website.

We found Voodoo on UpWork and once we had an initial conversation about the scope of our project, we knew we had to hire them to carry out the development of our Shopify website. Our deciding factors were comfort level with our scope, the cost estimate of the project, and the timeline in which they were able to start work and complete the first milestones of the project.

Voodoo developed a completely custom Shopify theme for our new website. They were also responsible for creating functionality for custom user types and adding user-specific features and content permissions. They also created functionality for product variants based on user type, articles visibility based on user type, etc.

One of the key deliverables took place in the initial phase of the project, as the Voodoo team worked tirelessly to deliver the initial critical pages of the website in about 2 weeks’ time - just in time for an important tradeshow we were attending. From there, they consistently released previews for me to review and provide feedback before pushing the item live.

There were 5 individuals from the Voodoo Ecom team working on our project. There was Team Lead, QA, Project Manager, and two Front End Developers.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

One of the main outcomes of the project from the start was our ability to retain functionality of our site, specifically with one product on our site that we were actively generating sales from and didn’t want to shut that functionality down during development. The team accomplished this goal and the process was well articulated by the team.

Ultimately, Voodoo Ecom took the brief, as well as the Figma design for the UX/UI of the website and developed it in Shopify EXACTLY as it was originally designed. This was very impressive, and even our UX/UI Designer commented on how it is very rare in his experience that developers can so closely implement a website to the original design but that Voodoo did an extremely high-end job on our project.

We were impressed by (and very much appreciated) their willingness to build custom features in the backend of Shopify that were designed to allow us to manage our own site and make no-code changes on the fly, without their services. This is something developers are often hesitant to do, but the Voodoo team simply had the best interests of our project and our team in mind at all times.

Overall we cannot recommend Voodoo Ecom enough for the incredible work they’ve done for us and the amazing experience it has been to work with them. It’s been an absolute pleasure. If you’re building a custom Shopify website, it would be a mistake to choose anyone other than Voodoo!

Their project management style met, and often exceeded our expectations. It was simple to communicate with their team. The Project Manager was always available to answer our questions, and we appreciated the clear, detailed ongoing reports. Our stated deadlines were met, and the team was agile in accommodating last minute time-sensitive requests. For keeping in touch, we predominantly used Slack and occasionally Google Meet for video calls.

Aside from their obvious skill when it comes to Shopify development and high-end implementations of a web design, the most impressive thing about the Voodoo team was their positivity, productivity, professionalism, and resilience during our work together considering they are based in the active Russian Invasion zone in Ukraine for the entire duration of our project.

Despite their hardships and challenges, the team never allowed it to get in the way of professional communication with us and rarely did it slow them down. I was impressed with this since day #1.

The only area for improvement I have noticed is to more consistently provide an estimate of cost alongside the estimate of time it will take for each task added to their list on an ongoing basis.
