Blockchain-Based Insurance Software for The World Bank Image

Blockchain-Based Insurance Software for The World Bank

A peer-to-peer platform that facilitates the sale of parametric insurance contracts between its users. There are two types of users – Buyers and Sellers. The buyers are the users seeking insurance and the sellers are one offering the insurance. Currently, the platform has two types of contracts – Weather contracts and Price contracts.

These types of contracts payout when the value of a given parameter

has crossed a predetermined threshold during a time interval with start and end date defined by buyers.
  • Weather contracts: These contracts are dependent on the weather parameters/index for a specific geographical region on a specific date. The insurance is paid if the chosen weather index on the date specified in the contract is below (or above) the threshold specified in the contract. The platform gets external satellite weather data to determine the needed parameters.
  • Price contracts: These contracts are dependent on the price of the crop insured on a specific date.
The insurance is paid if the price of the crop on the date specified in the contract is below the threshold price specified in the contract.

The problem

Currently, farmers can choose from fixed insurance that does not exactly meet their needs. The idea of this platform is to allow every farmer to make an insurance claim by entering which territory is insured and exactly for what parameters and values (too warm, too humid, drought, etc.).

Challenges

Displaying detailed information from a history of 10 years ago about selected metrics (humidity, temperature, prices, etc.) visually understandable. After all, we use the JavaScript library with a lot of tweaks to it.

Results

An online platform that allows farmers to make insurance claims by entering: which land they insure against, what they insure for (temperature does not fall below certain degrees, the temperature does not exceed certain degrees, average humidity is below/above a certain value for time interval) as well as what amount they would like to receive if the adverse conditions listed. Then the insurers have the opportunity to offer for what amount they can conclude an insurance contract. As a final step, the farmer selects an offer and concludes a contract with the insurer (which is recorded in the blockchain).

The client uses this prototype in a series of presentations with governments in Russia, Georgia, Armenia, and Belgium. Having a strong interest in Georgia and Armenia in using this platform.

Techologies: HTML5, CSS3, Javascript, Bootstrap, MySQL, Laravel 5.6 framework (PHP 7.1).

Web Development for a Library Image

Web Development for a Library

A digital archive of Vratsa region - XX century - history, culture, lifestyle, traditions, landmarks

It is an authentic “picture” (through text, sound, photography) of the life of each of the towns and villages in the Vratsa region.

Valuable records, documents, and photographs come out of the oblivion in order to be safeguarded and shown – presented in the best generally accessible way, so that

they can disclose to the contemporary human the “life” of one of the most colorful and interesting, however at the same time one of the poorest and the most depopulated as of today, regions of Bulgaria. The magic of the word, the song, the tradition is now felt in a new way. The beauty and the healing power of nature acquire new dimensions. The simple and deeply touching human messages in personal stories and narratives based on pictures sound and look differently. A panorama of a world which beliefs in the life of the community.

The problem

Over the years, Bulgarian history, folklore, and traditions have been lost little by little. The idea of the platform is to find and preserve, through photographs, documents, stories, and songs, these values from small towns and villages in northwestern Bulgaria.

Challenges

Displaying detailed history information for all cities and villages in Vratsa District. Collect all the information and present it in an easy, accessible, and engaging way for all users.

Results

Protect and popularization of the folklore and history in Vratsa region. This is important because many of the villages in the region are permanently depopulated in recent decades, and a lot of the heritage is often destroyed by negligence, lack of knowledge of their importance, or simply left in the empty houses.

The online platform allows all users to view all municipalities in the Vratsa region. In each municipality, all cities and villages are described in detail. The description includes settlement history, beliefs, and traditions, local stories, local revolutionaries.

Simple and easy way to edit and add new settlements and stories. For every settlement, we can add and edit the texts, pictures, videos and sound records. For the backend is used Laravel on PHP and for the front end is used JavaScript, ajax, jquery, and bootstrap, for the database is used MySQL.

The customer achieves high traffic and interest among consumers. For the first six months of launching the site, visits reached up to 2,000 per week. And overall for the last 12 months (March 2018 – March 2019 according to Google Analytics statistics), the site records the following statistics:

  • Total visitors to the site: 57 750
  • Total Site Views: 84,500
  • Total pages viewed: 212,500
  • Average pages viewed per user: 2.51 pages
  • Average time spent on-site by the user: 2:25 (2 min and 25 sec)

The client received a national award “Hristo G. Danov” in the category “Libraries and library work”. This is the biggest difference in the field of culture.

Web Development for Tourism NGO - 365 Association Image

Web Development for Tourism NGO - 365 Association

365 Association is a local Non-Governmental Organisation in the sector of tourism, culture, and education. Their biggest projects are called Free Sofia Tour and Free Plovdiv Tour. They also stand behind numerous touristic services, such as the Culture, Communist, and Alternative Tours. Also, the Red Flat Museum and #LOVESOFIA – a theater play in English.

The association was on the verge of a big rise in the tourism

sector. Companies such as Wizz Air and Ryan Air started flying regularly to Sofia. This meant a great deal to their team. This opened an opportunity to meet many more tourists in Sofia and Plovdiv on a daily basis. On the other side, their team was still rather small and operated on the principle of voluntary work mostly. Therefore they did not have a lot of resources to invest in their online presence. However, they wanted to step up their online outlook and decided to invest in redesigning their websites. The three websites were 365association.orgfreesofiatour.com, and freeplovdivtour.com.

The problem

The webpages were very outdated. All of them were written on custom code and were not easily accessible for them. The new website would have allowed them to make internal changes and update the information about their services. The main priority of the project, therefore, was redesigning the three websites. WordPress was a great option. It would have given them easy access to the control panel. Implementing ways of booking services online and structuring the internal information presented there in a better, more user-friendly way.

Challenges

Their websites were already using pretty old domains and were scoring very high in google on different searches. They definitely wanted to preserve that, but also make the pages more modern, presentable and user-friendly. Another thing was the implementation of online booking systems, so their customers can book and pay their tours online. The last challenge was to turn the pages into a good structured online portal for information.

Results

Overall the websites started performing much better, loaded much faster, scored even higher in google depending on keyword searches. As a result, they nearly tripled the size of their monthly visitors. Thanks to the booking forms they managed to present and sell their services to many new customers, who were overall impressed with their online and offline presence.

An ERP System for a Construction Company Image

An ERP System for a Construction Company

An ERP system consisting of 2 modules: a product management module and a job performance module. They allow digitizing processes at

  • execution of an order that includes the roles of technician, manager, and supplier.
  • reporting of work done by workers on a site. The roles involved in this module are Technician, Manager, and Accountant.

The problem

Handling orders by hand

leads to delayed workflows and errors. It makes the whole process more transparent for all participants in the process: technician, supplier, and manager.

Reporting the work that has been done results in too many of the same types of calculations that make accounting and management less efficient. This leads to the need for more staff, which increases the cost of the company.

Challenges

Business Challenges: Facilitate communication between employees to accelerate workflow.

Technological challenges: Creating a system in which requests from employees are created and received, the ability to manage lists of sites, users, product categories, products, and suppliers.

Monitoring and reporting of the work done by the employees on site.

Results

A system in which there are roles – employees in the company by position and elements – objects, products, suppliers, etc. 2 modules have been created to allow orders to be digitally executed and to monitor the workflow in the company.

Maximum employee efficiency saves time and effort, which reduces company costs and increases revenue.

It already provides digital and media literacy training and tools for children, parents, and

teachers.

Challenge

The ARC Fund wanted a comprehensive mobile application tool for training 7-to-15-old children. The training is about the major online risks and their respective preventative measures in an interactive and a gamified way. It has a direct link to the Bulgarian Safer Internet Centre’s helpline.

Goals

The goals of the project were to raise awareness about the major online risks among 7-15-year old children. It had to empower them to use effective preventative measures for mitigating those risks.

At the same time, they wanted to encourage children to actively seek support from the consultants of the Bulgarian Safer Internet Centre and from trusted adults, such as parents and teachers in an effective and fun way.

Results

The ARC Fund achieved its objectives in four steps:

  1. Development of the first of its kind mobile application for safe internet use in Bulgaria.
  2. Provision of a comprehensive gamified tool for recognizing the major online risks and their corresponding preventative measures.
  3. Involvement of peer-to-peer child trainers and teacher facilitators from 2 Bulgarian schools in the dissemination of positive online content in a supportive and cooperative way.
  4. A direct connection between children and expert consultants about online safety.

Since launch, the SafenetApp has become one of the Bulgarian Safer Internet Centre’s major tools for training children about online safety.

It has also proven to be an extremely effective peer-to-peer training tool. It has been used in 10 schools for training more than 200 children about the major online risks and the ways to combat them.

BACKGROUND

Please describe your company and your position there.

We are actually not a company, but rather a local Non Governmental Organisation in the sector of tourism, culture and education, named 365 Association. Our biggest projects are called Free Sofia Tour and Free Plovdiv Tour, but we also stand behind numerous touristic services, such as the Culture, Communist and Alternative Tours, the Red Flat Museum and #LOVESOFIA - a theater play in English. I work as the Vice President of the NGO and deal with partnerships and development of new projects.

Once I started working for 365 Association in 2016, we were on the verge of a big rise in the tourist sector, since companies such as Wizz Air and Ryan Air started flying regularly to Sofia. This meant a great deal to our team, since it opened an opportunity to meet many more tourists in Sofia and Plovdiv on a daily basis. The webpages were very outdated, all of them were written on custom code and were not easily accessible for us, in order to make internal changes and update the information about our services. The main priority of the project therefore was redesigning these websites, implementing wordpress, so that we have an easy access to the control panel, implementing ways of booking services online and structuring the internal information presented there in a better, more user friendly way.

Our websites were already using pretty old domains and were scoring very high in google on different searches. We definitely wanted to preserve that, but also make the pages more modern, presentable and user friendly. Another big goal was the implementation of online booking systems, so that our customers can book our tours online and also pay online. The last goal was to turn the pages into a good structured online portal for information through our old blog posts and the once we have been writing ever since.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor?

The answer here is simple - I knew the main person behind the company - Emilian Kadiiski, with whom we shared the same career path as teachers under the program Teach for Bulgaria. I was aware that Emo had a dream to go back to the city of Vratsa and engage as many people as possible to start learning and working in the field of IT and Programming so I trusted him and the company as a result of our personal connection.

Describe the project and the services they provided in detail.

The project had different aspects: 1. Wordpress implementation which would allow our team to use the website on a daily basis, updating every single piece on the site such as text, pictures, carousels, website tabs etc. 2. Redesign of the main page and the landing pages as well. Creating carousels, implementing text and pictures in high quality. 3. Booking options for our users - something essential for the development of our paid services. 4. Working on optimizing internal information and migration of content, especially our blog posts - optimizing content via new google requirements. 5. Optimizing the speed of the websites and their mobile interface and overall outlook.

What was the team composition?

The team was composed of one project lead and one developer, who worked on the project and the different tasks.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

Overall the websites started performing much better, loaded much faster, scored even higher in google depending on key word searches. As a result we nearly tippled the size of our monthly visitors and thanks to the booking forms managed to present and sell our services to many new customers, who were overall impressed with our online and offline presence.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

Everything was flawless - we always had a very direct and personal approach and could communicate effectively in online meetings and on the phone. Emilian, who was the project manager during the implementation, was always there when we needed him and supervised the projects throughout. What surprised us very positively is that he stayed in contact with us years after the projects were brought to finish to give extra advise and to fix minor mistakes, when he spotted them.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

The personal approach, the willingness to help organizations in the non governmental sector, that have an ideal goal and to adapt their prices to the occasion, without affecting the quality of their work.

Are there any areas for improvement?

There are always areas for improvement, but I cannot list any with regards to the projects we worked together.

BACKGROUND

Please describe your company and your position there.

This is the regional library "Hristo Botev" Vratsa.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

For what projects/services did your company hire Inveitix?

Over the years, Bulgarian history, folklore and traditions have been lost little by little. The idea of the platform is to find and preserve, through photographs, documents, stories and songs, these values from small towns and villages in northwestern Bulgaria. The documents included in the site "Time Travel Map" are part of the created digital archive of the region of Vratsa - XX century - history, culture, life and traditions, landmarks.

Authentic elements of life in each of the settlements (text, sound, photography) of the Vratsa region. Valuable records, documents and photographs go out of oblivion to be preserved and displayed - presented in the best, publicly accessible way, to reveal the life of one of the most colorful and interesting, but at the same time one of the poorest and most deprived regions of Bulgaria today.

What were your goals for this project?

The goals of the project is to digitalize the documents and to preserve, protect and popularize the folklore and history in Vratsa region. This is important because many of the villages in the region are permanently depopulated in recent decades, and a lot of the heritage is often destroyed by negligence, lack of knowledge of their importance or simply left in the empty houses.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor?

We have worked before with the company on different projects. We wanted to work with young people who could help us create the technology for our project in a modern way.

Describe the project and the services they provided in detail.

An online platform that allows all users to view all municipalities in the Vratsa region. In each municipality, all cities and villages are described in detail. The description includes settlement history, beliefs and traditions, local stories, local revolutionaries.

Simple and easy way to edit and add new settlements and stories. For every settlement we can add and edit the texts, pictures, videos and sound records. For the backend is used Laravel on PHP and for the front end is used JavaScript, ajax, jquery and bootstrap, for the database is used MySQL.

What was the team composition?

We worked with one developer for this project who made the back end and front end.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

The platform is a unique wat to present the culture heritage of the region. It is the first of its kind and it started to gain popularity shortly after we released it. Maybe because we are able to add new scientific and historical materials constantly. We started getting recognition from different institutions and medias.

We received award from the major in Vratsa. We received the most famous national award for libraries and library work - “Hristo G. Danov” in the category ”Literature and Culture”. We also received some other domestic awards. Other Our online popularity raised because it is really easy to add scientific and historical materials.

Other libraries from different regions liked our platform and wanted to help them create one of their own. Many of the photos have no caption and do not know their origin, but through the platform people across the country and abroad recognize and share where the photos are from, and even through the platform they trace their ancestry and roots.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

We managed the project and the communication was great. We knew what we want and gave them the design and they made everything the way we wanted it.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

They gave more than we expected. They added new features and functionality after the release which was really kind. The project was a specific one and we are glad that we were able to bond quickly and make it happen.

Are there any areas for improvement?

Everything went smoothly during the work process.

BACKGROUND

Please describe your company and your position there.

I am the owner of a high end retail jewelry and watch store. With 2 locations in Alaska and Us Caribbean island and every location operating different time of the year

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

For what projects/services did your company hire Inveitix?

We hired Inveitix to build a brand new website. Until than the company did not have online presence

What were your goals for this project?

We just wanted to have the online presence. We wanted a good looking and easy to operate platform

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor?

I was researching companies in the us, but non of them met my expectations on performance and of course price.

Describe the project in detail.

I had already chosen the platform i wanted to use. My problem was finding the company to make it exactly as i wanted it to be. We exchanged all communication options and that was no problem at all. They responded very fast and gave me all the best options for me to choose from

What was the team composition?

There was nobody behind the scene. I could speak personally to everyone on the team and I really liked that. With every other company there was one person in charge, who communicated with me, and i feel there is a lot of misunderstandings coming from that

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

All i wanted was to have a website so my customers feel that my company is easy to be found and contacted incase they needed to

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

I had no deadlines assigned but the team was still fast and responsive. I am very happy with them

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Since i have no knowledge in website design they made sure i understand everything throughout the process. They were also really patient with me because i was really picky on a few things. and of course the communication.

Are there any areas for improvement?

I am very happy with everything

BACKGROUND

Please describe your company and your position there.

The National Network for Children is an umbrella non-for-profit uniting 150 civic organizations working with and for children and families across the country. Promoting and protecting the rights of the child are the key principles that unite us.

We believe that all policies and practices that directly or indirectly affects children should be developed, implemented and monitored, taking into account the principle of the best interests of children and the active involvement of children and young people themselves. I am the Communications and Campaigns Director at the Secretariat of the National Network for Children

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

For what projects/services did your company hire Inveitix?

Violence against children is a phenomenon that exists in every country, community, ethnic or religious group, irrespective of the social status of the child or the family. It happens everywhere: at home, at the kindergarten, out in the street, among friends, in child care facilities, at law enforcement institutions, etc.

Children become victims to different forms of violence and abuse: physical, psychological, sexual, bullying, online, neglect, trafficking, sexual and labor exploitation, or arranged child marriages. That is why we wanted a platform so we can create more awareness and combat the violence against children in Bulgaria.

What were your goals for this project?

Development and promotion of policies for children and families; Promotion of informational and awareness campaigns aiming to change society's attitudes towards the rights of the child to live in a world without violence; Development and implementation of a model for child and youth participation; National Network for Children's public image enhancement and development of the organizational capacity and external communications.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor?

We have worked with Inveitix the year before on a different project. We were satisfied by their work and that is why we decided to work with them again.

Describe the project and the services they provided in detail.

The EndViolence.nmd.bg platform was created to gather and make available various resources related to the topic of violence prevention and assistance to children affected by violence and their families in different areas and situations of their lives.

The online platform brings together children, parents, teachers and schools, social workers, psychologists, non-governmental organizations, governmental structures and institutions - anyone who is interested or in need of help on the topic. BACKGROUND

Please describe your company and your position there.

The Applied Research and Communications Fund (ARC Fund) is a renowned Bulgarian NGO established in 1991. Since 2005, it has been coordinating the Safer Internet Centre (SIC) in Bulgaria operating a safer internet Hotline and a consulting Helpline for children.

It already provides digital and media literacy trainings and tools for children, parents, and teachers. I am project officer at the organization, doing both research and trainings related to its mission.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

For what projects/services did your company hire Inveitix?

We hired Invetix for creating a comprehensive mobile application tool for training 7-to-15-old children about the major online risks and their respective preventative measures in an interactive and a gamified way that has a direct link to the Bulgarian Safer Internet Centre's helpline.

What were your goals for this project?

The goals of the project were to raise awareness about the major online risks among 7-15-year old children and empower them to use effective preventative measures for mitigating those risks.

At the same time, we want to encourage children to actively seek support from the consultants of the Bulgarian Safer Internet Centre and from trusted adults, such as parents and teachers in an effective and a fun way.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor?

Invetix is unique in Bulgaria in that it both has competative expertise in developing mobile applications and it consists of employees that have experience and are motivated to work with children.

This project required a profound understanding of the target group (7-15 year old children), so that the mobile app was both educational and engaging. Inverix was the natural choice.

Describe the project in detail.

We achieved our objectives in four steps:

  1. Development of the first of its kind mobile application for safe internet use in Bulgaria.
  2. Provision of a comprehansive gamified tool for recognizing the major online risks and their corresponding preventative measures.
  3. Involvement of peer-to-peer child trainers and teacher facilitators from 2 Bulgarian schools in in the dissemination of positive online content in a supportive and cooperative way.
  4. Direct connection between children and expert consultants about online safety.

What was the team composition?

Three PHP developers and two online safety experts.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Since launch the Safenet App has become one of the Bulgarian Safer Internet Centre's major tools for training children about online safety.

It has also proven to be extremely effective peer-to-peer training tool, as it has been used in 10 schools for training more than 200 children about the major online risks and the ways to combat them.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

The employees from Invetix were very comprehansive of the concept and the app specification and created a product that perfectly matched our expectations. They were also very responsive and in the majority of cases quickly fixed bugs and improved the app functionalities based on feedback.

The only time we had a gap in the communication was when we requested a clear process for accessing the user data for the mobile app and are still struggling to find one.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Two things impressed me equally:

  • Their deep comprehension of the business (in this case project) needs.
  • They are passionate about working on socially beneficial projects, especially when they address children.

Are there any areas for improvement?

As already mentioned, we would like to recieve clear instructions on accessing end evaluating the user data of the app both in iOS and in Google in order to evaluate its impact.

Describe the project and the services they provided in detail.

At the request of the Georgian and Armenian governments, we started the development of a pilot prototype for peer-to-peer index insurance platform which utilizes satellite data to trigger the execution of the insurance contracts.

BACKGROUND

Please describe your company and your position there.

My company provides real estate services, intermediation, property valuation in Blagoevgrad province, Bulgaria.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

For what projects/services did your company hire Inveitix?

The team of Inveitix created my company`s web page.

What were your goals for this project?

The main goal for me was to promote in a modern way real estate services and available properies, due to easier communitacion between my company and clients.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor?

I made my own research, also they were recommended by other company.

Describe the project and the services they provided in detail.

They create my company`s web page www.studio4.marketing using laravel framework connected with admin`s panel, where I can upload, delete all databse with properties and manage all client`s enquiries. For me was not so easy to understand all process and steps of creating web page, more important was to see visible results in the end of this project. Real estate web pages are specific in a way that affects directly to client`s attention as well as business income. In real estate it is better not having company`s web page instead of having not userfriendly one.

What was the team composition?

The team lead is Emilian Kadiisky and I had communicate with web developer Emil Sergeev. Both of them were very helpful to me and understanding client`s needs. I really appreciate their professional work and definitely would recommend them.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

For one year many people visit the page, for local business the results are very good (excluding paid promotions).

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

I think it was very good organized, all of the team followed schedule and each part of the page was created by different person, all of them were good managed by the team lead. We had shared folder where I can upload any of my visions, ideas, questions about certain case during the project.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

The communication is always open, it is very good to know exaclty where is your project in time line. Feels good to know that someone is standing on his words.

Are there any areas for improvement?

The only thing is that it might be good for their team to have a designer, to precise final look of pages they create.
