Improve Educations
What does modern education look like? It is clear, interesting, and insightful. Just as a solution developed for Improve Educations by UKAD.
While the founder of Improve Educations requested us to create a learning platform, we already were skilled in eLearning technologies and knew what we should do. But this project was truly unique because of the possibility for a third-party to sell courses. In other words, it should not be a simple eLearning website but a kind of educational marketplace with multi-tier managed access.
The Client challenged us with the development of a platform that will be equally easy for managers and users, at the same time stylish, modern, and powerful. The requested features were:
- possibility to manage education content without strong tech skills
- different levels of access for users
- possibility of certification with built-in tools
- possibility to sell courses via the platform for third-party companies.
The perfect performance, good speed, and uptime are also important because they are vital for eLearning projects.
According to the conception, UKAD developed an eLearning platform with the following features:
- user dashboard with courses divided into Chapters and certificates
- possibility to take the course exam
- video lessons with transcriptions
- certificates generation with PDF templates using a user ID
- built-in email distribution
- user access to courses via special URL with a unique token
- manager access
- Klarna payment system.
While other companies can sell courses with Improve Educations, we also implemented a possibility of branding. For partners, it's just enough to send their brand colors, images, and fonts to get a unique fully customized profile on the platform.
Since we were using the Umbraco theme for Improve Educations project, the platform doesn't require developers for customization. Since the solution has no hardcoded elements, most of all changes in UI can be performed by Content Managers in a few clicks.

Mimir Test
Mimir is the avatar of knowledge from Norse Mythology, whose name means 'the one who remembers'. As legendary Mimir was a source of Odin's wisdom, Mimir Test is a powerful cognitive trainer.
UKAD provided Mimir Test's creator with back- and front-end development, quality solution architecture, and covered everything with tests. The original visual conception was updated with good-looking and clear charts, which provide users with comprehensive analytics and allow evaluating the progress easily.
We used Umbraco CMS augmented with plugins. The solution was selected because of great usability both for users and for managers. Then, we added a possibility to implement support for many languages with synchronous translation which significantly reduces timespends on content management. Analytics and charts were implemented with Highcharts Plugin. As the payments platform, Mimir Test uses Netaxept by Nets because of its highest level security and user-friendly UI.

Dental Clinic Management App
Smart Human Resource operations for Healthcare
This project started with the request by one of the leading dental groups in the UK with multiple practices and numerous employees. The Customer required optimization of personnel, finances, and day to day tasks to ensure growth and new partnerships with other dental clinics.
After 25 weeks the team, which is built by UKAD from two back-end and two front-end developers, one QA engineer and the designer, developed the custom management platform.
We introduced within the platform a tasks management tool with the next features:
- group and personal tasks arranging
- employees availability display
- result assessment with automated negative scoring of failed tasks
- discussions inside the task cards inspired by Trello.
The scheduling is solved as a calendar of employees over their working locations. With such a map administrators can easily have an overview of their human resources. Staff can move between clinics or surgeries, assigned to different roles by granular or bulk actions.
Financial operations are carried out by the client with the Xero accounting app. We integrated with that service in order to show the numbers in the relevant context. On top of that, we built a budgeting function which allows at a glance to spot the overspending by certain clinics.
Last but not least, all of the functionality provided using flexible permissions. Administrators of the app create roles of any level access and give any specific privileges in a few clicks.

Computer vision - Image recognition
Neural Networks-powered application for Healthcare
Our client from the healthcare industry discovered that many patients buy medicines but forget to take them or break rules of intake. It's bad both for the treatment process and patients' wellness. At the same time, medicine intake is very hard to manage both for medical staff and patients, as well. So, he decided to create a tool for pills intake tracking which can remind patients and notify doctors.
UKAD designed and developed a mobile application because it's the easiest way to stay connected with patients 24/7 in different ways. A possibility to control the intake of medicines provided by a machine learning algorithm that analyzes blisters to find missed pills. If a patient doesn't scan the blister in time or forget to take a pill, the app sends a notification. If nothing happens after notification, the patient receives a call. Such an approach provides monitoring quality just similar to the distribution of medicines in the hospital. A solution powered with YOLO real-time object detection which works extremely fast. We decided to use it to provide an outstanding user experience on most of all devices and make the application as comfortable as possible.

The Academy
Founded in 1999, the Academy company is located in Sweden. They offers training courses and programs for fitness trainers. The learning process includes both online and offline parts.
When the owners of The Academy first got in touch with UKAD, they already had a website. But as the project had developed, the team had realized that the website required serious improvements. So they set a challenge to build a new e-learning portal that would meet modern requirements and be able to help the company stay competitive in the digital market, strengthen its online presence, reach more students, and simplify the learning and certificate granting processes.

The customer is a leading holiday vaccine supplier with a mission to take the stress out of getting your holiday vaccines. With licensed clinics across the nation, and same day appointments available within an hour, you can be holiday ready in less than 24 hours.
We have successfully created two connected products (public website and clinical system). The product's functionality lets the company to successfully manage the requests from users who want to have a vaccination (such as before a trip to a foreign country). We started cooperation with UKAD because of the necessity to onboard more experts to our projects than we have. Assistance from the UKAD's side was especially valuable when FlexMade needed some rare specialists like skilled DevOps or UI/UX designers, which couldn't be hired in a few days. We also involved UKAD developers for several of our projects due to their unique expertise and comfortable communication. Talking about outstaffing services, it's not difficult to establish goals. On each project with UKAD, we expected professionalism, responsibility, flawless delivery, and proactive communication. Actually, there are no additional criteria for team augmentation and similar services.

We have been collaborating for years, so guys from UKAD took part in many FlexMade projects. At first, we used their services, because I'm acquainted with Denys and Alex, the founders, know their experience and work ethics, thus decided to try.

UKAD provided us with so-called outstaffing or team augmentation services. From time to time, we involved developers, as well as other specialists, from UKAD in our projects to fill gaps in our expertise or use some unique skills in the shortest terms. For FlexMade, it was a better option than hiring, onboarding, and so on, especially for a single project.
What was the team composition?
Despite the years of collaboration we didn't establish any service frameworks or so, we're quite flexible in resource management and used team augmentation as needed. In most cases, of course, we hired front- and back-end developers but not only them. We also involved DevOps and UI/UX experts from UKAD in FlexMade’s projects.
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
I can't share any information because as any good software development company, we keep our NDAs. But we appreciate UKAD's contribution to our products and will gladly cooperate in further.
How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?
On most projects, we have our internal project management appointed, otherwise the end customers manage the process themselves. Developers from UKAD perfectly joined our workflow and performed as good as our in-house team.
What did you find most impressive about this company?
I can't underline any specific points, because our collaboration was both productive and cozy. It was just like our internal team that takes part in all the processes but never drinks our coffee.
Are there any areas for improvement?
UKAD seems to be a perfect partner. Of course, we got some issues during these years, but they didn't have a tangible impact on the workflow, thus I don't want to criticize from this point of view.

We hired UKAD to develop an iOS application and a kind of promotional website, which may represent our vision, as well as display some featured content, news, and so forth. Actually, we were looking for a reliable vendor to bring ideas to life. First of all, to create a beautiful app with easy management, and maintain it.

I selected UKAD by the reference of another creative entrepreneur who had quite a great history of cooperation with them.

As mentioned earlier, I came to UKAD for a mobile app. But, actually, the final solution emerged much more complex. It consists of a website on Umbraco, an application, and an API, which is the nub of the whole solution. It's used to publish content from the website to the application, so management takes several clicks without developers. Then, UKAD polished and maintained the app for around 4 years.

The team composition was constant: most of the time, we were working with backend and frontend developers, QA, and project manager.

The app is used by many famous people and have been featured in Vogue.

We arranged communications through the Project Manager from UKAD's side. Denis, the CEO, personally managed most of the project, and at the support stage, we worked with Yurij. I don't want to disclose technical details because it's our know-how. The UKAD team developed a web API used to collect and process important data.

I am the Founder and CEO of Mimir International. Mimir Test is our platform allowing users to improve results in cognitive tests used in the hiring process. By doing these tests, users improve their chance to pass a job interview successfully and/or improve cognitive ability.

I described the logics, made some sketches and prepared most of the documentation. So, I was looking for somebody to bring this idea to life. UKAD performed all the development and Quality Assurance works. They have also researched and implemented awesome visual charts which play a valuable impact on the whole project's imaginary.

To develop a robust website with my design. And make everything work properly.
How did you select this vendor?
I've got a recommendation to work with UKAD, checked their website and reviews, and realized that I want to work with them.

I've requested the development of the web platform according to my design. The UKAD team performed both front and back end development, built server infrastructure and covered it with tests, as expected.
They also found and implemented several interesting solutions to build great charts with various scores and operate multilingual pages with similar content. Now, we are polishing Mimir Tests with additional products and features while we promote the platform.

Back end developer, front end developer, Solution Architect, Project Manager, QA and from time to time DevOps.
Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?
The platform launch have made it possible for us to engage with the market and begin our promotion. It is early days yet but the results have been promising despite the on-going crisis.
How was project management arranged and how effective was it?
It wasn't brilliant in the beginning, but I talked to the project manager Oleg and we've changed the communication model. Today everything is okay and I always know what's going on in the project. We have weekly demos and planning running inside the overall master plan which is comfortable for everyone and easy to manage.
What did you find most impressive about this company?
UKAD is very client-oriented. Developers never perform useless work, but always search the way to improve business value. The project manager was open and friendly. I also enjoy the proactive position in planning and management of delivery which built on understanding both business and tech aspects of the project.
Are there any areas for improvement?
I can always wish for even faster deliveries, but to be honest I would rather have the right product with superior quality tomorrow than a less than 100% product today.

I was researching around the web when I found UKAD's website and got interested in their expertise. After several emails, the CEO Denys invited me to visit their office and meet the developers. I was impressed that they could talk about complex things in plain language, so I found the proposal reasonable and we started development.

UKAD delivered for us everything from the design according to our branding to support and maintenance. They launched a website, implemented basic SEO, and easy product import.
What was the team composition?
Two developers, QA engineer, and Project Manager / Business Analyst.
Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?
I have no proper data because I don't know how my business would work without a website. But it seems to be a good update. The website allows me to reach more people, use Google rich snippets and ads, and finally increase sales.
How was project management arranged and how effective was it?
I've got direct contact with my Project Manager Yurij. It was flawless.
What did you find most impressive about this company?
At first, it was the orientation of the customer's needs. While I'm not a tech-savvy person, for me it was very important to know that developers do only things that are really required. Also, I enjoy the quality of communication. And the way how the developers fulfilled my requirements also was impressive. They used Umbraco CMS which is not common, or at least I've never heard about it before, but very comfy and cost-effective.
Are there any areas for improvement?
I'm not sure. Collaboration with UKAD is a great experience.

Our company was looking for help with .NET development for an epic project. As soon as our team focused on the other parts here came a necessity to enforce it with strong .NET expertise.

I met UKAD management at the conference a few years ago and then kept in touch. So, when we've faced a necessity to hire a development team, Denis was one of the first people I've talked to, thanks to the expertise of the UKAD team and many interesting cases. As he promised to start delivery in a week, we made a deal.

We shared design, all documentation describing the concept, goals and so on. Then the UKAD team developed a whole solution including UI/UX, performed Quality Assurance and support.
They also suggested some technologies to optimize terms and spends which were successfully utilized. As soon as it was an addition to the existing online store, developed to improve buyers' engagement, this project required regular demos to keep the concept.
The manager from UKAD's side established our working process in the most effective way in which we had strong enough communication but never wasted time on vain meetings.
What was the team composition?
There was a project manager, who also acted as an architect, with several developers. We also attracted a UI/UX designer and QA engineers.

Sadly, I can't share any numbers. But the delivery UKAD performed played a great impact on the whole project. Finally, our end customer was happy!

We hired them to rewrite our expense scanner app using React Native as well as expand its functionality.

We wanted to take advantage of the React Native platform and enable our customers to categorize documents from the app.

Not only are their prices fair, but their CTO is highly talented and reliable.
Describe the project in detail.
We provided the wireframes for the app, which was to serve as the foundation for future expansions as well as a base and pipeline for new React Native applications.
The app required the following capabilities: a welcome message at login; a “remember login” option to make repeat logins easy; the use of real-time or previously captured images from a file system to prepare an expense; and the ability to include additional expense details then categorize the expense as either free text completed by the user or a predetermined category pulled from our core application. The expense app would then forward a consolidated document and additional information to the core platform for further action.

In addition to the CTO, we worked with several other skilled developers from UKAD. We also provided a sideline designer and developer to assist as needed.

UKAD delivered a flawless app that our customers love.
How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?
The UKAD team is highly structured and responsive. Regular updates and demos, as well as accurately estimated tasks and direct communication, helped us feel in control of the project and strengthened our confidence and trust in them.
They offered good, proactive suggestions for the challenges we faced and provided great input when identifying issues and alternatives. They also integrated seamlessly into our operations and felt like a part of our team instead of a third-party vendor.

We were originally an IT consultancy that produced numerous projects for large agencies. We had an idea for a SaaS product, but we didn’t have the resources.

UKAD developed a document management and sales enablement platform that runs on MS Azure and with three websites connected to the backend. There is an admin site, a website for users to view content, and an internal site for our team. For the sites and backend, our team provided the designs and requirements. An iOS application also connects to the platform. Their team worked on it before we had available resources in-house. UKAD updates the platform and provides maintenance when needed.
What was the team composition?
Initially, we worked with an iOS developer, two backend developers, a frontend developer, and a project manager. We scaled down when the initial project was completed, but we add members when features need to be implemented.

The product has attracted paying customers for years. We created a separate company to focus on this product because of its popularity.

Project management was a joint effort. Sometimes I would leave everything to UKAD and receive weekly reports and demos. Other times, I was actively involved in discussions with the developers through Skype.

All of their employees exhibit a sense of responsibility that shows their dedication to delivering the best product. The core product was the same quality we would’ve expected from an in-house developer. If a serious issue arose, their team responded immediately. UKAD was open to suggestions in all aspects of the project.
