My role is partner marketing manager that facilitates a relationship between two online service providers.

What challenge were you trying to address with Total Product Marketing?

We hired Total Product Marketing to create and develop content for a joint campaign.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Total Product Marketing assisted with strategy but is primarily involved in content marketing. Their team developed white papers, created landing pages, and drafted emails. They recommended an integrated campaign that we ended up doing pieces of. Their team structured the content and design of various marketing assets implemented within the campaign. The material is hosted on a blog and promoted on social media. With the landing pages, we focused on the traffic driven to specific ones.

What is the team composition?

I work with three of their team members. My primary contacts are Makiko (Director of Digital Marketing, Total Product Marketing) and Dean (Principal, Total Product Marketing). One of their team members does copywriting, project management, and other content development for the project. I haven’t worked directly with members of their design team.

How did you come to work with Total Product Marketing?

I found out about them through the partnership. Their team was working with one of the service providers on a different campaign. We were impressed by their work, so we asked them to participate in the joint campaign.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent less than $10,000 so far.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with Total Product Marketing in August 2018, and the engagement is ongoing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

As of yet, there are no results of the individual campaigns. Total Product Marketing has been on time and within budget on all the projects we’ve done. We’ve hired them to do additional work as well.

How did Total Product Marketing perform from a project management standpoint?

Their project management style is excellent. We communicate using Slack. Our teams share documents on Google Drive, which we use to align on timelines and review content. It’s been an exceptional collaboration with Total Product Marketing.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Total Product Marketing is easy to work with. When we brought them onboard, their team was up to speed quickly, producing quality work. They’re also affordable. Total Product Marketing isn’t one of those fancy agencies that wave their arms around and charges an expensive amount for no work.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, there were a few issues with communicating schedules, but that wasn’t a huge problem.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Their team is fantastic to work with. If your company is trying to do something, it’s easier for Total Product Marketing to help and make recommendations if they’re provided with context. They can think outside of the box, and I’ve been impressed.

I am the solutions engineering manager at a global payments provider for merchants and customers.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Total Product Marketing?

Our company financially supports an independent initiative of e-commerce merchants selling in an online store. We hoped to increase the number of conversions from users on mobile devices, as opposed to users from desktop devices. Our challenge is that this community of merchants is unaffiliated with our company, but we needed a marketing team to help that community grow.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Total Product Marketing’s initial effort included building a Magento-based website because Magento already has a large base of merchants and we already had system integrators on that platform. Since that time, they’ve also built a website that is unique to BigCommerce.

Further, we relied on Total Product Marketing to create marketing materials that are 90% complete. The logic behind that decision was that it would be straightforward then for system integrators and merchants to use those materials on social media or in webinars. Our goal is to make it as easy as possible for those groups to put their brand on those materials and use that collateral very quickly.

What is the team composition?

Most of our communication is with Dean (Principal, Total Product Marketing) and Makiko (Director of Digital Marketing, Total Product Marketing). 

How did you come to work with Total Product Marketing?

We crowdsourced ideas from our initial group of merchants for talented marketing companies. We received a few names and reached out to those that impressed us. Total Product Marketing showed us some of their work, and we felt comfortable moving forward with them.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent between $100,000–$250,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

Our engagement began in August 2018 and remains ongoing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Although a bulk of this work was completed on Magento’s platform, Magento as a company was not involved—it was not their initiative, and they didn’t direct any efforts. Once they saw the website that Total Product Marketing delivered, Magento became much more supportive. They are now actively engaged in promoting the community and cross-posting blogs that Total Product Marketing helped to write.

How did Total Product Marketing perform from a project management standpoint?

We had very aggressive timelines, but Total Product Marketing jumped in with both feet and delivered in our schedule. Even as the project has expanded, they’ve been very engaged and able to keep up with the work. We never had a substantial list of milestones, so our progress was not difficult to track. Instead of a project management tool, we can accomplish everything we need to through email, but they’re always available for a phone call, as well.

What did you find most impressive about them?

From our company’s perspective, we’re usually very cut and dry because we’re big and corporate in the way we do things. Even though this initiative was not tied to us, we were presented with an opportunity to be adventurous, and Total Product Marketing used their creative abilities to convey what we wanted. We were hopeful of what the website was going to be. Total Product Marketing delivered a website above and beyond what we envisioned.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, they’ve handled everything well.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Total Product Marketing can certainly deliver on guidelines you set, but we found it valuable to give them the space to be the creative geniuses that they are. If you allow them to apply their skill set, you’ll receive something much better than if you dictate the entire project.
