Please describe your company and your position there.

We're a challenger consultancy based in London. We partner with our clients to bring in digital expertise, offering Teams-as-a-Service solutions to businesses across the UK. I'm the in-house Marketing Manager, and I was the main point of contact on this project.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

For what projects/services did your company hire Together?

We recently underwent a business transformation from a recruitment business to consultancy. Due to this, we looked for an agency to help us rebrand our website to best represent our new business model and service offering. We needed a new design and a more robust, improved website, built on Wordpress.

We were looking for an agency that will give us a fresh new look, adjusted to attract our new target audience. However, we still wanted to maintain the style and the feel of our old design. The challenge was to maintain a perfect balance between the old and the new world.

What were your goals for this project?

It was important for us to find an agency based in London who would partner with us to fully understand our brand, creating a new website that kept the feel of our previous design but giving it a fresh new look in line with the new business style and our service offering.

We were looking for an agency who would provide design, development and copywriting help. We needed this project to fit into a predetermined budget, but we also wanted to ensure we had a direct relationship with the team we were going to work with.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor?

I found Together on Clutch.co. Based on their positive reviews, and a subsequent phone call, I invited them to meet with us. Out of three other agencies that were interviewed we picked Together based on their previous work and initial proposal.

They offered us instant solutions displaying a clear understanding of our brand and situation, gained from the earlier phone call – this set them apart from the other agencies we spoke with. Cameron has also offered us a very good timeline for the project. From the initial presentation to the proposal, everything impressed our team textually and visually.

Describe the project and the services they provided in detail.

Together offered to deliver our website with a focus on making it lightweight, high-quality and capable of consistently converting visitors to clients. The CMS was meant to be entirely custom-built, however in a way that allows for any developer to take over in future. We were working alongside Together team to plan and produce this site from the ground up. Together met with us and arranged conference calls multiple times to discuss the strategy and content of the website. They’ve provided us with:

We've worked closely with Cameron, Will and Ryan. I think there was one more additional contractor hired by Together, but I had no direct contact with him. I was the main point of contact on our side, but the senior team was also involved in a shared slack workspace where everyone could see and monitor all conversations. We had additional marketing team members join at the end of the project from our side, which helped speed up the last section of the delivery.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

After launching the website we noticed a sizeable increase in traffic. Together also made sure that there are no hidden fees and placed our hosting with the same company they use for their website. This allowed us to cut costs on hosting and security.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

Together team provide clear Gantt charts identifying a timeline for every stage of the project. We communicated via Slack. Sometimes communication could be improved. In particular, near the end of the project, we had to chase the Together team to ensure our questions and requests were responded to. However, overall, we were satisfied with their approach and how they communicated with us.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Their design skill is their strongest suit. We also enjoyed working with the Together team. From the very beginning, Cameron has really impressed us with his approach to the project. He very quickly understood who we were and what we needed. His knowledge and experience made us feel like we’re in safe hands.

Are there any areas for improvement?

After launching the site, our team found some quality and usability issues that shouldn’t have got through Together’s testing stage. In the future they should consider testing the site more extensively before the launch. We would also appreciate a clear how-to booklet to their bespoke CMS.

I’m a marketing consultant at ALSO Group, one of Europe’s largest IT distributors. We provide IT products and services to businesses in twelve countries. I manage my company’s service agreement with a multinational enterprise IT company.

What challenge were you trying to address with Together?

We needed to centralize our operations across the twelve countries that we’re active in. My company had multiple marketing campaigns and IT stacks, which made it difficult to control the consistency and timing of our digital marketing efforts.

We decided to launch a central campaign across all twelve countries. The campaign, which is behalf of the vendor whose service agreement I oversee, offers sales and tech training to businesses. Another agency created the campaign’s communication plan, style guide, and basic concept, and we hired Together to build a website. We wanted the website to serve as a central portal and create more consistency and control in the delivery of the campaign.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Together designed and developed the campaign website in collaboration with my company’s creative services team. While Together conceptualized the design, my team wrote all of the copy for the site. Together developed the backend in such a way that enables users to create accounts and my team to track user activity, such as what pages they’ve visited, what they’ve downloaded, what training events they’ve signed up for, etc.

Currently, Together is expanding the site to include more features and functionalities.

What is the team composition?

Our primary contact is Cameron (Founder and Strategy Director, Together), who oversees account management and business development. We also work with Will (Creative Director, Together) on the site’s layouts and design concepts. Together brought on a backend developer specifically for our project, and I believe that this individual has joined their team fulltime. My team just began working with another Together designer on specs for the new content and functionalities that we’re building into the site.

How did you come to work with Together?

I found Together on Dribble while I was working for my previous company, and they helped that company with a rebrand and website redesign. When we began this project at ALSO Group, I knew Together was the right fit for the job based on our time scales and resources.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent €40,000– €50,000 so far (approximately $45,000–$60,000 USD).

What is the status of this engagement?

Our work together began in January 2019, and it is ongoing. We hope to continue expanding on this engagement for the next six months, if not longer.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The project’s core metrics are signups and engagement. Our goal is to register 150 customers to the site, and we’ve gotten around 80 so far. This will continue to rise as we expand into different countries. Both the vendor and internal stakeholders are very pleased with the quality of the website. The quality is much higher than what my company is used to.

How did Together perform from a project management standpoint?

We have weekly progress meetings with Together. They’re accessible; if we have any problems, we can easily reach them. Their team is also flexible. Since we work with vendors, we often have to adapt to their requirements. Together readily adjusts to budget and scope changes.

Together’s strength is design. The way they approach UI/UX challenges and interaction design has allowed us to deliver a great user experience to customers and fulfill the campaign’s goal.

When we launched the site, my team found quality issues that shouldn’t have gotten through Together’s QA process. However, once we raised these concerns, Together fixed them quickly. In the future, they might consider paying more attention to details and putting off launch until the product is thoroughly examined.

I’m the founder of flatfair. We replace expensive tenancy deposits with a tech solution that allows tenants to pay only any agreed damages at the end of the tenancy directly with their landlord.

What challenge were you trying to address with Together?

We had a website but it was failing on my fronts for us based on the feedback we were getting. We decided to reimagine the entire site. We needed a website that would help us educate the market about something brand new. Replacing the traditional system of deposits to landlords for flat rentals requires educating tenants, landlords, and agents. Similarly, our product isn’t the easiest to understand so we needed to explain the benefits to each of those parties in a clear, coherent way.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Together redesigned our website. They shared mockups and copy with us along the way and found an illustrator for us. They executed the full redesign within about two months. We’re now starting to work with them on a second version.

What is the team composition?

We worked directly with two colleagues, one on the technical side and one on the creative side.

How did you come to work with Together?

We contacted a number of web design agencies and asked them to pitch their ideas on how they would solve the problem of educating our market on a complex product. The goal was to have people understand a new way of doing things and how the software solution works with just a quick look through the site. Together’s pitch was closest to what we envisioned that end goal would look like—friendly and approachable but professional enough to project confidence about the product.

We worked together from November 2018–January 2019.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The website has been immensely beneficial for us. It was completed exactly at the time that we launched a marketing push here in the UK. They worked hard to get us to that deadline in time to meet our marketing needs. We have a lot of traffic to the site and have had strong positive feedback from customers, partners, and even people who aren’t in this industry and are just looking at the website for the sake of it. The site has received a lot of hype from the web development industry.

How did Together perform from a project management standpoint?

They used a project management tool to organize tasks. They gave us very specific timelines and deadlines for each section of the project and would update us if anything was running late or finished early. It was great having two counterparts because we always knew who we needed to work with and where we stood. They were hands-on, very approachable, and always available. Even months after we've completed the work with them, they still support us if we need anything. I'm very happy with the way that they work with us.

What did you find most impressive about them?

On a personal level, they’re decent human beings, which is always good when you’re doing business. With that foundation, it’s great to work together. They’re responsive, hands-on, and down to earth. They understand our restrictions and aren’t pushy in any way that isn’t beneficial to our business. I would highly recommend them.

Together provided three main services. To start, we did a full rebranding exercise. They created our logo, color scheme, font, etc. Their team delivered a full package that includes everything we need to present our company online and in-person.

Once the rebrand was complete, Together moved onto designing our new site. They showed us exactly how each page on the platform would look and supplied a PDF displaying the new appearance. From there, they used their designs to develop the website from scratch. They created every page, including the home page, about us page, etc.

I wanted to connect three areas that were disjointed before—the mindfulness on social media, my speaking engagements about using technology to grow businesses, and a leadership book that’s going to be published later this year. I struggled to connect them in a single digital environment, to effectively communicate the overall vision and message.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Cameron (Co-Founder, Together) listened to my vision, understood who I am, what my organization represents, and what its sense of purpose is. I really appreciated this level of understanding which could then transfer into the digital vision of the website.

They connected me to one of their best designers, who arrived at the essence of my organization through branding. They listened, empathized, and created storyboards. We went through two iterations on that and then refined it with a third one. It applies color in a way that conveys focus on serenity and peace.

We’re currently working on my digital strategy. We use digital channels to communicate what the organization’s about, to deliver the strategy, promote the book, speaking engagements, and showcase the values and principles.

What is the team composition?

I mainly interfaced with Cameron, his CTO, and the designer.

How did you come to work with Together?

I did my old website in Squarespace by myself, and it was an important part of my business. That made choosing a team difficult, but Together gave me confidence that they could deliver, and we connected well. I felt that they could capture the essence of what I wanted to do, and at the right price.

They started work in October or November 2018, and we released it in January 2019. I’m currently waiting for funding to enable us to go to the next phase.

They’ve done a stellar job of creating my branding and digital presence. I’ve been able to create awareness of my offering, and, as a result, I was booked as a keynote speaker at a FinTech conference. Anything I post on LinkedIn, that links to my website, gets 7,000–10,000 views. I’ve achieved all this without the site they worked on.

How did Together perform from a project management standpoint?

They have immediate responses. We use Slack for project-specific things like sharing files, and WhatsApp for general communication like site rollouts. They’re lean and incredibly responsive.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I’m someone who believes in values, and they have very strong ones. Their competencies are amazing, in terms of listening, empathizing, and connecting with me at a needs level. This wasn’t just a project for them; they really wanted me to succeed. Other organizations would’ve just done the work and given me the bill.

It’s never possible to scope out every single requirement. For example, I wanted to make sure that some of the pages on the site would be protected with a password, but I didn’t describe it well enough. They did it later, without adding any cost to it. A lot of people can do a good job, but, if they don’t listen, connect, and do it with heart, they might be the best designers and still fail.

Are there any areas they could improve?

There’s room for growth in terms of expanding their services. I would like to see them add things like Instagram management. We’ve talked about this, and I think they are considering it.

Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?

Don’t be afraid to trust them, tell them your wildest dreams and biggest nightmares, and let them figure it out. They will be able to make it happen.

Corker Outdoor Ltd is a family-run outdoor living center with 13 show gardens to showcase all of our products. We sell nearly all garden products except for plants. As the creative director, I’m in charge of design, branding, and marketing but am also heavily involved with business development.

Our previous website was becoming outdated, so we approached Together to create a new Magento website. 

What were your goals for this project? 

Our goal was to transform our boring, old website into something more inspirational. Rather than focusing on sales, we wanted to convey that we had so much more to offer in stores, including our family fun service, show gardens, and quality products.

How did you select this vendor? 

We’d heard great things about them, and, after checking out their work, it was clear that their attention to detail was second to none. Following a separate successful project, we decided to engage them again for the new site.

Together designed and developed a new Magento site that functions like a social lead platform. Customers could now interact with us online as well as in store. The site also features a lot of detail and crisp content, which allows customers to gather inspiration on garden care. This includes learning innovative tips from our landscape designers and browsing our quality products. 

What was the team composition?

I worked directly with Cameron (Co-Founder, Together) who served as our project manager. He’s a lovely, helpful person with great experience and knowledge of the industry. He really understood what we wanted to do with our website.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business? 

The project turned out better than I could’ve ever imagined. They completed the website, and we plan to go live mid-March 2019. So far, we’ve already received great feedback from our customers. People are super excited for our new, social lead platform—they’re able to get news, walk around our show gardens, buy products, and learn tips from our top landscape designers. 

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

Having dealt with several agencies in the past, I’m confident that Together’s project management was the best we’ve ever seen. There’s no comparison. Cameron was outstanding at delivering deadlines and keeping us updated throughout the project.  

What did you find most impressive about this company?

I was most impressed by their understanding of the project. We only had to explain things once, and they understood us straight away. What’s more, their attention to detail was unbelievable. The final deliverables were absolutely outstanding; I’d never seen another company put together such fine finishes. 

Are there any areas for improvement?

No, from what I’ve seen, there are definitely no areas for improvement.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor?

We shortlisted a number of agencies whose work we admired. Together's quote more than met our needs. We ultimately selected them based upon the strength of their past work and our rapport with their team. 

Describe the scope of their work in detail.

Together led us through everything from product and brand naming to color schemes and font style guides. We worked with them on logo design through a series of many iterations. They gave us options for the color, font, and logo mark. The process went from first requirements to final designs within two weeks. 

Together used the final logo designs to create stylistic guidelines for our corporate website. They also worked on the website UI/UX and the actual CSS code to tie the design together.

What was the team composition?

Our assigned account manager leads the communication with their designers and developers.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We won a number of design awards and successfully launched on Product Hunt. That generated significant industry buzz, which led to a number of pilots being engaged for our product. Together is incredible at thinking outside the box. They don’t come up with excuses when asked to take on problems beyond their usual field of expertise.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Communication was excellent throughout. They respond promptly to any and all questions. They’re very attentive. We’re impressed with how quickly the designs were iterated, even sometimes delivering new design iterations overnight.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Their level of commitment is so impressive. Their willingness to go above and beyond—and refusal to settle during the design process—blew us away. They always speak up if they see something that they think could contribute to or improve our project.

The existing interface for one of our enterprise solutions allows users to access select hedge fund data. Together’s team sat in on client calls, ran workshops with the team, and learned how the client would be using the tool in their particular setting. Together then worked with our engineers to scope and finalize what the delivery to the client would look like. Following the design work, we received approval of the functionality from the client’s business team, along with confirmation from the client’s design team that Together’s work fell within their brand and style guidelines.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Together’s team was able to secure client approval from a functionality and design perspective. This allowed me to finalize the project’s scope, agree on a price, and sign the contract with that client.

We worked very well together. They produced a timeline and a Gantt chart at the start and kept me updated on their progress using Slack multiple times a day.
