We designed the website in Figma in advance, then they noticed design language inconsistencies, they offered to fix it up themselves and started developing the rough concept. We then steered some of the design changes back towards our initial concept and requested additional changes both visually present on the site and where we put the content in to make it both feel alive to the consumer and intuitive for us to update.

No idea. It did feel like a good handful.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Their flexibility was impressive. They understood we're not fully experienced in this field and were ready to help develop things that we might not have thought of at first but found necessary to have in the final version.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

With Tinloof you get a really good product. It did feel like all creative suggestions with animation etc. had to come from us with an exact example where it would've been great to see examples of what's possible. Maybe that's more included if they're in charge of the design of the website in advance.

The setup for sanity CMS was very well thought out and easy for marketers to understand. The best setup I've seen in the 2 years I've been working with sanity.

We've created the first version of our website on Wordpress without developer help. Important part of our acquisition strategy is to create organic content (e.g. blog posts) and obtain SEO traffic. Our old website became slower and slower the more content and features we tried to add to to the website to a point that we were penalized by Google. So we were looking for a more scalable solution: our new website should be fast and offer a great reading experience to new potential users. It should allow our marketing / content users to easily add new blog content and translate it. At the same time we wanted to be able to create custom and beautiful designs that can be reused to create marketing landing pages etc.

When we came across tinloof, it became obvious pretty quickly that they would fulfill all of our requirements: They were suggesting to build a modular website using a modern tech-stack on top of an advanced CMS-tool (sanity.io). This would ensure very fast loading times as well as give our content team the flexibility to manage the site and create new pages without the support of developers.

The scope of work included the entire relaunch of our website starting at making key decisions of technologies being used on the new website, helping refine our design proposals, suggestions on technical SEO questions and how to structure our CMS. And then the implementation of the website.

We've worked directly with Seif who is one of the founder of tinloof.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

After launching our website we have seen the site speed increase dramatically, all our Google core web vitals are now in the Top 5%. This greatly enhances our SEO results. On a more subjective level: the new look & feel of the website is in a whole different league than our previous website.

We've coordinated our activities in a weekly 30-minutes call. The rest of the time it was very easy to align on the progress using slack, project mgmt board (notion) or ad-hoc calls if required.

I've been impressed by their substantial knowledge of CMS tools, technical SEO, and development and design skills. This makes it very easy to work together and move forward quickly.

We had a weekly catch-up, as we work quite dynamically as priorities changed and we needed to make shifts as we implemented projects. Scope of work was always defined upfront and Tinloof would propose a technical solution. We worked in a very agile and kanban style framework, picking up the most valuable tickets.

Our CMS is now full self serve, so anyone from a marketing or design teams can quickly setup new pages or test out ideas. This saves the business hiring technical engineers to implement page designs. Refer a friend and live chat are critical pieces to our business for sales and operations. Live chat will reduce impact of operations by over 40% and refer a friend could have a major impact on improving overall sales.

We used JIRA and slack. Tinloof were always great at updating me on any changes or issues, they also met all deadlines and made sure to keep all stakeholders up to date.

I think they should find more people like themselves to expand the business.

As a business, we wanted to evolve our website to enable marketing and content teams to self serve updating our key digital touch points as well as speed up our ability to launch new campaigns quickly. TinLoof embedded into our squad and worked with other internal team members to deliver through the priorities.

After launching the new pages, we saved apx 30% development time from engineers annually from the new ability for relevant teams to self serve site updates, and saw an improvement in overall rankings. The work delivered was high quality throughout with minor iterations required.

I've been very impressed with TinLoof, and specifically Seif - Seif embedded himself in our business' ways of working, using slack to communicate daily, joining scrum rituals and worked as an integrated member of the team. This meant work flow was seamless. TinLoof have been a pleasure to work with, promptly responding to requests when required, happy to provide support when needed, advising on timescales accurately and delivering when promised.

The Tinloof team is reliable, proactive, and knowledgeable. They delivered exactly what we needed in the timescales we needed them by, worked and communicated well with our internal teams and have provided training and documentation to support the teams.

Our corporate website is in the process of being migrated from a traditional CMS to a headless CMS. Omar from Tinloof was brought on board to help assist our team in Next.js development and various optimization projects over the past months. We also had projects supporting Marketing Team campaigns that Tinloof was instrumental in helping develop.

We originally searched online for freelancers in the EU, and after reviewing Tinloof's profile and previous work we selected them based on their projects, technical skills and cost estimate.

We established an ongoing working relationship with Tinloof in August of 2021. The projects Tinloof has helped us with have varied from the front end development of a landing page dedicated to showcasing the Sendinblue Carbon Footprint initiative, front end development of our new pricing offering page, and also the development of several key components for our components library.

Additionally, Omar has been instrumental in identifying key quick wins for website performance and helped drastically improve our Google Core Web Vitals in a short period of time.

Omar from Tinloof has been our main point of contact during our time working together, however we have also had a few workshops with Seif regarding performance and potential replacements for our Content Management System. Omar has been supporting us as a Next.js developer, though he has a great variety of other skills as well.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

After improvements from Omar and Tinloof we have seen a drastic increase in our websites performance, with nearly all of our Core Web Vitals (CLS, FCP, LCP) being brought to an acceptable range. Tinloof also helped us launch a new and beautifully designed Carbon Footprint Page with a complex calculator and dynamic functionality.

We have included Tinloof in our daily standup meetings and our company Slack. Additionally, they have their own dedicated tasks in our team’s Jira, and make contributions to our Github. They have always been super professional and efficient with their time with us.

They have given us solid and impactful advice from the beginning. They are not afraid to speak up to suggest where we can make improvements and and have delivered excellent and reliable code time and time again.

We produces the world's most luxurious cycle wear in our home county in England. I work as the website content manager and it is my job to ensure the content is up-to-date and relevant to new and existing customers.

They were in constant communication with and kept us updated with every step. At the end of their work, they had integrated a solution into our exist CMS site that was easy to use and simple to understand.

I’m the founder and director of Hanabi Agency. We’re a digital agency that builds websites and develops digital strategies for mostly e-commerce clients.

What challenge were you trying to address with Tinloof?

Our agency was going through a rebranding process, and we were looking to build a new website. We had started the project with our own design team, but we were running out of time to get it built while supporting our existing clients. That’s why we engaged Tinloof.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

First, we shared with Tinloof our Figma designs and a brief of the technologies that we wanted the website to be built with. We also made sure to outline certain SEO aspects that we needed to see on the site. We planned to be hosted on a green server environment, so it was important for us to have a fast and high-performing website. This would ensure that visitors didn't use up too much energy when they browse the site.

Tinloof proceeded to code and develop based on our initial designs. They built the frontend of the site in HTML and integrated APIs such as Klaviyo, which would tie in with our email marketing efforts, and Notion, which would help us manage the customer information that comes through contact forms. Their team used Next.js, which is connected to our CMS and database.

I already knew that I wanted to use Sanity as a CMS for the website, so I went onto the Slack community for that platform to ask if anyone would be interested in developing a new website for us. Tinloof got in touch with me through there, and we came to an agreement. Since I’m a developer as well, I had confidence that they were the right people to collaborate with.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked together from January–April 2022.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We’ve used tools like Google Lighthouse to asses the website Tinloof built, and the metrics have told us that it is indeed fast and accessible. Though it’s only been up and running for a few weeks, I’m really happy with how the site turned out. I intend to work with their team again in the future. 

How did Tinloof perform from a project management standpoint?

Tinloof hit the deadlines and budget that they had set. They gave me access to their Notion, where we created tasks and reviewed the website. We were in contact almost daily on Slack. I’m really pleased with how things went.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They know what they’re talking about. It was a really pleasant experience being able to have a meaningful conversation with them. There was never any pushback from their end.

Are there any areas they could improve?

In the beginning, we didn’t have a clear date of when we were going to be able to put content on the website. That meant that we were holding things up since we didn’t establish a specific point in the project for bringing in content. It wasn’t a failure on their part, but simply an area we didn’t communicate and work through together.

Make sure you create a clear brief of requirements.

This is a completely new exercise for us a company and we needed a great online touchpoint our patients can interact with - in a variety of ways. We hired tinloof to build this website from scratch as a stand-alone website.

We were looking for a partner who could hit the grund running. Our briefing was far from perfect but tinloof was very proactive with feedback and recommendations how to finalize the specifications.

Having had worked with parts of their team before, I also knew about the quality of work they deliver. Overall, it was competitively priced and they clearly had a track record of delivering their projects.

We are about to launch the pilot project shortly - and the page is a part of that. We got very good feedback from users so far.

We had calls around twice a week and a very direct communication between PMs on both sides via MS Teams and email. They worked at a remarkable speed.

As mentioned above: our briefing was not great - and we agreed to start regardless. It was a trade-off between "speed of execution" and "pixel-perfect in every way". Most of their interpretation was great but we had to jointly rework some parts. However, I would probably do it the same way again.
