Web Design for Digital Agency
"It was a really pleasant experience being able to have a meaningful conversation with them."

the review
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the founder and director of Hanabi Agency. We’re a digital agency that builds websites and develops digital strategies for mostly e-commerce clients.
What challenge were you trying to address with Tinloof?
Our agency was going through a rebranding process, and we were looking to build a new website. We had started the project with our own design team, but we were running out of time to get it built while supporting our existing clients. That’s why we engaged Tinloof.
What was the scope of their involvement?
First, we shared with Tinloof our Figma designs and a brief of the technologies that we wanted the website to be built with. We also made sure to outline certain SEO aspects that we needed to see on the site. We planned to be hosted on a green server environment, so it was important for us to have a fast and high-performing website. This would ensure that visitors didn't use up too much energy when they browse the site.
Tinloof proceeded to code and develop based on our initial designs. They built the frontend of the site in HTML and integrated APIs such as Klaviyo, which would tie in with our email marketing efforts, and Notion, which would help us manage the customer information that comes through contact forms. Their team used Next.js, which is connected to our CMS and database.
What is the team composition?
We worked with the two founders of Tinloof. They’re both developers.
How did you come to work with Tinloof?
I already knew that I wanted to use Sanity as a CMS for the website, so I went onto the Slack community for that platform to ask if anyone would be interested in developing a new website for us. Tinloof got in touch with me through there, and we came to an agreement. Since I’m a developer as well, I had confidence that they were the right people to collaborate with.
What is the status of this engagement?
We worked together from January–April 2022.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We’ve used tools like Google Lighthouse to asses the website Tinloof built, and the metrics have told us that it is indeed fast and accessible. Though it’s only been up and running for a few weeks, I’m really happy with how the site turned out. I intend to work with their team again in the future.
How did Tinloof perform from a project management standpoint?
Tinloof hit the deadlines and budget that they had set. They gave me access to their Notion, where we created tasks and reviewed the website. We were in contact almost daily on Slack. I’m really pleased with how things went.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They know what they’re talking about. It was a really pleasant experience being able to have a meaningful conversation with them. There was never any pushback from their end.
Are there any areas they could improve?
In the beginning, we didn’t have a clear date of when we were going to be able to put content on the website. That meant that we were holding things up since we didn’t establish a specific point in the project for bringing in content. It wasn’t a failure on their part, but simply an area we didn’t communicate and work through together.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Make sure you create a clear brief of requirements.

Please describe your company and your position there.
I'm one of the Geschäftsführer/Co-Founder of IN THEORY GmbH. IN THEORY GmbH is a Event Technology company specialising in Digital / Hybrid Events.
For what projects/services did your company hire Tinloof, and what were your goals?
We were looking for some great developers to work with us on multiple projects. We were looking to expand what we could offer in terms of Digital Event Platforms and customised Web Development.
How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?
After seeing many positive reviews online of Tinloof's work, checking out their website, we decided to set up a meeting. The communication was easy and they seemed excited about the projects we were discussing and to really know what they were talking about and weren't afraid to give their opinion.
They instantly felt like they would fit well with our team and way of working. After throwing some ideas back and forth and further discussions it was clear it would be a great collaboration.
Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.
One of our major projects was to develop an Event Platform together. This included 5 separate phases of deliverables with different areas of the platform being focused on in each phase, leading up to two event days where the platform hosted 1000's of users.
Designs were provided by our client and the development was done by Tinloof. The website was built with React & Sanity.io and had features such as Login, File Uploads, a custom timezone selector, Livestreaming, integration of WebGL animations provided by client.
How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?
We worked very closely with Omar and Seif as the main developers from Tinloof on this project. Our experience was fantastic. Tinloof are absolute magicians when it comes to web development.
Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?
The platform we were working on together had a very specific purpose, to deliver an event for 1000s of attendees on a specific date. They exceeded all expectations, delivered everything on time and went above and beyond to ensure we delivered a top quality product that was fast, responsive and delivered all features we needed.
Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.
We used predominantly Notion & Slack as our project management & communication tools, however with our client we also used Figma & Trello for Design handovers & QA respectively. This made communication very simple & organised and it was always possible to have a good overview of what was going on.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
Along with being extremely knowledgeable, and professional Omar and Seif are also just genuinely lovely and fun people which makes working with them insanely easy! They work super hard and they take pride in their work, meaning that what they deliver has the time and care needed to make a really great product.
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
No. We are very much looking forward to future projects together and would absolutely recommend them if you are looking to build any sort of web product.

I am a co-founder and the architect of the product.
For what projects/services did your company hire Tinloof, and what were your goals?
Seif, Omar, and their collaborators were entitled to build from zero a complex website, from the back-end architecture, the CMS and the front-end.
The project lasted 4 months, and consisted in developing a hub of information, aggregating multiple sources automatically, and displaying selected posts across different sections in the platform.
Given the high level of automatization, together with the customization via CMS, the job involved a complex architecture and many challenges.
How did you select Tinloof and what were the deciding factors?
The selection process as lasted two months and has reviewed more than 30 candidates. Tinloof excelled in:
- front-end skills
- motivation and commitment to the project
- project management skills
Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.
In particular, the following product features were required:
- automatic crawler of posts - blog editor
- strong CMS, allowing to:
- to select post to have / not have on the platform
- edit posts
- create new posts
- edit all the pages and content inclueded
- automatic ranker of posts
- powerful carousels to display posts
- effective front-end (fast, responsive, and SEO optimised) compromising of ~25 pages - much more...
Technologies used were Java, Javascript, CSS, mango, Python, etc.
How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?
The developing team under Tinloof was made of four people:
- Front-end developer (Tinloof co-founder)
- Front-end developer (Tinloof co-founder)
- Back-end developer (Tinloof collaborator)
- UI/UX designer (Tinloof collaborator)
Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?
The platform performs at cutting-edge levels in performance (1.3 seconds to load the heaviest page), SEO (lighthouse score of 98%), accessibility and responsiveness (mobile is particularly excellent).
After product validation, our users were amazed by the UI/UX design, something looking "professional, even better than dominant incumbents in the market".
Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timelines.
As regards to communication, by using Trello, video calls, and instant messaging, they were transparent in showing their pipeline of work and demonstrated instant availability (a call away at any time!) to respond to every request. Last but not least, timelines were always respected and the development was accelerated thanks to Tinloof's "push to output" mindset.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
Tinloof surprised in project management skills. Upon contract signature, they promised to be the partner to trust to manage different people involved (from other developers to designers).
They brought efficiency to the project development by being the "light-house" of the wider IT team. Thus, never lagging-behind, they pushed the project management to the next level.

Please describe your company and your position there.
We produces the world's most luxurious cycle wear in our home county in England. I work as the website content manager and it is my job to ensure the content is up-to-date and relevant to new and existing customers.
For what projects/services did your company hire Tinloof, and what were your goals?
We had recently updated our e-commerce site to a Headless CMS and we noticed that we were generating a lot of traffic from Japan and South Korea. Being based in the UK, we knew that there was a possible language barrier and so we needed to localise our entire e-commerce site.
We needed every piece of content to be localised into multiple languages in order to improve our customer experience.
How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?
We spoke to multiple agencies and individuals but upon meeting Tinloof, we knew that they were the ones for the job. In our initial meeting, their professionalism and knowledge shone through.
Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.
As mentioned, we needed our entire site localising into multiple languages. They took time to identify the problems and spoke about our needs as a company. They then created a clear plan of action and proposed their timeframes and job list.
They were in constant communication with and kept us updated with every step. At the end of their work, they had integrated a solution into our exist CMS site that was easy to use and simple to understand.
How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?
We work main with Seif. He was incredibly helpful and professional. He answered any questions we had and was also contactable if we had any questions.
Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?
We are in the early stages of launching our localisation but the backend is incredibly easy to use and our team needed very little training to get started.
Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.
They were always in communication with our team and provided us with constant updates on a dedicated Slack Channel.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
They had a wealth of knowledge. All questions were quickly answered, and problems were promptly fixed.
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
None. 100% recommend!

Please describe your company and your position there.
European MedTech company with around 8,000 employees. I work in the team for Commercial Strategy and Innovation.
For what projects/services did your company hire Tinloof, and what were your goals?
I am running a business innovation topic directly catered to patients who are getting in touch with our products. This is a completely new exercise for us a company and we needed a great online touchpoint our patients can interact with - in a variety of ways. We hired tinloof to build this website from scratch as a stand-alone website.
How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?
We were looking for a partner who could hit the grund running. Our briefing was far from perfect but tinloof was very proactive with feedback and recommendations how to finalize the specifications.
Having had worked with parts of their team before, I also knew about the quality of work they deliver. Overall, it was competitively priced and they clearly had a track record of delivering their projects.
Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.
We had a joint kick-off where I shared our goals, product and design intentions. They took over the briefing, pulled us in for feedback or open questions. They did everything, from buying & setting up the domain, building the page, embedding additional services for forms, webtracking, etc.. Everything was very professional, transparent and quick.
How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?
I worked with 2 people from tinloof.
Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?
We are about to launch the pilot project shortly - and the page is a part of that. We got very good feedback from users so far.
Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.
We had calls around twice a week and a very direct communication between PMs on both sides via MS Teams and email. They worked at a remarkable speed.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
zero bullshit - pragmatic - They're driven to achieve good results.
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
As mentioned above: our briefing was not great - and we agreed to start regardless. It was a trade-off between "speed of execution" and "pixel-perfect in every way". Most of their interpretation was great but we had to jointly rework some parts. However, I would probably do it the same way again.
