I’m the COO of the Florida Center for Hormones and Wellness. We’re a medical practice that focuses primarily on hormone replacement therapy and other wellness treatments.

We needed a marketing agency to lead our SEO campaigns.

What was the scope of their involvement?
Thrive Internet Marketing Agency currently manages our SEO effort. Starting the engagement with them was fairly easy because we weren’t starting from scratch. We’d been doing SEO for years, so there was a lot of data for them to work from while evaluating our goals. The onboarding call consisted of building a dialogue rather than going over keywords or statistics. They listened to me describe our company and the industry while writing down thorough notes. We wanted to start slow and see how they perform before expanding our involvement with them.
The first month of the project involved Thrive Internet Marketing Agency performing their due diligence regarding the backend. We didn’t hear from them much during that time, but I knew they were doing their thing. We’ve only contracted them for 10 hours a month, and that time can get burned pretty quickly. They’re reasonably transparent about how they use their time on the backend but could stand to be more forthcoming with their frontend contributions. They provided a mid-month report for October, but it wasn’t as detailed as I would’ve liked. Their work has yet to produce anything for us, but it’s still early enough in the project for that not to be their fault. We’re also currently considering a proposal for them to oversee a digital advertising campaign via Facebook.

I allocated the task to my marketing coordinator who searched online and considered multiple firms. I used to own several marketing agencies, so I knew exactly the kind of team I wanted. After the initial consultation with Thrive Internet Marketing Agency, I felt that they’d make great partners. I liked the personalities of the people I spoke with and knew they cared about our project. Therefore, hiring them was an easy decision.

We started working with them in September 2018 and the engagement is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Thrive Internet Marketing Agency only recently started this project, so it’s still early to evaluate meaningful metrics. They created a video after the first month that showed there wasn’t any notable statistics to share due to the time it took for them perform a thorough analysis. Admittedly, that surprised me considering how much historical data we have. The subsequent update during the following month indicated that the number of unique hits has dropped on a specific page. That email is roughly three sentences long, so it doesn’t contain statistical analysis. I have faith in their abilities, but what they’re capable of accomplishing inside an hour is yet to be seen.
How did Thrive Internet Marketing Agency perform from a project management standpoint?
They’re extremely detail-oriented and track their time down to the second. Looking at the report they provided at the end of September; we can see exactly how many hours they worked and even what meetings were held. They’ve also been a great team to work with thus far. Every person I've spoken to at Thrive Internet Marketing Agency is delightful, intelligent, and sweet.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They’re incredibly responsive whenever I reach out to them or send an email. Their personalities are fabulous, so communicating with them is a pleasure.
Are there any areas they could improve?
I don't necessarily feel like the communication is in-depth enough. After reading the last mid-month report, I don't I have a clear understanding of the deliverables planned for October. Also, I would’ve preferred the first monthly report to be a live meeting instead of a video. The video didn’t allow me to ask any questions or facilitate an in-depth conversation regarding the project’s goals. Instead, I had to read everything on my own and reach back out to them. That was particularly disappointing because they originally promised live update meetings at the start of the engagement. The plan was to transition the update meetings to video recordings once we established a rhythm.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Approach the engagement with definitive expectations to help manage their output. Marketing agencies tend to know what they should be doing, while not necessarily having access to the resources required to deliver what they promise. Keep that in mind while working with an external firm.

Along with the numeric reports, I would appreciate expert suggestions about specific things our company can do to improve month over month. The team provides a lot of data, but we don't always understand what those numbers mean or why they've decreased or increased. Proving more explanations would be an area with room for improvement.

I’m the CEO at Approved Course, an online driving course provider mainly in the state of Texas. We offer defensive driving courses for ticket dismissal and insurance discounts. We also refer people to other companies for classes that we’re not an approved provider for.

What challenge were you trying to address with Thrive Internet Marketing Agency?
We have many sites in different industries. Our biggest struggle had been getting our main website to rank well. Between the variety of information on our site and the industry itself, we might have been spread too thin instead of focusing on the actual services we provide.
After having little success with an in-house resource, we decided to try the agency route again. We hadn’t used one in a while due to some negative experiences over the past 10 years.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
Thrive Internet Marketing Agency helped us narrow our focus to ranking for relevant keywords in our market. About 85% of their work involves targeting SEO, but they also improved our existing PPC campaign.
We haven’t made that many structural changes. They brought down a few pages to flatten the structure a bit, but the overall layout has remained the same. To ensure the content is understandable for search engines and matches our users’ intent, they’ve done a lot of on-page optimization. Consistent updates show search engines that we’re relevant rather than wasting time sending uninterested users to our site.

Thrive Internet Marketing Agency has been great. They keep everything transparent. I can log in to their system and see how many minutes they spent on each task and the results from those efforts. This tool shows the entire project, lists upcoming tasks and lets me communicate with the team. We also use email, phone, and a video conferencing tool. Once a month, we have a video call to go over the previous month’s work and upcoming plans.
What did you find most impressive about them?
I really like how Thrive Internet Marketing Agency’s entire business is structured. Their teammates work from different locations. On our video calls, I talk to Carlos who is in Orlando while Katie (PPC Specialist, Thrive Internet Marketing Agency) is in Austin. It’s apparent how much they care about bringing in the best level of talent. They have resources nationwide and bring everyone together using technology.
Are there any areas they could improve?
The only slightly negative I experienced was the initial communication breakdown. Since then, it was much better and has proven to be worthwhile for me to continue with them.

Always ask questions. Thrive Internet Marketing Agency has always been great about explaining everything that they’re working on. They go above and beyond to make sure clients know and what that means for you and your company.
Over time, I explained to Carlos that I much appreciated all the explanations but am not a typical client. I’ve been doing online marketing development for the past 10 years and have a firm foundation of the basics.
