A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this
client over the phone. Below is an edited
transcript.
BACKGROUND
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I am the digital director at Global Traveler, a travel magazine that has three affiliated websites. Global Traveler is our main publication, which features a print and an online version and is geared towards business luxury travelers. Our second site is Trazee Travel, which is an online publication geared towards millennial travelers. Our third site is Wherever Family and is for family travel. I oversee all of our digital products, including our websites, newsletters, and all digital advertising.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
What challenge were you trying to address with Think it First?
We’re a small publication and don’t have anyone in-house who does any coding or web design. We were looking for someone to help with website maintenance.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
Think it First initially was responsible for day-to-day fixes to our websites, but their role has since expanded. Their team went on to redesign all three of our WordPress websites. They also completed backend development for the sites and now host them for us.
The first website they worked on for us was Trazee Travel. We had not done any design work since we first launched, so the site was pretty out of date. They improved the site’s design but also fixed the issues we had with the search feature and our categorization system. Think it First also contributed to our advertising and allowed us to host videos on the site.
What is the team composition?
We were in contact with three members of the Think it First team.
How did you come to work with Think it First?
A member of their team reached out to us on a cold call about doing a web project for us. After some back and forth over pricing and their processes, we decided to work with them. We liked that they had some experience with advertising.
What is the status of this engagement?
Our ongoing relationship with Think it First began in February 2018.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
It’s been helpful to have a bit more flexibility with our advertising. We can now offer our clients videos and a variety of other options on the sites. The redesigned sites look great. We’ve gotten great feedback from an aesthetic standpoint but also on their usability.
Think it First worked out all of the speed issues we had been having before. It’s also been nice to have everything hosted in one place, which we didn’t have in the past. The sites look amazing and work better than ever.
How did Think it First perform from a project management standpoint?
Think it First is great! I go back and forth with them the most and I usually don’t have to wait very long for a response. Even if they don’t have the answer right away, they let me know that they’ll get back to me with it as soon as possible. That’s been really helpful for getting things done.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Their ability to answer things in a timely way has been really helpful. We understand they have other projects going on but we’re very deadline driven and need a quick response. We’re also very happy with how the sites look. They’re beautiful from a design standpoint and are in line with our brand. We’re proud of Think it First’s work!
Are there any areas they could improve?
We had a lot of things going on with them while working on the redesign, so I think a handful of things fell through the cracks. We would have to remind them about the little things we wanted done. Some of that was due to the fact that we were working with multiple members of Think it First’s team and wouldn’t stop and make sure everybody was on the same page. Once we talked about that, everything got settled and resolved.

Think it First redesigned a website for a veterinary education platform. Their team improved the visual appearance of the site as well as completing UI design.
The website has received positive user feedback and features an improved payment system, making membership easier for international users. Think it First is communicative and responsive, addressing issues as they arise. Their team is knowledgable and professional.
The client submitted this review online.
BACKGROUND
Please describe your company and your position there.
I am the COO and Co-Founder of VETgirl - we are the #1 online CE provider of continuing education for busy veterinary professionals.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
For what projects/services did your company hire Think it First?
Website re-design. We wanted to completely change and improve both the front-end and back-end of the website - a completely new, re-branded website from the ground up.
What were your goals for this project?
We wanted to improve on not only the visual appearance of the website - but the complete user experience from membership to educational content access.
SOLUTION
How did you select this vendor?
We had worked with Think It First previously for smaller projects on the older website. We loved their work, responsiveness, and support. We did not "shop around" - we appreciated their expertise and support and chose them to help create our new website.
Describe the project in detail.
After months of internal review - we worked with Think It First to create a step by step approach to designing a new website. We did not simply want a better looking website (which we got...) we wanted to the complete user experience to change. Think It First helped us choose a backend system for membership, customized this to our needs and then designed a new, amazing front-end, visual experience to go along with the back-end improvement and support.
What was the team composition?
We had an amazing team of 5 working on the site - from developers to project managers - everyone had a say, support, and instruction throughout the process. From emails to phone calls to in-person meetings - their responsiveness has been nothing short of amazing.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
It is a little soon to see results - but I would estimate we are already seeing some in both user feedback (they love the new site) to easier international memberships (better payment platform) to a custom approach to educational content.
How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?
The team was amazing in their responsiveness and support. We have an open line of communication and if there is an urgent issue - they address it ASAP! If it is not urgent, then we work together to find a solution as well - equally responsive.
What did you find most impressive about this company?
Hard to say - we were impressed with so many attributes. I will choose 2. The first is their guidance. They helped us choose what we needed to improve the platform in a methodical, outlined approach. The second, maybe equally important - their responsiveness. IT and web design can be challenging if this is not your primary profession - and they really work hard to make sure you understand - and walk you through the process.
Are there any areas for improvement?
I am sure we could outline one tiny issue or another - but to me, that would be silly. They were great to work with. Bottom line. We are very happy with Think It First and will continue to work with (and recommend) them!

Think it First created branded designs to increase audience engagement for a legal services company. The team designed ads, print materials, and a landing page to be used at trade shows.
Internal stakeholders are pleased with their designs and excited about the potential impact of the new landing page. Flexible and efficient, the team was transparent about project needs and responded well to changes and requests. Their ability to exceed expectations set them apart.
The client submitted this review online.
BACKGROUND
Please describe your company and your position there.
I am the Systems Analyst at an incorporating company headquartered in Dover, DE with offices in DC, MD, and FL. We serve clients all over the world. I provide internal tech support and liaison with various IT professionals.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
For what projects/services did your company hire Think it First ?
We've used Think It First for several projects so far with great success. Our most recent project was updating our marketing materials since they were related to the last iteration of our website (which they also redesigned). Think It First took it a step further and discussed with us a different way to think of marketing.
What were your goals for this project?
Our goal was simply to redesign our client folder and the inserts within to more closely match our website. We also were interested in seeing if there was anything we should change with our marketing strategy. We also needed a way to more fully engage our audience when we go to trade shows.
SOLUTION
How did you select this vendor?
We received a few recommendations for web designers from our IT group. We talked with a few of them, and we liked what Think It First had to say. They've done several projects for us so far and we've been happy with the results each time.
Describe the scope of their work in detail.
After discussing the materials we already had with a small group of us over the phone, they suggested we pare down the materials from the large quantity of inserts we previously had to 3 sheets that better showed our core services without overwhelming our clients. They helped redesign our folder and the three sheets. We also discussed adding a website landing page for our trade shows; they designed and discussed with me how I can continue to manage the page and create new ones as needed. Finally, they also designed 2 ads for us and a postcard sized print material we can hand out, all for the upcoming trade show.
What was the team composition?
We worked very closely with one team member for this project who did the design for the print materials & the ads and the layout for the landing page, but we also received input from another member of their team.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
This project has recently been completed, so we have yet to receive any feedback so far (outside of internal feedback, which has been positive). We are excited to see what the outcome is, especially with the addition of the new landing page. In regards to the other work they have done, we have seen more orders come in and less frustration on the part of our clients and our staff because the order forms make sense and are easy to follow.
How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?
It was very effective. Brad is excellent at communication and letting us know what he needed from us. He works quickly and his designs are excellent. He is clear when he talks to us. He is also able to handle any new requests or changes in direction we had throughout the project.
What did you find most impressive about this company?
Their designs are fresh and modern, and they have the knowledge and know-how to back up what they create. No matter what project we throw at them, they successfully are able to meet and exceed our expectations.
Are there any areas for improvement?
The only thing that we have noticed is that their costs are sometimes higher than we expect, but considering they are able to handle some curveballs we throw at them, we feel the value for the cost is fair.

BACKGROUND
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the marketing manager for Wingspan, an IQVIA company. We’re a smaller entity of software developers for content management solutions.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
What challenge were you trying to address with Think It First?
Our existing site's appearance, functionality, and content needed to be updated. We wanted the site to be optimized, dynamic, and engaging to increase lead generation. By modifying the site and enhancing our brand image, we wanted to display ourselves as an industry leader.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
Think It First began the project by attempting to rework our old site, but we decided to start over with a fresh look. We had several initial discussions about our long-term objectives, our visions, and the overall goal outcome we wanted from the project. We laid out our requirements for the site architecture, navigation tools, and the technical aspects of our visual identity, including the header, footer, menus, and graphics.
Next, Think It First worked with us on the messaging and positioning we wanted our site to convey. They created landing pages, including the home page with our categorized menu and some slider features. We have several offerings, including clinical, regulatory, commercial, and service, so they created an organized way to navigate these categories.
From there, we had a deep dive session about the product content and service pages. The Think It First team helped us simplify the user experience and reshaping our content to emphasize our overall message. They also made quality suggestions for visual content, including video elements which we later added.
What is the team composition?
We worked with a small team that included Brad (Art Director, Think It First), Joe (Partner, Think It First), and Jamie (Operations Director, Think It First). They served as our main points of contact, and delegated to others within their team, making communication easy.
How did you come to work with Think It First?
I received around a dozen recommendations, and I narrowed the search based on locality, familiarity with my industry, reputation, and cost. In terms of price, Think It First was in the middle of all the agencies, but we felt they’d bring strong value to the project. Their philosophy for the end goal and their reverse engineering approach stood out to us.
How much have you invested in them?
We spent around $30,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We worked together on this project from March–September 2018.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
The new site's architecture, aesthetics, and functionality have dramatically improved, giving us a fresh appearance that translates into our sales collateral. Think It First’s work significantly helped our lead generation capabilities, site traffic, and overall SEO. The UX features and functionalities make the pages easier to navigate. We can now present ourselves as a cutting-edge software development brand, which assists our broader marketing and communications projects.
How did Think It First perform from a project management standpoint?
We had weekly calls and multiple meetings at their office. It felt like an intimate process, but because of the small team, we were able to get tasks done quickly without waiting for committee approvals. Their team provided useful proposals that outlined the timelines and requirements so we could manage our expectations. Though they have a different approach, there was synergy between the advice they gave us and our goals. They had a methodical approach which expedited our timelines—it was a highly collaborative engagement.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Their extensive experience in the industry gave them instant insight to our needs as a client. They knew how to respond in a way that would solve our issues quickly and efficiently. Their recommendations helped us find the right direction, and their instincts led to a fluid execution process. Their team displayed high levels of commitment, creativity, and expertise, which drove us to tangible results. I gave them a lot of options for content and visuals, and they were able to keep me open-minded and provide real-life examples.
Are there any areas they could improve?
I can’t think of anything for them to improve on; they accomplished the project and functioned well as a small team.

When building the website, we initially had an introductory meeting with their team, so they could become familiar with our company, messaging, and goals. What is the team composition?
We work with about three to four people regularly and communicate at least five or six times a month.
How did you come to work with Think It First?
They actually sought us out when they were reaching out to nearby companies that they thought could benefit from their services. We felt comfortable with their team; they were level-head thinkers and easy to work with.
How much have you invested with them?
We've invested over $25,000.

We’re a new firm. We already built a website, but wanted our site to be more responsive and help us interact with our investors and customers. The website needed to highlight who we are and our experience.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
They first conducted a discovery phase to understand our business model, what we’re trying to achieve in the market, and our audience. We sent them our past work and created a high-level wireframe together. From there, we started flushing it out with additional images, dynamic pages, and interactive functions.
Our landing page was an important highlight of our site; they went with a minimalistic approach. We focused on communicating our city-centric approach and highlighted our connectivity to buildings, transportation, mobility, and energy consumption. Their team helped us keep our content simple and organized it into three core sections—who we are, how we invest, and our partnered companies.
They also integrated a lot of media content that constantly shows our pulse with various markets, who we listen to, and news from our partners. Their team showcased how we invest in big thematic trends and the industrial economy through our partner’s quotes and some professional imagery. They suggested we have you know some way for people who are visiting the site to connect with us, whether it's potential investors or companies. Thus, they helped us create a contact form as well.
What is the team composition?
I was interacting primarily with two of their partners. However, we knew they had a development team working in the background.
How did you come to work with Think it First?
We were recommended to them by one of our partners. We were looking at about four different firms including them and asked them for proposals. Through this process, we picked Think it First.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started in April 2018 and finished the work in June 2018.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
After our most recent press release, we had a lot of web traffic. A lot of potential partners filled out the form Think it First created. It was a really interesting way to engage with customers-definitely a great feature that we didn't have previously.
How did Think it First perform from a project management standpoint?
In the beginning, we conducted an all-hands meeting in our office with a couple of guys from our side and from their side. We communicated at least once a week and three times a week if we needed to get something complex done. We worked free-flowingly, and I sent them notes during the day to configure. They were incredibly professional and responsive. Their team sometimes even beat our deadline. They were always on the ball. They were delayed only if there were guys out on vacation, or if they needed additional time to review internal processes. They did great driving the agenda and process.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They’ve never done a website for a venture capital business before. Their ability to sit down with us and listen closely to understand our business model was impressive. I was worried at first, but they were extremely thoughtful with their designs and approach to showcasing our company.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Take the time, in the beginning, to understand what kind of content you want and what you want to accomplish with your audience. It’ll help smooth the process.

BACKGROUND
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the manager of marketing and business development for The FlexPro Group. We are a life sciences consulting company specialized in project management and strategy execution.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
What challenge were you trying to address with Think it First?
Our three service areas were R&D, supply chain, and business technology. We determined that those were too broad to connect with our audience. We decided that it would be best to become more focused and specific on exactly what we do. We deduced that we wanted to represent ourselves in four service areas. We went to a more focused set that included product development commercialization, supply chain optimization, integration management, and early-stage acceleration. This enabled us to focus better and communicate who we were.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
Think it First has been our graphics and technology provider for the better part of three years. In the last six months, they redesigned the graphic representation of our services and completed a full website redesign.
Think it First helped us to think through how we could best represent our company graphically and on the website. They added valuable input to our planning stages and to how we decided to represent ourselves as a company. They came up with a visual representation and determined how we could leverage that to connect with consumers better. They delivered a mock-up, and, after a few meetings, we gave the approval. Finally, after some negotiation to create the ideal website model, they developed it and continued to implement our feedback as they completed the work.
The “What We Do” section of the website will lead users to a landing page where they can select from our four services. They completely redesigned the look-and-feel as well as the content. They replaced outdated general messaging with specific service descriptions which are color-coded and match our company’s logo.
Users can scroll down, find out about our services, and link to a way to contact us. Think it First connected that form to our CRM software so we can connect with consumers easily.
We are able to freely add content as we develop it. A large part of the work they undertook—other than tightening up fonts and making things bolder with new pictures—was adding functionality so that we could communicate our offering through each of the tabs under “What We Do”.
Additionally, we wanted to make sure that our marketing materials matched the new look and feel of the website. They completely redesigned our double-sided sales brochure.
What is the team composition?
We had one direct contact who was responsible for the development work. One of their partners was in charge of overseeing the engagement and making sure that the project scope was fulfilled.
How did you come to work with Think it First?
They were hired before I started working with the company so I’m not sure how we initially came into contact. They know how we were founded, what our mission is, and what we do. We continue to work with them because of the good relationship with the company, their responsiveness, and overall quality of work.
How much have you invested with them?
Over the last two years, we’ve spent over $25,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
Our first strategy meetings for the current project took place at the very beginning of 2018. We launched four months later.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
The finished product was ultimately better than we imagined. First, a number of new leads have come in through the CRM link they provided, which makes it very easy for us to utilize the software. Second, the website is a great place where I can send customers or potential clients to give them a much better, clearer reference to who we are. Lastly, the sales brochure also makes it easy for us to communicate who we are and what we do and do it in a way that makes us comfortable, proud, and confident thanks to the work done by Think it First.
How did Think it First perform from a project management standpoint?
We communicated in-person and over the phone almost daily. They’ve exceeded expectations in how was easy it was to communicate with them. They’re accessible during the day and even after business hours.
The ongoing maintenance has been great. Anything we’ve needed to be updated has exceeded expectations.
I can’t say anything but good things about their timelines, communication, and the final product.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They are responsive and willing to work. Making the graphic representations on the sales brochures match our website was an undertaking that I was expecting would take a while to complete. We wanted to use the brochures for a few events we had registered for. They were able to take care of the request in just a week. Their ability to accommodate customers and the work they’re willing to provide is the most impressive. Their customer service is excellent.
Also, they are educated and well-versed in their space. They give more than just the services they offer; they also give an understanding of why things are done the way they’re done. They helped me learn and grow in this area, allowing me to become a better tech administrator and content creator. They were willing to share the knowledge of why they were recommending and doing what they were doing.
Are there any areas they could improve?
No. That’s why we keep going back.
Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?
Set expectations and communicate deadlines. They’re able to accommodate the work as long as we give them a projected timeline for when we need it and a reason for needing it. They will bump it immediately to the priority list if you have a good relationship with them.
If the client is just starting out, they need to be clear, open, and accepting. Think It First knows what they’re talking about. Taking their recommendations and incorporating them into the business strategy is important.

Think it First decluttered and reorganized a WordPress website. The site includes several new pages for data that was previously on the home page. It features several opportunities to request interaction.
Think it First did a great job of modernizing the site. The new layout gives more opportunities for growth on the newly designed pages and removes the limits imposed by the former site. The friendly team executed the job with professionalism, great communication, and excellent project management.

transcript.
BACKGROUND
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I am a partner with PharmaBioSource, a unique consulting company for the pharmaceutical industry. We help pharmaceutical and biotech companies buy and sell manufacturing facilities which may include pharmaceutical products, people, and existing business. We also consult for life sciences or healthcare investment companies that are looking to invest millions of dollars in pharma, biotech, and medical device companies to help launch a product or do capital investment. We do risk-based supply chain analysis, which could be looking for regulatory issues or examining suppliers that they use to make their products.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
What challenge were you trying to address with Think it First?
We put together a website in 2001 and updated it four years ago. It was functional, but not contemporary. It was outdated and we wanted to freshen it up and give it a more modern look. We don’t get a lot of business from our website, but it is something we use for brand recognition and to give our customers our background. It is also used to post new facilities for sale.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
Think it First reorganized our previous website’s functionality in a way that is more contemporary. The site had bios for people that work here, and they helped us organize them and add headshots. They created a separate page for the facilities for sale and for past transactions. They also created a separate page for events we attend with the ability to insert a graphic and a link to the tradeshow and a way to set up a meeting with us. We wanted to promote interaction with us, so they added a call to action to contact us in other places on the website too. They recommended a separate page for our news and insights as well.
To maintain consistency with our fonts and colors, we are considering using them for graphic design work on our marketing materials in the future.
What is the team composition?
We worked with a salesperson who is also a founder in the beginning, and we worked with Brad (Partner, Think it First), our lead person, after that. I’m sure there were other people behind the scenes as well.
How did you come to work with Think it First?
We explored several design firms, some local and some overseas. We got quotes from five companies and spoke to a few on the phone. Think it First wasn’t the most nor the least expensive, but the cost was reasonable. They are within walking distance of our office so they came and gave us a pitch and showed us examples of their work, which were impressive. It was convenient to have them close by to look at mockups or the status of the website as it progressed.
What is the status of this engagement?
We worked with them from October 2017–February 2018.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
They did a great job. The new website is a better representation of our brand compared to our previous one. Everyone at our company is impressed with it and happy.
How did Think it First perform from a project management standpoint?
They were great. Brad was very good at communicating status updates, prompting me when they needed something from us, or reminding us of milestones that we were supposed to meet and their deadlines.
We were in contact through email a couple times a week, and we had 3–4 meetings in their office to get visual updates. In the beginning, we used Google Docs where I could type in new things and change text around, which would then be updated on the website. If I had a question or wanted a change, I sent it to them and they made the change, which I would be able to see on the mockup through the link to the site as it was being built. There were times when I would submit 10 things I wanted to change, and they would take care of those or recommend we think about those aspects before we changed them. We collaborated to come up with the best changes. When 2–3 weeks remained in the project, they allowed me the freedom to make changes myself.
What did you find most impressive about them?
It was a small team that we dealt with, but dealing with one point person was extremely helpful.
Are there any areas they could improve?
The only thing I didn’t like about the process was the tool they used. I really wanted to see changes made immediately in the mockup of the website, but Google Docs wasn’t connected digitally to automatically update the site. They had to implement updates to the live mockup of the website, which took an extra day or two.
