I would not engage with Tessafold and will not recommend that anyone does with the current CEO. It is unfortunate as I had high hopes. The development resources were great for the most part, and given the right leadership team structure, I think that they are very valuable.

We've been collaborating with Tessafold for a considerable period. They've been supplying us with staff augmentation for different development projects.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
Recently, I took on a new project with a limited budget and brought in a team from Tessafold to assist.
Initially, I needed them to develop a mobile app for what we were doing. The team specializes in machine learning, generative AI, and natural language processing. They put together a very responsive Flutter application and another companion application that completes the other side of what our organization does.
They've worked on a native application that lives on the child's devices. The Tessafold team has been able to execute my plan well. Despite the significant challenges involved, they've delivered a successful proof of concept.
Apart from this project, we've done React apps, three law enforcement applications, and many other ongoing projects. I've really put them to full use.
What is the team composition?
I've been working with 20–25 developers. I asked for a scrum master and opted for an agile methodology. I needed to fill specific roles, and they assigned a system analyst, a business analyst, and a project manager, who is the CTO.
How did you come to work with Tessafold?
I stumbled upon them through an offshore connection. Specifically, one of their developers on staff was someone I'd worked with before and knew they did excellent work.
How much have you invested in them?
We've spent close to $200,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
The partnership with Tessafold began in March 2022, and it's ongoing.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
The entire Tessafold team is fantastic, and the quality is excellent. I've had several different code reviews from each one of the clients as well as myself, and the code quality has always been outstanding. We've seen a reduction in cost for sure, and we've also been able to time. Tessafold quickly adapted to US standards and the time zones, allowing for a truly agile process.
Furthermore, I also introduced them to a company where I hold the position of fractional CTO and assigned them to eight other projects. They've been able to deliver successfully on all of them.
How did Tessafold perform from a project management standpoint?
Initially, there were some bumps, but the team adjusted swiftly. Communication is always the most complex challenge. We have been able to adapt and make changes efficiently to ensure the successful delivery of my projects and the others we are working on.
They're proficient in English and work in the appropriate time zone, which enables me to effectively guide them to meet the coding standards and software development life cycle requirements of the United States. Integrating the whole process was seamless. Moreover, they're great at following instructions.
We strictly use Jira internally, but it depends on the client for all other communication. We use an internal Discord server, Slack, Microsoft Teams, or whatever the client needs.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They're quick to adapt and teachable, which is impressive. They've been able to staff up to specific certifications that I require, such as AWS certifications which are incredibly challenging to obtain. This added significant value not only to my personal project but also to all of my clients.
Are there any areas they could improve?
The biggest miss with Tessafold was that they were initially basing the level of the individuals, junior, mid, and senior, on how many years that person had been in the trade, which isn't the correct way to do it. They oversold people that had yet to be fully vetted.
Since then, we've helped them adapt to a much more thorough review process where someone can come in with great aptitude and jump into a 30-day probationary period from a junior to a senior, depending on their ability. They've swiftly adapted to some of the suggestions I've required to ensure I could bill for their services at the appropriate rate and deliver what my clients would expect.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Working with Tessafold has been a great experience. Over the time we have worked together, I've been able to help Tessafold adapt to wherever their client is at. There's a different level of visibility and a whole other level of accountability that Tessafold now adheres to due to my demands. Tessafold covers everything from design to delivery, so there's little as far as a special or secret step to get to a great product.
They take a small retainer as far as payment for the discovery. Then everything else is billed in sprint cycles when the client approves the product. It's not the opposite way. You don't pay and then get the work; you get the work and then pay once you approve. That has been the most significant shift that will secure Tessafold's success.
