I assist with the marketing portion of the Midwest Fish Co-Op, a startup. In the Midwest, we have a really big problem with invasive fish, particularly Asian carp. We’re trying to remove the invasive fish and then distribute them for different uses, whether that’s human consumption, fertilizer, or things like that.

What challenge were you trying to address with Studio Fox Design?

We hired them to create our website.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Studio Fox Design designed our website. This is a new project, so we have very little information; despite how little we gave them to work with, he made the site very interesting. He added a video and background to the homepage to add some effects. He did a lot with what we gave him.

What is the team composition?

We just worked with one person.

How did you come to work with Studio Fox Design?

Our CEO recommended that we use him. I believe he found them online, because he had not yet used them either.

How much have you invested with them?

We spent less than $5,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

The project took place in June 2020. They launched the site in just a few days.

Since this is new and we’re definitely going to grow, we’ll probably continue using them. As of right now, it’s a complete and working website. I imagine we’ll have to be in touch in the future to update a lot of things.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Given the very quick turnaround time, we thought we’d get a site that was good enough for the time being; however, the site is great, and we’ve decided to keep it exactly as is. We were very impressed because we threw the project at him with very little information. We just asked for a small, nice-looking website with about three pages. He made it happen, with minimal direction and just a bit of text from us.

How did Studio Fox Design perform from a project management standpoint?

He was very efficient and professional. He took direction and listened to us. Also, if we needed something changed right away, he was very good about getting on top of that and doing things pretty immediately.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I haven’t personally worked with a lot of other web developers, but I was really impressed by how quickly they were able to think on their feet. When we asked him to complete the project within a couple of days, and we didn’t give him anything to go off of, he not only delivered a working website but also made it so that we want to keep it pretty much exactly as it is. He was quick to think with very little to go off of.

He was also very responsive when we needed last-minute things put in there. He was helpful in that he respected our deadlines and knew that we needed to have it up for a particular date.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, not based on this.

Any advice for potential customers?

Tell him what you want and give him your direction, whether that is very minimal direction or an exact idea. He will take whatever you say and make it look professional. Communicating with him is the biggest thing.

I was looking to boost my online teaching, and I wanted to get an informational website that projected my skill set to attract corporate and academic clients.

I was assigned a project manager for the process. I was able to work with him from beginning to end.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

I am now able to promote my website to potential clients and have them find me more easily. I do feel the professionalism of the website helps set me aside from my competitors.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Very good. We were able to bounce ideas off one another, and the results were always great.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

They produce quality work with a fast turnaround. I am more than pleased with the finished product. I certainly could not have done something of this nature on my own even though I have built a website before. The other quotes I received were well beyond my budget, and now I know that my site could not have been better than the one Studio Fox Design built for me.

Are there any areas for improvement?

N/A. Great service. I will recommend them to friends as I know I'll definitely get a return on this modest investment.

I’m the VP of brand partnerships with Overdeliver Entertainment, which manages a digital platform for Sway Calloway, a TV and radio personality, called swaysuniverse.com. I oversee our digital experience on all of our platforms.

What challenge were you trying to address with Studio Fox Design?

We brought in Studio Fox Design to help us improve our UX and help with ad setup. Prior to the engagement, our site was not good. Previous attempts to work with third-party developers had not gone well. Our WordPress CMS was extremely outdated and needed a cleanup. We wanted to try to keep up with our competition, so we decided to build a new UX with Studio Fox Design.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Studio Fox Design performed a holistic redevelopment of the site. They cleaned up the backend and updated WordPress. They simplified the coding and advised on us on transitioning from a self-hosted server to a third-party hosting service to save some money. They helped us understand what works and what doesn’t. Their team also made suggestions about monetization for the platform.

We only worked with Fox (Founder, Studio Fox Design).

We spent a little under $3,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

The project started in July 2018 and it’s still ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Studio Fox Design’s efforts significantly increased pageviews and time users spent on the page. The intuitiveness of the site is much better. The average time spent on the site was less than a minute, but now that time has increased.

How did Studio Fox Design perform from a project management standpoint?

I think he did a great job. He outlined the parameters for the project and gave a realistic timeframe, which is something we’ve had trouble with before. Even with the additional aspects that were recommended, we stayed within the scope we had initially planned for. He put a timeline out there and stuck to it.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Studio Fox Design excelled in value and flexibility. Other companies would have cost significantly more. I paid another developer five times what I paid Studio Fox and got terrible results.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I think he could help me see what’s going on with newer technology. I’d like to be able to engage more with social media. I hope he can eventually be able to develop more consultative approaches for that.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

I would just say have your thoughts as organized as possible. Fox is very flexible and has a lot of experience. He has the ability to bring in a bunch of different options. However, if your focus is specific, you should give him those parameters because he can give you a wealth of information.

All stakeholders involved with the site release were very happy with the release, the time-frame, and ultimate results of the go-live. Our customers noticed, and also really like the changes as well.
