OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

For what projects/services did your company hire Slon Media?

We have been successfully cooperating with the Slon Media in creating an animated promo video describing our startup Kuvera - blockchain-powered secured data management platform.

What were your goals for this project?

We intended to use the video for promotion via digital channels and demonstrations at events.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor?

We received many good reviews about the Slon Media from our friendly companies. We were also positively impressed by their portfolio. They were what we needed.

Describe the video(s) and the process in detail.

1 min 30 sec long animated video, describing Kuvera’s product idea, mechanics, key features and benefits, and engaging users to start using it. We started the process with creating a draft plot for the video, the Slon Media timely prepared visual materials, they adapted texts, created storyboards, animation, recorded voicing and music, released final test video, agreed with us and after released the final promo.

What was your vendors' project management or feedback process?

We had agreed the schedule with the Slon Media and followed it without any surprises. There were several iterations before the final stage, so we could also make changes to the video, so it was very convenient to work with the Slon Media. We experienced organized workflow and sound project management with the Slon Media. Their time estimates were accurate too and we got the result in time. In general, all the services were rendered in effective, timely and reasonable pricing manner.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

The promo video helped us to get very positive feedback from customers. It clearly demonstrated the essence of our product.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

We enjoyed seamless communications and well-organized teamwork with the Slon Media team. Even though we set short deadline, the Slon team worked hard and they were always in touch with very professional and useful advising.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Well organized workflow and deep understanding of what is the essence of our product to be demonstrated in the promo.

Are there any areas for improvement?

We were very satisfied with their services. Hoping to have a good discount next time.

BACKGROUND

Please describe your company and your position there.

Hi, I am a Marketing Manager at the AgTech startup OneSoil. We're building a precision farming platform that allows everyone involved into modern agriculture to keep track of their fields state, analyze them, mark problem areas and thus take informed actions. We use satellite imagery and ML algorithms to make farming simple. The team consists of 29 members.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

For what projects/services did your company hire Slon Media?

We've hired Slon Media to make a promo video for launch on Product Hunt, an aggregator of new products released all over the world. OneSoil is a technically complex product that uses machine learning technologies and satellite imagery to predict field borders, calculate NDVIs for fields with a high accuracy to name the least. To illustrate the power of our tech stack and explain it to the whole world we decided to build an interactive OneSoil Map that provides information about every field in the USA and Europe. It contains information on 60 million fields and 27 crops in 44 countries. ll data is provided for three years. Using the map, one can explore national and regional trends, as well as check the development of a specific field.

What were your goals for this project?

So, to have a successful launch on Product Hunt, we had to create an astonishing video that will explain the awesomeness of the Map in less than 1 minute. Since video is the first visual part that people see while surfing the products published on Product Hunt, we wanted it to be the one that will simulate people to check the project and then support us by upvote. Then, we used the video to promote our Map in social media and to tell the story about our startup at exhibitions.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor?

Slon Media is a video production company that almost anyone from the Belarusian startup community knows about. Before starting a project with us, they had already created a few videos for other cool startups like WannaBy, Rocketbody that allowed startups to have great marketing results. I liked these videos and the way Slon Media communicates in the media so I decided to make a video with them. Moreover, we had offices on the same floor, which is very convenient.

Describe the video(s) and the process in detail.

The video has an epic beginning where we say that all the data about the fields is in one place. Then, we show the map on various platforms and start describing Map's USPs: the number of fields, their beauty, crops growing there, ratings and trends in crop production. The video finishes with the words about ML technologies we apply for building our product. The process started with discussing the idea of the video. The CEO of the company Vadim's suggested to make something similar to Apple promo video. We were impressed by the video clip and agreed to begin with this concept. Since we had tight deadlines, I started to make script for a video with my colleague (she's a very talented writer) while Slon Media commenced preparing the visual materials. There was just one little problem (though it was quite a big one) - the Map hadn't been ready before we began to work over the video. So, Slon had to make many animated things without a ready interactive map. We want to thank them for being so understanding! As a result, many parts of the video were built out of pieces which was very time-consuming for the production team. But they did it in time!

What was your vendors' project management or feedback process?

Slon has provided a project management Daria and a video poduction specialist we worked closely with.We worked together throughout the planning stages of the video. We've made quite a few of plot iterations before we agreed on the final one. In the end, the video has been reviewed by OneSoil cofounders and has undergone some changes. We're satisfied with a result.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The video helped us to bring the message to the Product Hunt users so that they upvote OneSoil Map. We've become a 5th product of the day and 4th product of the week. Still, it wasn't the ending. We have a happy one - OneSoil Map has become a product of the year and got a Golden Kitty Award as the best AI & Machine Learning Product of 2018. Right now the map has around 2.5K views and 26 upvotes.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Everything was fine. Since we had to finish the project on short notice, we had to work hard even at the weekends. Daria was always online and managed the team in a great way. I sent the comments to the video via a Google Doc where I mentioned the time and the changes to be made. As a result, all the enhancements've been done correctly.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Slon Media can take even the most difficult project, and make it great. The guys are professional and really helpful. They always find the best solution for a customer even if the resources (time, materials, budget) are limited. They're organized and have a creative approach to video making.

Are there any areas for improvement?

The video editors didn't always pay attention to the details. I think that this happened because of the rush. I'd also recommend them to use some program for better video commenting as it's not always convenient to make it via Google Docs or Messenger.

BACKGROUND

Please describe your company and your position there.

I am the marketing director in Daedalean AI - a Swiss start-up developing software for the autonomous flight for air taxi of the near future.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

For what projects/services did your company hire Slon Media?

My company needs to showcase its development and its technology - but the challenge is: it's not a user software, there is actually nothing to display - it's a code, with no user interface.

Flying cars are cool and everybody wants to watch videos with them - but we don't manufacture flying cars, we make software.

We need to explain what we develop and why it's so innovative and disruptive - but the explanations could be complicated. It's a really hard task to message the idea of what we are doing, and make it clear and understandable. So, we conceived a series of short videos explaining our work and our product.

What were your goals for this project?

We intended to use the videos in many ways: on our website, social media channels, press releases (to be embedded in the online media articles covering our developments), and also to display them on the wall screens at exhibitions

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor?

We found Slon through word of mouth - some of our friendly companies already worked with them and were more than satisfied

Describe the video(s) and the process in detail.

We shared our raw filming of the test flights and explained what we wanted to message - Slon created storyboards, texts, graphics to lay over the videos, helped us to select the music, recorded the voice, and compiled the final video stories.

What was your vendors' project management or feedback process?

Slon team was very comfortable to work with - they have an excellent project management skills.

Together we have quickly established a process comfortable for the remote collaboration - sharing storyboards online, discussing and modifying them online based on the comments from our side and their specialists' suggestions, then reviewing draft videos and correcting them.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We received thousands views on our YT channel, hundreds likes on our social media posts and a sharp raise of subscribers for each channel. We talked to many visitors on our exhibition stands who were attracted by the videos and were relevant to us as potential partners and customers. We got much positive feedback, and the online media related to our industry willing to embed the videos in their articles.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Every detail of the process was covered with well-organized communication (in English), involving spreadsheets and docs with tracking comments, quick clarifications of minor issues in messenger chats, and video calls for creative discussions. We visited their office only twice, during our business trips to Minsk.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

The most impressive is the combination of very fast production, absolute flexibility and conforming to the client's comments, reliable process and the price: the production cost is incredibly low.

Are there any areas for improvement?

I can only wish Slon to be more confident and bold in their suggestions. Sometimes it might help to prioritize quality over the cost - the lean approach is great but a customer can agree with extra charge when it's reasonable, don't be shy to suggest more options or insist on your vision when you know better!

BACKGROUND

Please describe your company and your position there.

Head Of Marketing at WANNABY. -

I have 6 years of experience in social media and mobile marketing. My key working areas within this role are: coordinating and supporting Social Media marketing strategies and product implementation for largest marketplace in Eastern Europe, creating mobile marketing growth plans, working with communicating insights, brainstorming ideas / initiatives and driving the mobile business.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

For what projects/services did your company hire Slon Media?

Create a special video for our startup WANNABY's app.

Dubbed “Wanna Kicks,” the iOS app uses augmented reality to let you “try on” various pairs of sneakers. You simply choose a pair of kicks from the list of 3D models, point your camera at your feet and — bingo — you’re now virtually wearing your chosen footwear.

The effect is pretty instant and tracks reasonably well as you move and rotate your feet or change camera angle. You can even try walking and the AR app will follow your footsteps.

What were your goals for this project?

My main goal and project: our startup WANNABY based in Belarus that is building “AR commerce” experiences, has launched a beta of its latest app, aiming to make it easier to find the perfect sneakers. We wanted to introduce our startup for all the worlds.
