I'm CEO of a white label turnkey solution for customer onboarding encompasses identity verification, risk assessment, digital signatures and payments.

We had zero technical knowledge, so it was hard to find the right vendor with a proven track record at the right quality/price. We asked SHORE teams to help us with this process.

SHORE teams introduced 4 partners. One of these, a partially dutch-polish partner was able to come up with a wonderful lead developer to build on. Their services were exactly what we needed.

After selection of the partner, SHORE teams advised us to do a kick off meeting with this partner. We were impressed with the passion of the team, the nice spots in the city (we visited them in Krakow) and the start of their intense and productive collaboration. As our COO Lisandro Aguilar (SignD) stated “We were made for each other”. After a period of time we decided to scale the team significantly. Lisandro: “we received super support from Leo and the team here”. With Leo, he meant the CEO of the partner company. “Even with the new team members, it was very smooth and extremely productive from the beginning.”

We were mostly in touch with the backoffice and CEO of SHORE teams. At partner's side we build an end-to-end team with frontend, backend, product owner, QA, etc.

The team was able to do a great job. “This is only something we can have managed through proper communication. If you have a good basis for communication, it’s just like if the people would sit next to you in another room.” We managed to raise US$ 1.2M funding; during COVID19 times and grow the team to 11 developers.

Since we were unexperienced in this field, we hired Lisandro to be our technical backbone. He was in touch with the team + we used Jira and Slack to communicate on a daily basis.

By means of thoroughly knowing your contacts, SHORE teams matched our needs and preferences with what is being offered by dev studios. In the background, they provide confidence through recommending reliable matches. Besides that they gave us a pool of recommendations.

For that reason we chose the partner they recommended to us and we could not have been happier. In the end, I believe that we have learned our lesson not to ever think of going for any dev before first checking with them :- )

Sustragil – a subsidiary of BASF (the global chemical market leader), founded in 2018 and headquartered in Münster, Germany – is a digital assistant in product safety. It takes over the manual entry of information from safety data sheets into your systems for you. The cloud-based software supports the use and exchange of product safety data along the supply chain. Through automated data collection and uncomplicated data transfer to other IT systems, Sustragil reduces your workload, helps you to achieve agile processes and increase your transparency. I'm co-founder of this subsidiary

For what projects/services did your company hire SHORE teams?

We had an urgent need for developers. Since the lead developer was burning out he decided to resign after some other developers left, their development team fell apart. Moreover, BASF gave a hard deadline to deliver an crucial mile stone by end 2021. Therefore, Sustragil hired 1 really strong lead developer to start with. Thereafter we needed 1 EHS specialist, 4 back end (JAVA 8, Spring, AWS, PostgreSQL, Docker, etc) and 2 front end developers (React.js, JavaScript, TypeScript, CSS, HTML) and 1 QA automation specialist.

SOLUTION

How did you select this agency and what were the deciding factors?

Although all 4 introduced partners were a great fit, the Ukrainian partner won the deal. They were able to provide a really strong lead developer within a matter of days which impressed the MT of Sustragil. After this first great step, Sustragil together with the partner grew the team with other experienced developers.

Originally the demand was for a Polish team. However since the Polish lead developer left, Sustragil was open to other Eastern European options as well. Time zone alignment and the quality aspect were most important (having tight delivery deadlines). So, we were looking for real senior/expert people and weren’t open for a team of mixed seniorities at that stage.

The goal and hard requirement was to have a new development team in place in 6-8 weeks. Otherwise BASF would pull the plug. Obviously this gave a lot of pressure to the management team and to SHORE teams to accomplish this.

It's was absolutely tremendous. We started with a truely strong tech lead. Really taking the lead over the project. After that, the rest of the team followed and performed above expectations.

Their service was really tremendous. When we told them our problems they said: "that's something I can handle and I'm gonna solve that for you." And although we had a very tight time window of 4 to 8 weeks, they held their promise. Now we have a successful dev team in place. They have delivered what they promised, and that's absolutely great!
