How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?
I selected them largely because of the "awards" they claim to have won, and on the sales pitch from the company's CEO.

They were tasked to improve the on-page and off-page SEO of one of my websites.
How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?
3 worked on this, as far as I know. The CEO did the pitch, and then disappeared after I paid and wouldn't respond to any email or call. The project lead had calls each week and tried to make it look like they were actually working, and that their strategies were working. And the developer, who barely changed a thing.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?
Since working with SEO Inc. continued its downward trajectory. While they changed us $4,000 per month, they didn't make the most basic changes, and they suggested changes that would work to hurt SEO. It is as if they are working for our competition. I've since hired a team out of India, and my core vitals score and overall ranking has improved incredibly. SEO Inc. didn't even advise to change the H1 tag, which had none of my keywords in it.
And, they suggested to actually take down my best performing page, because it had no conversions -- claiming that it could be hurting ranking for other pages, which is false, as I've since learned from many sources.

The CEO will be very communicative until you are signed into their contract and make the first deposit. He literally did not answer any email for 4 months. I sent only a few professional emails about his team's performance, and none were returned. He only responded when I attempted a charge back on the services. Due to the contract stating no refund will be given, and due to the fact that I unintelligently used a Visa Debit card instead of a credit card, I didn't get the refund. I spent $20,000 and all that resulted was damage to my SEO.

Their CEO's sales pitch. He is an incredible con man.
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
They need to learn how to do SEO and to communicate with clients. They get you on a contract that you can't get out of. Their only goal is to get that $4,000 per month for 4 months and then pretend they are doing work by having weekly meetings where they make false claims, while not doing any work between those meetings.
