SEO, PPC & Partnership Program for HR Outsourcing Firm
“They’re truly efficient in doing things for us even though we’re not a huge company.”
the reviewer
the review
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the president of a full-service payroll and HR outsourcing firm. We handle the payroll and benefits of small businesses nationwide.
What challenge were you trying to address with RSO Consulting?
RSO helps us with our marketing and brand awareness initiatives. They create new business opportunities for us through marketing campaigns.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Our engagement with RSO started with redesigning and revamping our website. Then, we tested some marketing initiatives, such as PPC and SEO.
So far, the team has also helped us with blog content creation and social media management. They create content and set up regular social posts, which are published on all of our social media channels. The blogs are written and posted on a monthly basis. Moreover, we have strategy calls once a week with RSO resources. We talk through our initiatives and review the content we’ve created. Our teams also make revisions to improve our social and blog content.
RSO has also helped us with one of our primary means of growth since late 2020. Specifically, we have a program where we develop partnerships nationwide. Our partners then refer business opportunities to us. The team creates the process and materials for our partners, including co-branded marketing materials and co-branded landing pages. RSO’s resources also create monthly emails with HR-related content, and we send them to our partners. The team manages these emails through MailChimp and HubSpot platforms.
What is the team composition?
We have three primary contacts from RSO. Sometimes, we talk to a fourth or fifth person depending on our needs, such as updating our website.
How did you come to work with RSO Consulting?
We had an extensive evaluation process until we narrowed our vendor choices down to about five marketing firms, including RSO. After a few months of phone calls and reviews, we decided to work with them because they were a bit more direct and honest with us compared to other firms.
To elaborate, the RSO team didn’t simply agree with everything that we said or asked during the evaluation process. They didn’t have issues with pushing back and taking a stand — they were the experts, and they promoted their suggestions. Our team appreciated that since we wanted a team that could truly guide us through the process.
Apart from that, Rob (Founder & Web Analytics Consultant) was involved in the process, too, and that made a difference. We had access to all the right people in the organization. They also assigned multiple people to work with us, and we had regular access to them. By contrast, other firms simply wanted to push us through one account manager, who would then relay things to the rest of the team, making for a slower process.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve spent around $4,500 per month since the beginning of the relationship. The total is about $80,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working with RSO in December 2020, and the engagement is ongoing.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
RSO has been a huge help in creating our partnership program, which we started with literally nothing but an idea. Now, we’ve taken this idea to 28 partnerships nationwide over the past year. Around 11 of those partnerships have referred business or opportunities to us. From those referral partners, we’ve gained eight new clients. That translates to $160,000 of recurring annual revenue for us. All of these are connected to the strategy that RSO has helped us establish and manage.
How did RSO Consulting perform from a project management standpoint?
I’m happy with RSO’s project management. Much of the engagement has been driven by us, but they’ve been great in terms of executing the ideas and strategies that we’ve wanted to put in place. They’ve also done well in terms of designing our website and creating materials for our partners.
Moreover, the team has done a good job of creating content for our email campaigns and social media channels. They’re more proactive in the social media aspect of the engagement since it falls inside their comfort zone.
To communicate, we use Slack and email on top of our weekly phone calls with their team. Their resources are super responsive. There’s no delay when we need to get things like landing page assets or materials — they work quickly.
What did you find most impressive about them?
We have great access to their team, and they’re highly responsive. RSO’s standard process is to have one call per month, while the rest of the communication is done through Slack or email. However, that won’t work for us; we want to talk to them more frequently because our strategy changes so often — they don’t have any issues with that.
Overall, they’re truly efficient in doing things for us even though we’re not a huge company. We only have about 20 employees internally. Put another way, we’re not a huge account, but we still get plenty of attention from them. This isn’t the case with other larger firms, where we won’t have the same level of access and open communication as we do with RSO.
Are there any areas they could improve?
It would be better if RSO could provide more proactive ideas and guidance. To elaborate, we’re a little outside of the norm in terms of their client base. Our sales approach and strategy have been different since we’re a unique marketplace. Given that, it’s challenging to deal with us, plus we’ve shifted directions before.
Moreover, there’s been a learning curve for them in terms of understanding our business. The same is true for us because we’ve shifted our strategy a couple of times since the beginning of the relationship. Now, we’re committed to what we’re doing, but there’s still a learning curve for them.
Overall, we’d like more feedback from them on how we can identify larger groups of audiences and potential partners. There hasn’t been much feedback from them in that regard. To be fair, that’s a tight spot to put them in because that’s not their everyday business.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Be specific about your expectations. The more details you can give them about your goals, the better they’ll execute your strategy. Inversely, the vaguer you are with information, the longer it will take them to deliver results. If you do that, there’s going to be plenty of revisions and testings — these things may not be what you’re looking for, and they can lead to frustration.
For context, we’ve experienced that problem early on, but it was our fault — we initially didn’t have any idea of what we wanted to accomplish. However, once we zeroed in and indicated we wanted to focus 100% on the partnership program, they picked it up and executed the strategy well.

Marketing & Advertising for Electrical Accessories
"RSO wants to see us grow and takes pride in their work, which very much correlates with our business."
the reviewer
the review
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the president of an electrical accessories company. We have four brands under our roof, including a laser products company.
What challenge were you trying to address with RSO Consulting?
We’d purchased our laser products brand two-and-a-half years ago and wanted to grow it and its customer base.
What was the scope of their involvement?
This was a ground-floor operation in that the existing website looked like it was from the 1990s and only saw a handful of transactions very month. It was practically on its deathbed. In speaking with Rob (Founder), we decided he would take over growing every aspect of the company, from the website design to SEO, PPC, and all other digital marketing avenues.
Since signing on, they’ve been testing strategies in every area of e-commerce to see what customer are looking for in terms of laser pointers.
What is the team composition?
I’ve been working with about 5–6 people. There are others in background, however.
How did you come to work with RSO Consulting?
I reached out to several marketing companies, and many of them weren’t interested in our brand’s smaller web presence. When I had an initial conversation with Rob at RSO, however, I laid out where we were and where we wanted to go and he was receptive to going on that adventure with us. He used the analogy of tending a garden, and I deeply connected with it. You have the plant the seed, tend the soil, water it, and then wait for it to grow. It’s a journey.
I also appreciated that RSO was local — being in San Francisco, they’re only a three-hour drive away from me in Reno, Nevada. I connected with Los Angeles and New York City companies, but they were only interested in brands over $1 million dollars.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve spent over $30,000 at this point with RSO Consulting.
What is the status of this engagement?
We’ve been working together since December 2019, though we had to stop service when COVID first hit for a few months. Business restarted with them in October–November 2020.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We had a single-digit conversion rate when we started with RSO and we’ve increased that by over 300%. Online monthly revenue has doubled or tripled from when we started as well. Visitors coming to the site and the amount per purchase has also grown tremendously. These metrics really tip the boat for us in continuing to work with RSO.
How did RSO Consulting perform from a project management standpoint?
I love this part of working with them. If I have a problem, I can send an email and get a response very quickly; if I need a phone call, Rob is open to that.
We have scheduled meetings on Zoom where we go over metrics each month and see how everything is tracking. RSO also discusses what they foresee as next steps and invites me to share my thoughts, as well as any areas of concern. They address everything; it’s a very through process. I know where we are at any moment.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They seem less interested in making a quick dollar than everyone else. Rob is up for a challenge and wants to cultivate our business. RSO wants to see us grow and takes pride in their work, which very much correlates with our business — being faithful that small things grows into larger things.
Are there any areas they could improve?
That’s a hard one because I see a lot of good things. I don’t know if I have any specific critiques, but there have been some issues Google, which are out of RSO’s control. They’ve even been able to address those, however.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Be upfront with where you are and where you want to go. Know what your vision is and lean into RSO’s expertise. They can offer things you might be missing and opportunities that could be out there. Don’t be afraid to take those steps with them. Sending money is scary, but you can’t make any if you don’t spend it first.

SEO & Site Quality for Computer Software Company
"They truly practice what they preach when it comes to experimentation."
the reviewer
the review
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m an education campaign manager at Adobe. We have offerings in the Creative Cloud, Document Cloud, and Experience Cloud. I sell to K-12 and higher education institutions.
What challenge were you trying to address with RSO Consulting?
I’m doing vertical marketing in a company that isn’t structured for vertical marketing. This means that we’re a small but mighty team in an organization that doesn’t offer general marketing services in North American education. There isn’t any internal SEO, SEM, or PPC support in our vertical, so we needed a partner who would work specifically with our education team to help us with all the campaign goals.
What was the scope of their involvement?
We’ve worked on many projects over our two years together, collaborating closely quarter by quarter. At the highest level, RSO Consulting helps in two areas – driving traffic to campaign sites and establishing site authority. These sites aren’t on adobe.com, so we don’t gain any site authority from our major brand.
We’ve refined our SEO and strategy progressively each quarter to improve traffic to our campaign sites – quality not quantity. The targets are superintendents, principals, and education technology directors.
What is the team composition?
Rob (Founder) manages the account and Candace (Digital Marketer) does the PPC and Sheila (Writer) does SEO. It’s a nice balance between having someone who can go deep on SEO and PPC and someone who balances the overall plan.
How did you come to work with RSO Consulting?
They were recommended by a member of another team here at Adobe who’d worked with them before.
We’ve kept them on because they’re small enough to be flexible but large enough to have a broad enough skill set to handle everything that comes under our umbrella.
Even if our internal team provide support for our campaign goals, we wouldn’t have the ability to pilot and test so many ideas like we do with RSO Consulting. They empower us to find the optimal copy and images so we know exactly where to put our budget.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve spent around $1,000,000 so far with them.
What is the status of this engagement?
We’ve been working together since December 2019.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We started with a brand-new site with an authority of zero and now we’re in the 30’s. There’s a long way to go, but we wouldn’t have been able to do any of this by ourselves. We know our message, but we wouldn’t have been able to implement it effectively with Google. The number could be higher if we were focused on quantity of traffic rather than quality, but that’s not our goal.
In terms of cost per impression (CPI) and click (CPC), we’re performing at a high level. CPI is 17 cents and CPC is 77 cents. Both numbers are well below the industry benchmarks.
How did RSO Consulting perform from a project management standpoint?
They’re perfect; we’ve never had an issue. Everything is done through Google — documents, analytics, etc.
What did you find most impressive about them?
When they have a goal, they are incredibly detailed-oriented and thorough. They test it and let the data lead them, constantly monitoring and tweaking all our campaigns. The collaboration between SEO and PPC leads to the fast turnaround and optimization of possible headlines, copy, and images. They truly practice what they preach when it comes to experimentation.
Are there any areas they could improve?
I didn’t communicate well with our own management the first year because of the detail in RSO’s work. it was hard to communicate their value because of how granular they go in their work. Now, I’m much more able to effectively communicate their work to my boss.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Let them run the tests they recommend, as it will help them hone the right strategy. Allow their expertise to define the testing and pilot phase.

Digital Marketing & Video Production for Robo-Advisor Firm
“RSO resources are experts in all areas of digital marketing.”
the reviewer
the review
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the founder and CEO of an investment robo-advisor that targets millennials.
What challenge were you trying to address with RSO Consulting?
We wanted to do a marketing test for our launch. As a result, we hired RSO to help us with our marketing campaign.
What was the scope of their involvement?
We already had a website, and RSO refocused it on our marketing efforts. They started off with a brand awareness campaign. We also tried other channels, such as influencer and content marketing. On top of that, they coordinated with a video production company in Ukraine. We also did ads, social media, and email marketing campaigns.
At present, we’re still working together albeit informally. We’re currently looking for venture capital, so we’re not actively marketing. When we raise more funding, we’ll continue using RSO. We also consult them on occasion.
What is the team composition?
We work with Rob (Founder & Web Analytics Consultant) and a large team beyond him. Other team members write PPC ads for us, while others do design work. A team of three or more people helps us with video production; they write and edit the scripts to ensure they hit all of our key differentiators. Simply put, each area of the marketing campaign has a specialist that they bring on from around the country.
How did you come to work with RSO Consulting?
I found RSO from Clutch.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve spent over $100,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working together in March 2020, and the engagement is ongoing. To elaborate, our campaign officially started in mid-June 2020; there was a three-month lead-up to that since we had to prepare for everything.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
RSO has provided data and statistics for our success metrics. We’ve acquired 5,000 new users within 2–3 months. The team has also given us a breakdown of all the data we have from different marketing channels — they’re truly data-oriented. As a result, we always know exactly where we stand. If certain campaigns or channels aren’t working, we can adapt and put more funding in a different channel that’s more successful.
How did RSO Consulting perform from a project management standpoint?
Their project management is great. We work together as a team; they’re basically part of our internal staff. To communicate, we use Slack, where we have a bunch of channels. Through these channels, their resources have coordinated with our previous consultants who did our brand guidelines.
We’ve also used Jira since they work closely with our Ukrainian developers. They’ve embedded code on our website and iOS and Android apps, helping us track data better. We also use emails, Zoom, and BlueJeans.
What did you find most impressive about them?
RSO resources are experts in all areas of digital marketing. Other companies have done ads for us, but I’ve been happier with RSO’s designs. Overall, they cover a whole spectrum of digital marketing services. That’s difficult to find, especially for a small business with a low budget. For instance, Rob has over 20 years of experience, and he brings in specialists in different areas. That’s important for us since we’re launching a product.
For comparison, our previous marketing company didn’t do everything we needed. They had a sister company that handled the other aspects of our project. They didn’t have a coordinated approach from a management level.
Are there any areas they could improve?
No, there aren’t any. They’ve done everything we’ve asked them to do — they did a great job.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Rob has plenty of experience, so trust that you’ll be in good hands. He’ll tell you your needs based on your budget, and his team is truly realistic in terms of what they can offer. Not all companies are like that; others limit you because they want to make the most money they can get. By contrast, RSO is more interested in your success than their own financial gains.

Online Marketing for Lice Treatment & Removal Company

the review
The client submitted this review online.
Please describe your company and your position there.
I am the owner and CEO of a small business that provides head lice removal services for individuals, families, schools and camps.
For what projects/services did your company hire RSO Consulting, and what were your goals?
We are in a niche market and many of our competitors were driving the fees for online advertising up very high so our goal was to save money in advertising while reaching more clients and improving our SEO rankings
How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?
We were highly recommended to this company after a friend attended a workshop. The workshop was for high profile and large companies. As a small business I wasn’t sure if our pieces would fit. After a couple phone conversations, we felt very comfortable moving forward.
Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and campaigns.
Our work began with the understanding of a small niche market that most know very little about. After going through all the basics of our field, we worked on targeting clients while saving money for google ads as well as improving our social media, SEO presence and exposure.
How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?
We mainly worked with the owner who assigned different tasks to a couple other people who helped. The owner managed our account and led all the projects.
Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?
We saw a lot of improvements on rankings and clicks. Unfortunately Covid basically annihilated our field and our business is starting from scratch.
Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.
They have been excellent with communication in regards to updates, status, goals, questions and ideas. Any time we have reached out, we get replies quickly- nights and weekends included. Our project, while small in comparison never seemed to take second place to their other projects.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
I find this company's genuine work ethic and professionalism to be very admirable. It’s not easy to find a company that genuinely cares and wants to help you as a small business that can not afford the fees of a large business. I appreciate all the efforts this company made for us initially in research and information as well as currently, knowing full well we are struggling financially due to Covid.
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
I would like to be able to afford more ideas and use this company to their fullest potential- but we try to do what we can with what we can afford. We are always open to more marketing ideas that will help our business thrive.

SEO Services for Peer to Peer RV Rental Platform
“Communication and follow-through were excellent, and attention to detail was even better.”
the reviewer
the review
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the head of marketing and partnerships of a peer-to-peer platform for motorhome and RV rentals operating in New Zealand. We provide a platform where owners can list their motorhomes to the public.
What challenge were you trying to address with RSO Consulting?
Our company needed to improve our performance on SERPs for our targeted keywords, as well as the overall domain authority of our site.
What was the scope of their involvement?
RSO Consulting essentially set up all of our SEO efforts from scratch. That includes reporting, strategy, and action plans, while the actual content was produced in-house. Rob (Owner) helped us by advising, guiding, and analyzing our strategy while continuing to drive it forward.
What was the team composition?
We collaborate directly with Rob for all of the work.
How did you come to work with RSO Consulting?
He was already consulting with the company when I came into the role, so I wasn’t involved in the initial hiring process, but I know that it had to do with our SEO and domain authority. Our parent company is based in the states and connected us with RSO to accomplish that task.
How much have you invested with them?
We spent between $2,000–$3,500 a month with him and have for most of our engagement.
What is the status of this engagement?
The project started in October of last year and is still ongoing.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Rob has been instrumental in helping us improve our SEO capacity from the ground up. There was a lot of work that went into the backend of the site from restructuring to content strategy, and his passion and enthusiasm were critical to getting us on the path to improving our rankings overall.
Everyone really enjoyed working with Rob, and beyond the overall SEO improvements we also gained a lot of knowledge and insight from him about the website as a whole. He really went above and beyond in everything he did.
How did RSO Consulting perform from a project management standpoint?
Consulting remotely from New Zealand to the United States can be pretty difficult, but the energy and attitude that RSO brought to the engagement more than made up for the challenge we were facing. Their determination to deliver results was incredible.
Since we were executing the recommendations that he gave us, the management of the project was relatively smooth, but his communication with us was a significant part of maintaining that. He told us what needed to be done, in what order, and continued to check the quality of the work and the results in order to deliver better recommendations. Communication and follow-through were excellent, and attention to detail was even better.
What did you find most impressive about them?
SEO is as much an art as it is a science, and his knowledge is easily up there with the best in the industry. What makes RSO really stand out is their undying passion to see their clients succeed.
Are there any areas they could improve?
I’m not sure if there’s anything he could have done to improve the results we saw on the project.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Listen to him and put the appropriate resources in place to make what he recommends happen. There can be times where he is able to drive your strategy forward and you may not be able to deliver fast enough, so if you want to get the most out of the work, be ready to keep up with the pace.

Digital Marketing for Nonprofit Independent School
“It’s clear from the attitude they bring to their work that they care and are interested in understanding our business.”
the reviewer
the review
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
We are a nonprofit school in San Francisco.
What challenge were you trying to address with RSO Consulting?
Our organization didn’t have any in-house people working on digital marketing, so we brought them on board to pretty much run that in collaboration with our marketing and communications department.
What was the scope of their involvement?
They helped us to strengthen our online presence so that it was easier for communities in the wider US and internationally to find out about us. We focused on organic search methods but have also used Google and Facebook ads. They’ve performed a wide variety of SEO support, PPC on multiple platforms, and A/B testing on our website.
What was the team composition?
We actually worked with several members of their team throughout the project, and they’ve all been great so far.
How did you come to work with RSO Consulting?
There was someone at the school who had worked with him in another business, and they recommended them to us. They have been very accommodating of our status as a nonprofit as well, which helped us to be able to work with them.
How much have you invested with them?
We have a relatively low monthly fee but have spent somewhere between $10,000–$25,000 in total over the years.
What is the status of this engagement?
The collaboration started in May 2017 and is still ongoing.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Applications for the school are definitely up over the time we’ve been working with them, which is exactly what we were hoping for. There has also been positive improvement in a lot of different numbers, from time on site to click-through-rates and everything.
How did RSO Consulting perform from a project management standpoint?
We have monthly meetings to update our goals and set new targets, and then we use email in between to ask questions, provide updates, and clarify anything that needs to be decided for an ongoing campaign. All of our communication with them has been very personal, organized and effective.
What did you find most impressive about them?
It’s clear from the attitude they bring to their work that they care and are interested in understanding our business. We’re not a business, we’re a school, so they have put a lot of effort into understanding what our families looking for and how to present a school in the best light. It’s been really nice to have that kind of curiosity and investment in what we’re trying to do.
Are there any areas they could improve?
This is obviously not relevant during social distancing, but it would be nice to implement quarterly meetings where we actually get together in person just to really make sure that everyone is on the same page.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
I would really recommend it, especially for nonprofits that might not budget for it even though the world is moving increasingly online. Even for people who might think it is not absolutely necessary, I think t’s actually very helpful and can be included as a line item in the budget.

Site Migration & SEO Services for Wine Retailer
“His work had a huge impact on our business.”

the review
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m a digital marketing manager at a wine retailer. I manage paid and organic search for the company.
What challenge were you trying to address with RSO Consulting?
I needed help with SEO and maintaining it during a site migration. I was going to be out of the office for a month and needed someone reliable to assist with our SEO during this large project.
What was the scope of their involvement?
RSO Consulting assisted in a huge migration from an HTTP to an HTTPS protocol. We had a roadmap and requirements for running the project smoothly. They monitored and managed our site to minimize downtime. He supported our IT and SEO processes while making sure everything was up and running.
What is the team composition?
I primarily worked with Robert (President), but there was another teammate on the project as well.
How did you come to work with RSO Consulting?
Robert was my teacher when I lived in San Francisco.
How much have you invested with them?
That particular project cost between $10,000–$25,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
The engagement started in July 2018 and it’s an ongoing partnership. He consults with me on best practices and makes sure I’m up to date on all industry trends.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
The outcome was amazing. We were expecting our traffic to decline after our site migration to a more secure protocol, but it immediately skyrocketed instead. We credit Robert’s efforts for that. His work had a huge impact on our business.
How did RSO Consulting perform from a project management standpoint?
We had weekly touch-bases with him to go over our roadmaps. Communication was seamless, even though the project was entirely remote. We didn’t have any problems.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Part of the reason I decided to pursue SEO was that Rob was such a great instructor. He’s an excellent teacher who explains complex processes in a simple way. He has the ability to make difficult topics seem unintimidating. He’s also solution-oriented; you can brainstorm with him, and he’ll work with you towards something both of you can agree on.
Are there any areas they could improve?
No, not really. Our relationship has been excellent, and it wouldn’t have lasted so long if I had any complaints at all.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Internally align your resources so that you can quickly implement his suggestions. Otherwise, you have to grant him access to your website so that he can implement them for you. That’s a general protocol for working with any SEO specialist.

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the director of advancement at Escuela Bilingüe Internacional. We’re a pre-K–8th independent school.
What challenge were you trying to address with RSO Consulting?
Our website wasn’t performing well in terms of attracting and converting potential customers.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Their team has done a lot of SEO work on our site. On social media, they run campaigns and track those results. For the advertising campaigns we run with different agencies, RSO Consulting creates landing pages and shows us the metrics so we can evaluate our ROI.
They also work with our website hosting platform to create new features and functionalities by testing changes and making recommendations. He also helped us manage the transition to our newly designed website. They monitor our site daily and fix any glitches or errors.
What is the team composition?
I work with their whole team, including a project manager that pulls together different resources.
How did you come to work with RSO Consulting?
We’d heard positive feedback from another school that had worked with RSO Consulting. Rob (Founder) brought his team on site, gave us an overview and some relevant ideas. It felt like he knew us already which was incredibly helpful and persuasive.
How much have you invested with them?
We spend around $1,750 per month, so we’re in the range of $20,000–$50,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We began working together in March 2018 and our engagement is ongoing.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
They’ve done a phenomenal job optimizing our pages. Their SEO efforts have yielded very positive results. Their work on our website has led to increased conversion rates. Even during COVID-19, we’re still seeing growth in the things that are most important to our business, like the area of admissions.
How did RSO Consulting perform from a project management standpoint?
They do a great job. They give us monthly reports and explain what’s working and what isn’t. They’ve got a solid, knowledgeable, multi-functional team that comes up with impressive insights. The information inside their reports shows they understand our needs and they come up with strategies to act on.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They’ve really been a behind-the-scenes partner that has evolved more than I originally thought. All of their recommendations and choices are strategic. There are lots of great minds working to help our business and come up with solutions. They’re very action-oriented. They’re very in touch with who we are as a school and where we want to go, always willing to roll up their sleeves and get the job done.
Are there any areas they could improve?
Just continuing to break down things into layman’s terms like they’re doing and giving the “so what” of a situation.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Be really clear about what you want and what your problem is. Allow them to customize a solution. Don’t be afraid to give them feedback and guidance, since they do a great job of tailoring to fit your needs. Trust them and be open as a partner.

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the VP of online growth and e-commerce for BlueJeans Network, and we are a video conferencing company. I oversee strategic planning and forecasting for the business, including sales, marketing, and operations.
What challenge were you trying to address with RSO Consulting?
When I joined the company, we didn’t have Google analytics or any kind of insight into our online presence and performance, so my goal was to develop those capabilities. I decided to bring RSO Consulting on to help establish the basics for all of those processes.
What was the scope of their involvement?
We started by sitting down and working through the business questions that immediately needed to be answered. Once we had a handle on what was needed to properly run a global e-commerce business with a SaaS model, we matched that up with elements of the customer journey and tools that would help us address those.
From there, they got to work setting up everything from Google Task Manager and UTM codes to full-stack tracking capabilities and a dashboard that would allow me to see everything from top of the funnel results all the way through to confirmation and purchases of products on our site.
Once we had everything in place and working properly within our tech environment, our company made a transition to another third-party e-commerce provider. Their team helped us work on a transition plan and build out that integration, as well as creating a new dashboard that would keep all of the information that I was receiving from those vendors was consistent with the numbers they were seeing on our internal website side as well.
What is the team composition?
I worked with a few members of their team, always including the owner himself and usually one or two of his key people.
How did you come to work with RSO Consulting?
I wasn’t involved with the decision-making process in selecting them, but one of my counterparts selected them based on a good experience with them at a previous company.
What is the status of this engagement?
The project started in September 2018, and we are continuing to work together.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
They have been my eyes and ears in terms of our online performance, which has been incredibly valuable to the success of our operations. In one particular case, they helped me quantify and pinpoint some specific pain points in our account creation process that I could tell were there but didn’t have the resources to find.
We have since been able to go in with our UX team and completely redesign that experience so that it is a lot less abrupt and helps users make that decision much more intuitively and easily. The data they helped me visualize was crucial to being able to go back to my design and product team and give them specific tasks to work towards improving that process.
How did RSO Consulting perform from a project management standpoint?
Their team has done a fantastic job of managing all of their work. They get what I need intuitively because of the level of experience that they have in this type of work. The whole team is incredibly responsive and helpful in getting us answers as quickly as possible.
Especially considering the current pandemic everyone is experiencing, the consistency of their service is wildly impressive. Since we are a video conferencing solution, we’ve had an over 10 times increase in order volume over the past few weeks, and they have been able to jump in and help me fill in gaps in our data that are critical to maintaining the operation of the business.
What did you find most impressive about them?
RSO Consulting has a truly unique blend of being able to get things done quickly and being able to navigate the tech environment that they operate in with ease, as well as coming up with creative insights and solutions whenever we get stuck on any given problem.
Are there any areas they could improve?
I can’t think of anything off the top of my head. They’ve risen to every challenge that I have thrown at them.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
It’s really important for any executive that’s working with them to be really clear about what questions they need answers to. The scattershot strategy of just collecting data on everything is not nearly effective as identifying what numbers are really driving your business and then letting them handle the “how” of analyzing and interpreting that information.
