BACKGROUND
Introduce your business and what you do there.
My organization is a nonprofit and we raise funds for verified nonprofits within India. We do a lot of due diligence and ensure that the money we are raising is being placed in the right place and that is on the utilization front. On the raising front, we do mostly retail fundraising, which is basically a B2C fundraising model.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
What challenge were you trying to address with Orvador?
We needed help with SEO optimization.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
There were a couple of things we wanted to do. One large task was to rank better with generic keywords, and the second task was specifically for our paid search marketing which is mostly on Google Ads. They ran our search campaigns and all of the paid campaigns for about four months.
What is the team composition?
There were two people assigned to the project. We worked with Ajit (Founder) and another person that interacted with us on our weekly calls.
How did you come to work with Orvador?
We had a very good referral. Ajit had worked for one of my friends when she was at a parallel B2C organization. He had the relevant expertise and we didn’t want a large scale agency where we didn’t know the team or person who would be working on this for us. We wanted someone who could be involved in all of our weekly calls, as well as someone who had a strong referral. The second and more important point was that the retainer was very reasonable. These were the two parameters that we looked at when deciding to go ahead with Orvador.
How much have you invested in them?
Over six months, we paid them an average retainer of about 65,000 Indian Rupees per month (approximately $887.00 USD per month).
What is the status of this engagement?
We worked with them from August 2019–January 2020.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
The SEO was very well done and our metrics on search went up. Our organic traffic jumped more than two times, and we started to get 3,000–3,500 visitors a day. This was all through relevant keywords like healthcare, education, and so on and they played a key role in that. For the paid ads, we used to get 150–200 conversions per month, and this went up to 400.
How did Orvador perform from a project management standpoint?
There was one person in charge of SEM specifically from their team who worked on the ad keywords. We had quarterly deliverables that were set up on a call, and the metrics were reviewed on a monthly basis. We looked at all of the broad metrics on a monthly basis where we had and had not seen progress.
On a weekly basis, they updated us and we also had a progress report on specific action points with regards to keywords, optimization, some keyword types that had to be changed, and we had a weekly board running where we had all the tasks up. It was more collaborative and we discussed approaches and strategies together, so
What did you find most impressive about them?
For me, it was the fact that the founder himself gets involved a lot. They were a lot more hands-on compared to a lot of the other agencies with a large team, as you won’t interact with the founders. It is really dependant on the person allocated to your account and how smart that person is. In our experience, there is a fair degree of chance where you may or may not get a good account manager, and hence the performance may not be great. That was something that stood out for me.
Are there any areas they could improve?
There is nothing strong or concrete that comes to my mind on where they could change things.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
The most important thing is to make sure that you have a weekly rhythm and to make sure that Ajit is involved in the weekly calls. Make sure that he gets involved in your project because he brings expertise and understanding. He has a lot of experience doing this and you really need to bring in all of that value onto the table.
