We partnered with the BioWave engineering team to create BioWaveGO, an iOS- and Android-compatible mobile app. The BioWaveGO app

allows patients to control their BioWaveGO device and track key session data such as the level of intensity, the date/time/duration of their session, and pre- and post-treatment pain levels.
 
In addition to the development of the BioWaveGO app, we created a streamlined content management system that allows BioWave system administrators to customize and edit content on the app, without requiring any coding knowledge. We also created a secure, HIPAA-compliant hosting environment in our Cloud to safely store all of our client’s sensitive data.

We were initially approached to enhance and recreate their employee dashboard that is used to facilitate their day-to-day operations. As our partnership evolved, we’ve become their central IT team, as well as an integral part of their software engineering teams. Wishing Pixies is an educational mobile game for iOS and Android designed to help parents reinforce positive, healthy behaviors in their child. Children play the game using a mobile app, while parents use a companion website to interact with their child as the Pixie.

Letts Play, Inc. sought out an entrepreneurial technology agency to fulfill their goal of bringing a product from conception to release--including

marketing and product design services. We worked side-by-side with our client through every step of the process. We developed the mobile apps and a gamification strategy to keep children engaged in the virtual world while motivating positive behavior. We created branding materials and a marketing plan to determine the brand position, tone, and target consumers. We designed the doll and the packaging materials, and created a responsive website for parents to manage the app, as well as an e-commerce website to sell the Wishing Pixies product line.

The WISHING PIXIES app is currently in app stores for iOS and Android. We are grateful for the opportunity to assist Letts Play in creating a product that helps parents nurture their children and promotes positive behavior.

The ad platform allows merchants to create exclusive deals and send them to users who are signed up, nearby, and can respond. For consumers, following a merchant or

a category of merchant on the MAd Reach℠ app means they know they will receive relevant offers to save money on their favorite purchases when in the area. Merchants don’t pay anything until a customer walks in the door and redeems their mobile promotion.

We developed the MAd Reach™ advertising platform for iOS and Android. Our services included strategic planning, identifying consumer and merchant insights, app development, database development, digital design and digital content development, cloud services, and creation of a secure hosting environment capable of handling massive data requirements. Working alongside our strategic partners, we currently manage the MAd Reach launch marketing plan, sales, operations, merchant services and are responsible for results measurement.

The Huck It™ mobile game was developed for ski lovers who want to experience the thrill-seeking adventure of mastering the best snow on earth. We helped Huck It™ create and launch the first ultra-realistic 3D mobile ski game featuring both Race and Freeride modes.

Our design, animation and development teams recreated the terrain of Utah’s top resort with meticulous detail. The 3D game is not all white knuckles and

puckered takeoffs—this snowy wonderland is a feast for the eyes. Players can ski through the snowy curves and towering trees, reminding them of why they live to shred.

Development of Huck It™ for iOS and Android included strategic planning, UI design, game flow, and developing the launch marketing strategy. We were involved in every step of the process, from concepting and designing the game mechanics, creating the social media plan, and enacting app store optimization (ASO) to gain downloads.

The launch marketing plan included social media and digital marketing, promotions and contests, experiential marketing events and strategic sponsorships. To date, Huck It™ has amassed over 80,000 downloads and is an influencer in the alpine ski community.

G3|Acoustics LLC. develops sound engineering solutions. Their team has a combined 40+ years of product development experience from the automotive industry, accruing numerous granted and pending patents. Their portfolio of future product applications include hospitality, transportation, buildings, and marine and recreational vehicle industries.

We work with G3|Acoustics LLC. on numerous projects, including the

development of a native mobile application for a nationwide restaurant chain that allows customers seated at a table to change the channel and adjust the volume of the Android OS-based entertainment device mounted to their table.

Mystic Media developers worked directly with the Raspberry Pi hardware manufacturer to determine the exact requirements of the hardware for this project. The application runs as an Android OS service, booting automatically upon device startup. It implements a kiosk mode with UI to prevent customers from exiting the app while providing a hidden method for the Admin to do so. It also monitors the external battery of each device and alerts management when a device requires attention.

Our work with G3|Acoustics LLC. contributed to an improved dining experience for patrons across the country. We look forward to continuing to innovate with G3|Acoustics LLC. in the sound engineering field.

Characterized is a mobile application that bolsters communication between counselors, parents and students about important issues in the lives of students.

The app was designed to help counselors better identify the resources students need to create an action plan. With Characterized, counselors can nurture students’ learning, encourage growth and find solutions for students’ challenges.

From the Characterized

app on their smartphone, tablet or desktop, a counselor can launch a student personality survey, learn more about a student, and monitor homework progress. The versatile platform helps students feel connected and supported, and it allows parents to monitor their children’s progress.

Our work with Characterized included the development of two native mobile applications: one for Android and one for iOS. For this project, we developed and integrated all creative materials, databases, and scripts (excluding the Characterized LLC logo). In addition, we built a responsive website for the app in HTML-5, AngularJS and CSS3. The front-end content for the website and app is managed through a double-password-protected administrative panel, which the system administrator uses to manage all users and content running on the app. The application operates under the legal guidelines of the FERPA (Family Education Rights and Privacy Act), and we continue to securely host all data for the app in the Mystic Cloud.

We are proud of our partnership with Characterized to develop an application that supports counselors and helps youth fulfill their potential.

Remedy Delivery Services is the largest medical cannabis delivery service in the state of California. They provide high-quality medical cannabis to their patients in a safe, discreet and timely manner. Unfortunately, many of Remedy’s patients are homebound and live in outlying communities. Traveling to fill their prescriptions can be cumbersome and painful.

We were brought onboard as a strategic partner with the goal of

streamlining the ordering process by designing a responsive website & app for iOS and Android. Since the user experience was our top concern, we instituted an Uber-style interface to allow patients to easily order and track the progress of their delivery.

Additionally, our partnership included strategic consulting, assistance with the creation of the ecommerce strategy, and ongoing hosting & cloud backup services.

In collaboration with our client, we effectively created a platform for patients to order their medication in a simple, transparent and efficient manner via Remedy’s mobile app and website.

The team was composed of two separate marketing companies consulting, Chris the CEO, Mystic’s programming team of over 25 people, three project managers, two interns, a social media manager and a full-time MAd Reach project manager. All in all, the team consisted of around 45 people.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

The MAd Reach Mobile Advertising Solution is a staple tool of the Salt Lake City food scene. We currently have just shy of 60,000 merchants and 10,000 customers on the app, all in the Salt Lake City area. We are currently forming our plan of attack to expand to more markets.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

Mystic Media uses a custom project management system that makes it easy to communicate with them and for messages to disseminate across their teams accordingly. There were several different teams whom we’d interface with, reflected on various “Tickets” on their project management system.

For Marketing, we worked with the CEO of Mystic Media, the CEO of their sister marketing company, and an outside marketing company. Together, we came up with a comprehensive marketing strategy. For the development of the application, we interchangeably worked with three separate project managers concurrently managing iOS, Android, and web development teams.

The three project managers from Mystic were extremely responsive and we were always able to get in touch with at least one of them who’d answer our questions and disseminate our requests accordingly. The result of the project management process was a cutting-edge app developed within the agreed upon timeline. Mystic was always very flexible and worked with us to develop enhancements and items requested beyond the initial scope of work.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Mystic Media was extremely professional and were able to manage to keep numerous concurrent projects on schedule because of the size of their team. They are respectful, creative and work well under pressure. We were impressed at every juncture of the process.

What was the scope of their involvement?

They created a cross-platform app, building out designs and functionalities. The end product was an iOS app that’s compatible with our web platform, which allows for increased accessibility. Their development work enables various types of users to access different capabilities of the app. For instance, counselors can create assignments and distribute student surveys in-app. They’re also able to monitor the progress of individual students on homework or goals. In addition to the counselors’ interface, there are student and parent permissions that offer different feature sets.

Their team continues to work with us whenever the app needs updates. We’re able to get in touch with them if we discover any bugs, as well.

What is the team composition?

I primarily worked with Chris (Principal, Mystic Media), but there were 6–7 resources assigned to the project in total.

How did you come to work with Mystic Media?

We wanted to keep our engagement local to Utah, so I did a Google search for providers in the area. I ended up meeting with several vendor options, but their team was particularly open in our initial discussions. Their pricing matched our budget, too. After taking that into consideration, we determined that they were the best fit for the project. 

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent approximately $30,000 at this point.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in August 2016, and our teams still collaborate in some capacity.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We’ve received positive feedback from those who’ve seen the final solution. As of now, I’m mostly employing the app for personal use and occasional conference presentations. It hasn’t been broadly publicized to the community yet.

However, I’ve been testing it for the past year at my own practice and have enjoyed the experience so far. Others have shown interest in its professional quality, wanting to eventually utilize it as well.

How did Mystic Media perform from a project management standpoint?

They call, email and text us to communicate. We also collaborate with them through their company’s platform, where we have additional strings of messages. Working primarily with a single point of contact was helpful. He was able to smoothly communicate between me and his team to accomplish tasks.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I’m not tech-savvy, but they made the engagement easy by building a personal relationship with us. They walked me through technological and business recommendations to bring my idea to life. It was very nice to have a partner that was experienced in this industry.   

Are there any areas they could improve?

I can’t think of anything. We’ve done quite well with them.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

It would be helpful to have a solid project plan in place before engaging them. We had to hold a few meetings and make revisions that wouldn’t have been necessary if they knew my field better earlier on. To avoid this, spell your project out, assuming that they aren’t coming from your field or background. From there, they can apply their skills and make it happen.

For what projects/services did your company hire Mystic Media Software?

We launched a new OTC version of our Rx pain therapy device. It has a bluetooth capability so it can be controlled via an app on a smartphone. We asked Mystic to design the app.

What were your goals for this project?

We wanted the app to allow the patient to control the intensity as well as pause the treatment of the device. We also wanted the app to display intensity, a countdown timer, battery status and collect treatment information. The app also needed to provide the capability to perform OTA (over the air) firmware updates onto the device and work with both iOS and Android platforms. The app also needed to display user information such as pad placements for treating different parts of the body, troubleshooting, contraindications, LED bar graph descriptions and other useful information about operating the device.

How did you select this vendor?

This vendor was recommended through our Engineering Development Partner and they came in with a better quote and seemed to be more capable than other choices that we had.

Describe the project in detail.

Once we selected this vendor, we had a series of meetings to discuss the goals and objectives described above. We went through several iterations of the app and finalized designs for each of the screens to which one could navigate in the app.

What was the team composition?

We worked directly with the principal of the company Chris Silvestro who managed all aspects of the app design, testing and implementation.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We received a lot of customer feedback on the initial version of the app. Younger customers really liked it, older customers found it confusing or difficult to get through. However, since we are selling a non-opioid pain management device, the majority of our customers are in the 40-70 year old age bracket.

The majority of these older customers in general were not used to using apps on their smart phones for other than the most basic of tasks - telephone and texts.

As a result, we had Mystic simplify the app to make it user friendly for all users. We removed the ability to identify the part of the body the patient was treating and pre and post treatment pain scores. We wanted the app to immediately start at the run screen so a person could immediately start the treatment without entering or selecting any treatment information before the treatment starts.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Chris was easy to work with and he provided frequent updates via email, text and phone both in the beginning, and as they worked later on to simplify the app.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Chris and his team were very knowledgable about user preferences content, design cues, as well as important information relative to submission to the Apple and Android stores. I would use Mystic Media again for future app development.

Are there any areas for improvement?

The development process could always be faster but they were good at keeping to project timelines. I also think they should be a little more proactive in updating our apps as new versions of Android or Apple iOS updates are launched.

I’m the creator and president of Letts Play. It’s a magical story and children's’ app with associated fairy doll toys.

What challenge were you trying to address with Mystic Media Software?

I have a school teacher background, so I don’t have technical experience. I did a little artwork and was looking for a way to create this product, though. I talked to several software companies prior to Mystic Media Software, looking for someone to develop the artwork and characters and create the app.

What was the scope of their involvement?

The app they built for the children is for iOS and Android, and they also did the branding and packaging for the doll and story. I had an idea and some artwork of one of the characters, as well as descriptions of the other characters, and I gave all that to them. Their graphic artists created the rest, and after a couple of rounds I chose what I wanted.

My app is unlike any other because the parent plays the role of magical character inside the app via the website. We had many discussions to help them understand what I wanted. One they understood, they told me it had to be a web to app conversation so only the child’s parents, and no one else, could communicate back and forth.

What is the team composition?

I’ve worked with six or seven people or the last three and a half years.

How did you come to work with Mystic Media Software?

I was searching for how to build an app and found them. I talked to a couple of other app developers but they didn’t make me feel confident. I found a search site where I could put in a generic description of the job and developers could get back to me. Mystic was down to earth, talked at my level, and explained what I needed to do. They also had a reasonable price. 

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve been working together since June 2016.

What is the status of this engagement?

Including, the app, marketing, and research, I’ve spent around $80,000.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

When I show up at toy shows festivals and fairs, people are shocked by the artwork and value of the app. They rave about the website too – how its laid out and all its graphics. Mystic’s hard work has really helped me be taken seriously.

How did Mystic Media Software perform from a project management standpoint?

Chris (Founder, Mystic Media Software) is organized and on top of everything. On their website, everything I’ve created has a separate ticket. If I need something based on a picture or a pose of a character, I go to that character’s ticket and request it. We do it this way because they’ve worked on so many pieces of my product.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They’re very trustworthy. I was worried about putting a lot of money out there and being taken advantage of, but I automatically felt like he was they were trustworthy. I sometimes got a bad feeling from other companies, but Mystic has proven themselves to be honest and helpful these last few years.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I’ve only gotten only benefits from them. Recently, I asked him how I could gather certain information from the website and, the next thing I know, I have directions on how to do it. If there’s something I don’t like or want, they give me instructions to fix it. I plan on having a long relationship with them.

Be clear. everything you want is in the portal. In the beginning, I called and texted them, but now things go into the portal and are taken care of.

We wanted to create an entirely new database.

What was the scope of their involvement?

After giving them our desired scope of work, they did a preliminary examination of our previous database. What followed was a gradual but extensive growth in scope, because we discovered that we were largely lagging on the technical front.

Using .NET, they constructed a database that tracks clients’ inventories. It also has a monitoring interface and can manage users’ payments, as well.

What is the team composition?

I only met with two programmers, but I also worked with a project manager and the owner, Chris (Principal & Founder, Mystic Media Software).

How did you come to work with Mystic Media Software?

After doing some Internet research, we shortlisted three companies. I picked them after speaking with them, although the initial project scope was much different than what the project turned out to be.

How much have you invested with them?

This far exceeded our initial estimates of $130,000 because of a change in scope, but we’ve spent around $750,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We began working together in April 2017, and the work is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

The entire project entailed a very large learning curve. Initially, we had several problems and ran into many roadblocks, but the database is up and running now.

How did Mystic Media Software perform from a project management standpoint?

We used different project management software. They had an internal ticket system, but they also utilized Bugzilla for bug tracking.

I really appreciated that Chris got involved in our project. If there was an issue, he was accessible and responsive.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I find that they offer a personal touch to their services. They were keen on resolving any issues that came up. I didn’t have reservations about reaching out to them.

Are there any areas they could improve?

This isn’t entirely on them, but I would’ve organized our communication in a different way. We could’ve better expressed our wants and needs. We’ve been working with them for a couple of years now, though, and have gotten better at navigating this relationship.
