I'm the marketing and communications manager for a nonprofit organization. We focus on providing sports opportunities for children and adults with intellectual disabilities in Ireland.

We have a very traditional marketing style. We aimed to connect with a younger and more attentive audience and extend our message to a broader reach.

Video content is very high on our agenda. We have fundraising events, challenges and are trying to run recruitment campaigns. We needed a supplier who could understand our organization's video needs and could provide comprehensive solutions.

What was the scope of their involvement? 

So far, Mango Media has produced eight videos for us. The team creates videos for communication, recruitment, and fundraising purposes. We aim to drive website traffic, increase signups, and boost donations. 

Mango Media captures videos at our events and additionally produces instructional content using existing material we provide them with and our requirements.

After our initial shoot with them, we were delighted to receive three videos. Impressed by their work, I hired them for a week-long filming project a few months later for a significant undertaking.

Robbie (Creative Director) usually works on editing and post-production. He's easy to work with and never hesitates to pick up the phone to run something by us. He always comes up with great ideas to take us to the next level. We also work with Sean (Managing Director). He's involved with pre-production, project management, and organizing the shoots. Their approach is honest - they never oversell and always deliver exactly what we need.

How did you come to work with Mango Media?

As a charity, we had to follow the public tender process due to the significant amount we would need to spend. Four companies presented their proposals, and Mango Media stood out as the best value, most flexible, and with the most to offer. We were impressed with the team and their well-structured approach. Our initial conversation with them went very well and left a positive impression on us.

We've spent $14,000–$15,000. It's a decent amount of money to date, and I hope we can spend more.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The work is very high quality, and their ideas help piece the videos together. For one video, we've had over 100,000 views and impressions on Twitter. That was very big for us to get us out to a cold audience. We're comfortable knowing how to talk to and attract a warm audience. Getting us in front of a cold audience and ensuring we pitch the right way is challenging, but that video is brilliant. It effectively conveys our mission and hits the nail on the head. 

How did Mango Media perform from a project management standpoint?

The Mango Media team efficiently maps out dates and delivers on time consistently. They inform us immediately if there are any delays. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

They have a brilliant approach to perfecting ideas without multiple edits. We worked with video providers before Mango Media, but they are the best value in terms of quality and service.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I suggest that they hire more people so that they can do more work for us. Mango Media is a smaller team, which is nice to work with, but sometimes we have to wait a week or two. Increasing the number of staff could enable us to accomplish more.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

The more organized you are, the more Mango Media can help you. The possibilities with them are endless. Think big, and they'll think even bigger. Their professionalism has completely transformed my perspective on video and what it can achieve.

The video accomplished what we hoped for, and we were very pleased with Mango Media’s work. We used this video on our website, social media, and YouTube channel.

How did Mango Media perform from a project management standpoint?

We had very smooth communication through email and phone calls; they were responsive, quick, and friendly. Talking to them and telling them what we did and didn’t like was easy.

Mango Media was very friendly and polite — they had high standards for customer service. They listened to our needs and made sure to change and adjust the things we asked for.

I’m the digital marketing manager of The Reg, one of the biggest bars, restaurants, and nightclubs in Ireland’s southeast region. We’ve been working for about 10 years, and we specialize in food, drink, cocktails, live music, and more. Additionally, we recently won an award as the best late bar in Ireland at the National Pub Awards in Dublin. In my role, I’m in charge of running our digital marketing and social media accounts, as well as looking after our website.

What challenge were you trying to address with Mango Media?

We spent a lot of money this year decorating our establishment for Christmas and transforming it into a winter wonderland. Therefore, we wanted to launch a video campaign to show the work we had done and portray The Reg in the best possible light, so we hired Mango Media to produce the videos for us.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Initially, we had a meeting with Mango Media to discuss what we were looking to get across with our videos, and they gave us some advice on what they thought would work best to accomplish our goals. For example, we had thought about including a lot of text throughout the videos, but they told us that doing so would result in a quite cluttered result.

In addition to that, Mango Media gave us suggestions regarding the length of the videos, advising us to keep them as short as possible to keep viewers’ attention. Their team also had a lot of other ideas, but we had to limit the project because we had budget constraints.

After the planning process, Mango Media produced several short videos for us to highlight our vast offering. For this portion of the project, they provided their own equipment, so we didn’t have to buy anything. Additionally, they took care of the entire production and postproduction.

Our longest video was one minute and 20 seconds, followed by two 30-second videos. Although these videos feature some actors, our main focus was portraying our premises. The Reg has 2–3 different bars, a restaurant, a nightclub, and a cocktail bar; the videos basically display those different places.

I worked directly with Sean (Managing Director), and I also met Robbie (Creative Director) on the first day of shooting.

How did you come to work with Mango Media?

I already knew Sean on a personal level, so I got in touch with him when the project arose. We had an initial in-person meeting in Dublin to discuss the project, during which he gave us some ideas of what Mango Media could do for us. Once we got a feel for their offering and had an idea of the cost, we went ahead with our engagement immediately.

How much have you invested in them?

We spent about €7,000 (approximately $7,400 USD).

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked with them from September–November 2022.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Currently, we’re rolling out the videos for our campaign. The first video went up last week on Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube, and it’s already performing 95% better than our other posts. That’s just the first video, and we have a couple more videos to come, so we hopefully will continue to be successful. Moreover, the feedback we’ve received from viewers has been very positive. We featured a well-known Santa Claus impersonator in the video, getting us a lot of attention and feedback. 

How did Mango Media perform from a project management standpoint?

Mango Media was very responsive and happy to make changes to the videos until we were 100% satisfied. Before the videos went public, I shared them around to get feedback, and people usually mentioned two areas of improvement. We shared those comments with Mango Media, and they were able to fix the videos before we launched them.

Additionally, Mango Media delivered on time. We had set a deadline for having the videos delivered 11 days after the shooting, and they were able to meet that deadline. As for budget management, they gave us a quote before we engaged in the shoot, and that quote didn’t change.

Mango Media used Notion for project management, which was very useful. Moreover, we communicated through email and Zoom. Once the shoot had taken place and the process was more iterative, we also used WhatsApp, which I found to be quite helpful as well.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Mango Media has invested a lot of money in their equipment, so the quality of their production work is extremely good — the videos were very cinematic. Additionally, Robbie had a great eye for video production, and he was excellent at his work, which was one of Mango Media’s strengths. Mango Media’s responsiveness was also an important asset. I never felt rushed throughout the process, which allowed me to take my time and ask for any changes I wanted.

Are there any areas they could improve?

On a subsequent follow-up call, I mentioned to Mango Media that it would be great if they assessed projects before engaging with the client.  It would have been beneficial for both parties if they had visited The Reg to get a feel of what the project would entail before starting our engagement.

During this call, I suggested charging future clients an initial rate to assess the project, which they can then deduct from the final price if the client agrees to move forward with the project. On the one hand, it would prevent time-wasters from asking for quotes. On the other hand, it would allow Mango Media to provide an even better service because they would have a better understanding of projects from the start.

Be really clear on what you want to achieve and have a clear vision of the finished product before you engage with them.

We needed help with video production for our company.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Mango Media provided video production services for a customer testimonial material we wanted. They started by giving us a rough idea of a script based on the angle we wanted to take on the video. Consequently, they filmed the video, which was around two minutes long, with a series of smaller snippets of about 20 seconds. In addition to that, they provided their own equipment and studio and handled the video editing and audio mixing.

The video is not live yet, but we plan to publish it across our website, LinkedIn, and email. Nonetheless, our employees were pleased with the product, which enabled us to communicate our services in a two-minute video rather than a 30-minute demo. Overall, Mango Media’s team visualized a solution to our issues fantastically.

How did Mango Media perform from a project management standpoint?

They met deadlines and stayed within budget to ensure a perfect project management process. Regarding tools, they used Vimeo and Google Drive to show us the cuts. For communication, we used Microsoft Teams, email, and WhatsApp.

Their quality of production was outstanding compared to other providers; they were on another level and within a good price range.

I can't quantify or put a monetary value on the deliverables I got from Mango Media. However, we couldn't have run the showcase as well without the video. The feel-good factor and quality of their work were amazing. Those who saw the video commented favorably on it. 

How did Mango Media perform from a project management standpoint?

Mango Media had excellent project management; we only had to have 1–2 meetings with them. We made one change to the deliverable, which was executed in minutes. I've never worked with a more professional company. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

Mango Media listened to us and understood everything we wanted in our initial meeting. They came back in the second meeting and delivered the project overview, which was exactly what we requested. Their attention to detail and ability to understand our needs immediately, removing the need for any back-and-forth, were terrific.

What challenge were you trying to address with Mango Media?

We wanted to produce a series of videos to promote our company and products.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We hired Mango Media to help us produce a series of videos for our marketing initiatives. We’ve done around 6–7 videos so far, so we now have a much more streamlined way of working together.

Whenever we do a video together, I would usually book a particular day to shoot the video, and then I would send them the storyboard and the script in advance. They would usually send back their comments or any changes that they think we need to make before shooting footage for the video.

Mango Media is also in charge of all of the editing, and they also deal with any animations or graphics on the video. As they go through the post-production process, they would usually come back to me with suggestions on how to further improve the final video or a couple of extra ideas that they think we should add.

We usually post the videos on our LinkedIn channel, but we also sometimes include them in our email newsletters or post snippets of them on our Twitter and Facebook channels.

Mango Media was recommended to me by an acquaintance who had used them previously. I was looking for some good and innovative video production companies based in Dublin that I could work with on an ongoing basis, and Mango Media was one of the three companies that that individual recommended to me.

Make sure to be really clear on your brief with them from the start. It’s a good idea to spend some extra time on your first video — make sure to explain your brief and to execute it very well because if you can get it right on the first one, the rest of the work you do with them down the line just flows from that.

What challenge were you trying to address with Mango Media?

We started the gym six months ago, and it was quiet for four months. At this point, I decided to make a video and get some professional pictures taken to get the business's name out there and target some potential customers.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Mango Media provides us with video production and photography services. They made a video that we could send to sports-related audiences and teams for lead generation. First, they visited the gym to get its feel before shooting and had a gym session. 

From there, they filmed a video of people using our facilities. Six of our members came in, and the Mango Media team filmed them using equipment like bikes, treadmills, and weights for ten minutes each. They got footage of the boxing space, hot tubs, and sauna, and they also took photographs during the shoot. The team included the benefits of equipment like the hot tub and sauna in the video. 

We’ve extended our engagement; Mango Media will make another two videos and take photographs for classes in the infrared sauna and boxing training.

The feedback for Mango Media’s work has been unbelievable. Both the video and pictures are very professional, and they’ve worked in favor of our business. Since the video came out, we’ve gotten more customers at our gym. Sending the material to sports-related groups has effectively gotten people to visit us. We’ve also published the video on Instagram, and our followers have grown from 1,500 to around 3,000.

The Mango Media team is very professional. We typically communicate via phone calls or through Instagram. Whenever we contact them, we get an answer within a couple of minutes. Ever since I met them on the street, they’ve been very approachable. Working with them has been easy both times they’ve come to the gym — first to visit, then film. Additionally, the day of filming flowed very well. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

I appreciate that Mango Media visited us a week before filming, walked through the gym, and used the equipment to get a feel for what we were all about and what we wanted. That was very professional of them.

I don’t think there’s anything they need to improve; they’re good all around.

Mango Media is very professional, so you should ensure you have everything ready for them when you call them. On the day of filming, I had the gym cleaned and got models for them to take pictures of. Be prepared because they’re very prepared.

We ran a program with students and needed someone to produce a video.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Mango Media came for the final two days of the program and recorded content to create a promotional two-minute video. Initially, we had a call to draft it together and set our expectations of what we wanted it to look like based on a similar video we’d developed before. Then, we came up with a plan.

The video was filmed entirely with the video content of the program. I originally wanted them just for one day, but then we had a robot dog signed up, so they came in and shot content of the robot dog. They handled everything, including production, video editing, and audio mixing.

We worked together from March–May 2022; they’re closing the video. We have some final edits, but it’ll be complete after the final polish.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The video hasn’t been launched yet, but we’ve had internal feedback from the team. We’ve shared it internally on three presentations so far. We’ve used it to report to funders and demonstrate our work, and everyone has been delighted with the video. When we finally publish it, we’ll post it on YouTube and our website.

How did Mango Media perform from a project management standpoint?

They were really helpful. It was quite a collaborative engagement. They were receptive to our comments, so we developed the plan and vision together, and they delivered on their side. In general, they were good at handling the project and open to working with us. Additionally, they provided a competitive price point.

We had an initial call over Zoom. Then, we met in person for the filming and kept in contact over email. For quick insights, we used WhatsApp Business. It was helpful because it saved us time, especially when doing video production. We could have immediate feedback, so it was a good mix.

They were very friendly and easy to deal with. Mango Media was approachable and open to working together. We felt very supported.

To be honest, I can’t think of something right now. We were pretty happy with them.

I’m the program manager for Smart Dún Laoghaire, a research program between academics and the local government. We work with industry and citizens to add a tech layer to services so that cities and urban areas work more efficiently.

We hired them to make a promotional video to launch a new program.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We collaborated with Mango Media to make a plan and a script. I made initial script drafts, and they explained what would and wouldn’t work on film. We had a lot of chats about scriptwriting that led to chopping and changing the script. From there, we made a plan for a couple of shooting days, including the location, types of cameras, and drones they’d use. The team filmed the video and then added some animations that I requested.

How did you come to work with Mango Media?

I did a fair bit of Googling, and then I asked around and got a reference for Mango Media. I talked to a few different video companies, and I found Mango Media to be the most friendly and easygoing in explaining exactly what they were doing. They were open to trying a few new things. I also found that they listened to what I wanted more, whereas some of the other companies were trying to tell me what I should or shouldn’t be doing.

The video made our launch event work very well, and it’s gotten a lot of positive feedback on social media. We’ve also posted the video on three of our websites. Mango Media was really good at explaining how filmmaking works, and they also came to our launch event.

How did Mango Media perform from a project management standpoint?

They were very easy to work with. The team gave us regular email updates, and they set up a WhatsApp group that I found useful for quick messaging. We also used Google Meet and Zoom, and they used Vimeo for collaboration. 

In terms of deadlines, I was on a really tight schedule, and Mango Media was accommodating. One of their filming days was a Saturday, and they had no problem working on a weekend to meet my short deadlines. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

I was impressed by Mango Media’s willingness to try new things, and I liked their enthusiasm. Even though the team was starting out, they were mature past their years and very professional. They also explained things well; I didn’t know much about filmmaking, and they made it easy for me to shape my message in a medium I wasn’t used to. Their education and clarity of communication were probably their best quality. Plus, their skills in terms of video delivery and design were excellent. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

Nothing they needed to change comes to mind. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Go in with an open mind. Mango Media gave me a few suggestions that I wouldn’t have thought of. If you bring your own ideas and deliver everything you can think of, the team can help shape your message. They know how to bring those jigsaw pieces together to make them into something real and cool that will work for your audience. I gave Mango Media all my ideas, and they were able to build a video around that.

I’m an advanced paramedic for an ambulance service.

What challenge were you trying to address with Mango Media?

I had an idea to develop a recruitment video to get new volunteers to provide medical services in their communities. We needed someone to make the video.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Mango Media is producing our recruitment video, which will be two-and-a-half minutes long. I created the storyboard with oversight from them. The team provided us with a step-by-step shot list of each sequence. All the people who appeared in the video were volunteers, and Mango Media assisted us in ensuring they were in the correct age demographic. 

They walked us through every step of the shoot in advance multiple times and reviewed our input to make sure there were no surprises. The team filmed the ambulance service receiving a call, dispatch, and the volunteers attending the scene, treating patients, and interacting with ambulance staff. The purpose was to show the benefit of the services volunteers provide. 

We also asked Mango Media for still images to use in posters for marketing campaigns and recruitment drives. The team took these photographs, which will also serve as stock images. Currently, they’re in the final stages of editing the video.

We’ve worked with two teammates and an intern from Mango Media, who were all present on the day of filming. 

How did you come to work with Mango Media?

I was given the name of media companies our organization had used in the past. Then, I searched Mango Media on Google and was impressed with their portfolio’s standards compared to the competition. 

When I called them, we immediately had a close, interactive exchange. They sounded motivated and like they wanted to get the job done. From that first phone call, I knew I would use Mango Media because they created a sense of excitement and buzz around the project.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

I played the footage during filming. Based on what I’ve seen and what my managers have seen, Mango Media’s work quality has outdone our expectations, to the point where we’re rethinking how to launch the video. We need a launching platform or an event to premier the material because it’s such high quality. Mango Media will be top of the list when our organization needs more work done.

Their project management has exceeded our expectations. They use Gantt charts for scheduling, and we communicate via WhatsApp, text messages, phone calls, and video calls.
