Thousands of children were asked to draw their dreams on paper and a selection were chosen to have their imaginings animated in 3D and launched into space during a huge projected light show. The climax of the 2019 Kyiv Lights Festival 2019, the children's characters and vehicles were simultaneously animated in

Augmented Reality around this projection on thousands of spectators' phones. At the same time, these characters were encoded into a radio signal and blasted into space from Ukraine's largest radio telescope! Now their childhood dreams will travel through the universe for eternity.

What were your goals for this project?

To attract the attention of a huge number of people with the help of augmented reality and video mapping in order to support the idea that children's dreams can come true

We wanted for us to create the world's first AR application, which was launched with 3D mapping. The task was to translate children's drawings into 3D models, animate them, and then create an animation to send children's dreams to space.

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

We attracted even more attention to the social project. In the process of research, there was a negative trend - the ability of children to dream is dying away. But big dreams are big goals and big achievements. And with the help of AR, we were able to attract more than 500,000 people to this project

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

Project management was carried out in a timely manner, recommendations and corrections were made as we progressed. There was no such project in the world before, and therefore tasks and solutions often changed. The main thing is to invest in terms with high quality.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

They were able to show us the potential behind the use of AR and proactively approached each stage of preparation. They made recommendations and listened to our wishes.

Introduce your business and what you do there.

We are a telecom company based in South Korea. I'm an AR production manager. We create AR content for our customers.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Live Animations?

I was in charge of creating AR storybooks. They produced two of those books for us.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

The first book was Cinderella, and the second was The Three Little Pigs. They worked with us on the script, then they moved into design, modeling, and animation. I made some minor changes, but most of the work was on their side. After that, they helped us complete the final package of AR data.

What is the team composition?

My main contact was their production manager, but I also worked directly with their CEO. I'm not sure how big the rest of their team is.

How did you come to work with Live Animations?

I found them through an online search for AR studios.

How much have you invested with them?

We spent about $70,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

The process took about two and a half months. We started in August 2019, and the project ended in November 2019.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We haven't released the finished product yet, so we don't have any metrics to share at this time. They knew what they were doing, and they always worked as a team. They provided all the data I asked for, and they accommodated some extra requests that weren't part of the original contract. They were a very good partner.

How did Live Animations perform from a project management standpoint?

They had a good attitude, and their communication was good. They were always on time, and they understood my notes. They always addressed my requests right away.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They anticipated everything, and they often came back to me with better ideas. They provided things that I didn't ask for, and they produced a much better-quality product than we anticipated. I was pleasantly surprised by their willingness to go beyond the scope.

Are there any areas they could improve?

We faced some issues with scheduling, though they always returned with good products. Their timing wasn't that bad, but it's the only thing I can think of that could improve.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

I would highly recommend them, but I don't have any specific advice for future customers.

Oriflame - a beauty company selling direct. We serve thousands of consultants across the world. I work as Digital Specialist for Central Europe. I work with online tools, mobile and social applications.

For what projects/services did your company hire Live Animations?

We've been launching new mascara - The One Tremendous. For this launch we aimed to have our first Instagram filter, showing tremendous eyelashes, but also to present it more as fashion filter with changing background and music.

We have not had any experience with Instagram filters prior it. Live Animation has been very knowledgeable and delivered excellent work.

What were your goals for this project?

We need to have AR filter for Instagram. Goal: give our consultants and external users possibility to feel fashionable and Tremendous in a fun and playful way. Promote new mascara in a fashionable way.

How did you select this vendor?

We were looking for the best animation companies. We reviewed the companies from: UK, Brazil, Amsterdam and Poland. We choose the vendor based on: portfolio, communication, knowledge, experience and cost. In process were involved: myself, Digital Special, Digital Manager, Brand and Digital Director.

The filter should be active in Central & Southern Europe (20 markets) The filter should be active on Instagram.

How can we make it more than about big lashes? And more about lifestyle and fashion like? Make women look tremendous, confident and at the same time fun, willing to share their look with the others.

What was the team composition?

We were in contact with Head of International Sales, two Project Managers and Designer from our side. Head of International Sales was very fast in resolving all legal questions.

Two Project Managers were very responsive and to the point. Of course there was a developer who did great job.The project was delivered on time and high quality

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

We received a great feedback from internal and external vendors. Within 1st week of the launch we had: 250,341 Impressions, 1486 captures. Filter attracted younger audience, which was in line with our goal.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

The collaboration was very smooth with project being delivered on time. We communicated via emails without any barrier.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

I was most impressed by how precise and to the point all the involved parties were. High quality of project and communication.

Are there any areas for improvement?

This was our first project with vendor, and definitely we are interested in further cooperation.

One of our goals was to popularize the new capabilities of a printed magazine for children ages 2 to 12. We also wanted to increase interest and engagement with the printed edition by using new gaming features like collectible AR designs.

We met them at an exhibition in 2014.

At the beginning of each year, we determined the topics for the coming year and selected designs from Live Animation’s catalog. They provided sketches of the new AR designs every month for us to approve, then published them according to the primary topic of that particular issue, the printed edition of which we had already supplied them.

The team consisted of members from the Kiev office and the PR director.

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

We invited elementary school students for office tours, during which we actively used AR designs to promote our printed editions. In addition, Live Animation’s PR director served as the curator for “Modern IT Technology,” one of our development programs that introduced children to the art of creating “come to life” images. Both of these efforts increased interest in our magazines and improved sales.

The project management was highly organized.

This is a reliable company that embraces an artistic approach.

They could integrate more specific app localization for the Ukrainian market.

What were your goals for this project?

We aim to excel in everything and introduce new technologies to our readers. The launch of the AR rubric aimed to attract youth that is interested in tech. Segodnya became the first newspaper in Ukraine that took advantage of AR in printed media.

Live Animations provided us with AR layouts for our rubric. We complimented them with explanatory text for our youngest readers. Live Animations provided us with layouts and catalogs, from which we chose those that matched best. Selected materials were sent over by Live Animations to our designers for further page-proofs. The provided service was flawless. Live Animations’ specialists carefully followed our work and were able to provide help and consult on every stage.

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

This project helped us to grow the audience among kids and youth that love tech and proved once again that we are the leader of Ukraine’s press market. The rubric has become popular not only among kids, but also among their parents.

The fact that we started using AR in printed media caused a great interest in the professional field. I’ve talked about our company’s experience in several interviews for marketing and media resources. Also, one of Ukraine’s most popular TV channels “Ukraina," aired a program about our AR introduction in a newspaper, which helped facilitate public interest in our media and position it as progressive and modern, not something that is about to become history.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

Everything was top notch.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

The speed of reaction to our inquiries and requests and the quality of the provided AR layouts.

Live Animations designed and developed a custom AR solution. They created photo-content on Facebook and Instagram for several of our clients who were attending the International Business Forum in Bodrum (Turkey).

The activation resulted in a huge amount of viral content, which was exciting for our clients. Thanks to Live Animations, we were able to create a happy atmosphere at the event.

We communicated with our project manager through Skype and email. Our project manager was available around the clock. They promptly responded to all changes and sought to implement them quickly, which was fantastic.

I’m an advertising manager for Ural Dumplings Factory, a Russian producer of different kinds of dumplings. We have several websites, and one of them was created specifically for our new project.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Live Animations?

We needed help with a new marketing strategy to promote our products.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

They’ve helped us develop our whole strategy around augmented reality, creating an iOS and Android application and helping us check it. The Android version is finished, and the iOS one is in process. They gave us professional technical assessments and some creative ideas on how we could develop our project. It uses a combination of 5G technology and viral marketing.

What is the team composition?

We communicated via Skype with 2–3 people, but the work was done very quickly, so we think that at least 20 people were involved.

How did you come to work with Live Animations?

It was difficult to find a good company that could help us implement our project. We found Live Animations by chance online and realized that they were high-level specialists, and a leading augmented reality developer.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with them at the end of 2018 and the collaboration is ongoing. The development of the app took place in March 2019, in a matter of weeks.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We appreciated their work very much. They delivered what we wanted, and they helped us with some questions—we’re sure that they’re one of the best companies in the world. They’re real professionals in the market, and we would recommend them to other companies that want to develop augmented reality products.

We haven’t started using the applications yet as the project is still in development. We hope that, in the near future, the augmented reality applications will improve our profit and help us become the first Russian company with a marketing strategy that involves augmented reality.

How did Live Animations perform from a project management standpoint?

They were the only company that agreed to help implement the project in its entirety, in the time set by our main directors. They did everything according to our schedule, met all the deadlines, and didn’t cause any problems in terms of time management. Their staff is smart and creative, and we wish them success.

What did you find most impressive about them?

It’s their creativity. They offered us several ideas for free, and we could choose any of them to develop. Everything was done according to our deadlines too, which I appreciated a lot.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I don’t think so. We’ve always worked collaboratively, and they were ready to help us if we had a question.

Sometimes there are connectivity issues. For the app to work, users must have a phone with a stable internet connection and memory. Their team could develop an app that doesn’t consume a lot of memory, or make it easier to use offline.

Live Animations developed two apps based on Lewis Carrol’s books Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass. These apps offered a completely new experience to consumers. Thanks to AR technology, the books’ pages came to life, transforming 2D illustrations turned into cartoons with music. Readers weren’t only enjoying a mini-TV show but were also playing an interactive game, taking photos and videos, and sharing them via social media.
