● Configurable onboarding paths with text, video, tasks, code snippets, mandatory steps, deadlines, and helper contacts

They also implemented Azure cloud hosting, API documentation via Swagger, database backups, and a fully responsive frontend.

The idea is that Lebanon pays expensive monthly fees to get internet, but the internet is very slow (2-5 mb/s). This means that often basic functions like sending pictures and videos to friends take forever, or fail midway. You can't listen to music live. You have to let it buffer for 5 minutes and then play it. 
It's very uncomfortable, and the people know it's bad because their mobile phones have fast internet from their carrier which costs even more than regular internet but is limited (you pay for a fixed number of megabytes; when it's over, you need to buy again)
We started with a meeting where I explained my idea and why the solution makes sense for Lebanon. I'd need a dozen applications that can work offline for various everyday activities like chat, calls, news, storage, music, etc.
The Lexis founders on the call explained that we can use products others have created and are free to use, saving time. I liked the idea, and we had more meetings in which they outlined the process. 
They prepared diagrams descriptions, and demo accounts for those free-to-use products, which made me choose them.
Lexis first delivered a cloud solution called NextCloud that could easily store personal files for many users. It was deployed on hardware they set up—with many hard disks and backups (RAID). They said we could create virtual environments for each service so that one machine could run everything. Next was Plex, Koel, RocketChat, etc.
Actually, they developed the website first. 
We created a Google form with one of the founders that collected information about the internet habits, usages, plans, and costs of over 240 people. This form led the people to the website, where we analyzed their behavior to understand where our focus should be.
Lastly, when we tested that the services worked, we needed an administration to manage user access and payments. Payments predominantly happen in cash in Lebanon, and it is very important to have a good way to manage subscriptions.
Now, I partner with local internet providers to make one big local network operational when the real internet is down. Because people don't use their routers with the limited real internet bandwidth, the speed of Mafinet feels truly superb.
I will try to summarize the above:

• create a website that tracks user engagement, clicks, etc.
• create an all-in-one portal that let's our customers use services even without internet (if they are in the same local network). these services include cloud storage, communication channels, movies, music, new, etc.
• create an administration to manage users, subscriptions, statistics and reports

There is distress in the region so it's hard to perform fantastically, but if we wait it out then it will grow fast. Basically everybody wants to use the project, but right now it's only available in a small region. After all the project depends on a local network. But we do have happy clients that support the project and allow me to hire an employee and pay for maintainance.

The general timeline was upheld as agreed. The initial schedule was changed because we added and changed some things on the go and the delivery was delayed because of it. But that's fine because we talked about it often enough and the expectations were synced. 
I think we had enough discussions in the start that we alligned our vision and from there on the communication was clear. That aside, we had meetings every two weeks in which we talked about where the focus lies and tried out the work done

I don't have much experience for comparison, but what left the greatest impressions was an underlying eagerness to do the project right. Emil always had ideas that contributed to the product feature we were discussing, and the engagement makes me feel secure about working with their company.

They mentioned signing a contract in one of the first meetings we had. We were talking about how they do their business and the contract made me feel uneasy. Not that it's a bad thing, but I remember not having a clear enogh picture in my head and it was too soon for me to sign a binding contract. Emil already asked me about this and I gave him the same answer. Maybe when they see the client has had limited expierience with building products they should not mention contract early on.

The key deliverable was the business data collection they compiled for us. Lexis Solutions was tasked with gathering comprehensive data on relevant businesses in the country and classifying it by multiple metrics.

We were unsure how to guarantee the accuracy of the data we got, and we gladly learned from them that they could reliably extract it from Google Maps. This was enough of a mark of quality for us, and they proceeded with the scraping. In the end, we did multiple iterations of data scraping to identify what we really needed and filter out to keep the data as lean and relevant as possible.

With the end list of business data, we also scraped each business’s user reviews. The developer from Lexis Solutions helped us also classify it by the following criteria: region, town, neighborhood, business category, review score, number of reviews, business offices

In general, because of the relatively limited scope of the project, we had 2 measurable outcomes that guided us forward:

The vendor worked with us to refine the outcomes as project evolved.  The final product met all our objectives.

Communication was primarily by email with regular video calls.  Response to email was always with 24 hours and video calls were always hosted at a time to suit us.  Communciation with the vendor was excellent in all regards.

We were impressed with the vendor's willingness to understand not just our data presentation needs but also the nature of our business.  The vendor was keen to suggest modifications to our original vision and possible future expansion of the product based on their experience of developing similar products, which could be of significant interest to us.

Overall we were impressed with the level of communication, willingness to adapt and flexibility in working to our timeline.
