We contracted two resources for full-time engagement from Knubisoft: a UX Designer and a UX Research to support our needs on the product design team.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
The UX researcher helped us establish our research practice, which was not in a mature state. They also worked on specific project-based research initiatives supporting designers in their efforts to create user-centered designs. This enabled designers to be more focused on their design projects.
The UX designer aided in overflow design support for additional design team coverage as we were growing. They supported a feature team with any UX needs and requests as they came up and worked on design explorations for new initiatives that unfortunately got restructured near the end of the contract.
Describe their project management. Did they deliver items on time? How did they respond to your needs?
The UX Researcher was very proactive and responsive in all of her work. She took the initiative to deliver above and beyond what was asked of her and always in a timely fashion. The UX Designer we hired had some difficulties with understanding project requirements at times and their management of projects was not very structured or efficient.
They were less communicative than expected and at times not as responsive as we would like. Some work took longer than expected and the work wasn't always solving the original problem or following the requirements which meant re-working and therefore adding to the time it took to complete. In addition, file organization was not well maintained.

The speed at which they are able to find resources and fill a position is impressive. They brought to us multiple qualified candidates within days of our requests.

We definitely had some difficulties with communication. The contracted resources we worked with spoke English fairly fluently, but at times there were barriers. We are a globally distributed company, but are based in North America and working and writing language is english. We had difficulty at times with written reports, asynchronous written communication, presentation skills and comprehension of requirements in english.

I’m the head of engineering at Working Eye. Our platform will help teenagers make career choices. It will help them with job options they are interested in later in life by guiding them through their education pathway for high school and university.
Our company is proud to be part of IBM's Partner Plus program and to utilize the powerful capabilities of IBM Watson. Additionally, we are honored to be the first organization to participate in IBM's client engineering initiative.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
What challenge were you trying to address with KnubiSoft?
We needed to hire a company for custom software development assistance. Additionally, as a startup raising C capital, we needed to reduce expenses permanently.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
After conducting our own research, we found that 49% of adults who completed their university education began their careers, but are dissatisfied with their current job. Additionally, there is an apparent demand for improved career guidance for teenagers while they are still in school.
We first consulted with their business development manager. She very quickly arranged a discovery call with the Knubisoft tech team members. I provided them with the complete specifications. Within three days, they presented a proposal that made sense and included ideas we hadn't considered.
We did our own Figma designs with IBM; however, they needed to be more suitable. Our UI needed to be redesigned to match our branding, and they did an exceptional job. They provided us with a detailed scope of work in just two days, which was truly impressive.
Knubisoft is doing all the development for us. They have done an excellent job with our MVP in a very short time. They are much quicker than another company we were trying to deal with.
They use React Native, which is an essential tool for us. They use platforms like Amazon S3, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, MySQL, and Microsoft. They do their frontend development in React Native but can also develop for iOS in Xcode and Java. The KnubiSoft team is well-versed in using Amazon and IBM. Additionally, we use Cloudant as part of the infrastructure. In addition, they utilize Google for some parts of the project. They have ultimately ticked all of the boxes.
Our MVP is a web-based platform. It is AI-driven and based on student needs, preferences, likes, dislikes, and interests. Our system includes AI, chatbot, and machine learning components that help teenagers identify their preferred career paths. Machine learning is used to analyze their preferences and provide tailored recommendations.
In the project's next phase, KnubiSoft will be developing the app for iOS and Android devices, as well as smart TVs. Our team has plans to expand and develop the app for other platforms in the future. The upcoming version of the system will have both voice and text capabilities. We aim to include a conversational chat to help users find the right university or apprenticeship courses. It will also feature high-quality videos that are interactive and engaging.
In the UK, we will share substantial data with government organizations such as the Department for Education. This data will assist schools in developing their university programs according to the requirements of students and projected trends. Furthermore, it will aid in meeting the future employment requirements of companies for the types of job opportunities that will exist a decade from now when these teenagers finish their university education.
What is the team composition?
Our team comprises six individuals: a DevOps specialist, a Java and AI developer, an HTML developer, a data architect, and a project manager. The CTO participated in the initial discovery call.
How did you come to work with KnubiSoft?
I came across their LinkedIn profile multiple times, where they showcased their projects, and I was drawn to their culture. They've worked on various projects, including gaming, education, fintech, media, and entertainment.
I initiated a conversation with the CEO and built a strong relationship based on mutual understanding. They had some expertise and experience in the field we are working with. They contributed valuable ideas and suggestions, and the cost was more affordable than I had anticipated.
We began working with them on this project in April 2023, and it is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We are pleased with the work that KnubiSoft is doing for us. They've been able to reduce the time and cost of development significantly. They provided suggestions on how we could save money. They're always on time and on budget. So far, we haven't experienced any technical issues.
We created a chat flow with the help of IBM. The team pointed out some of our mistakes and helped us improve. We appreciated their feedback, and they even fixed some of the work that IBM had done.
Even though Ukraine is currently at war, KnubiSoft still produces outstanding work. We will be using Knubisoft in the future as our development partner because they've done a great job of understanding our needs and the project itself.
How did KnubiSoft perform from a project management standpoint?
KnubiSoft is very flexible, and working with them has been time and cost-efficient. The team is highly proactive, resourceful, and takes initiative.
Their communication is excellent. How they interact makes us feel like they are a part of the family. We use Slack for communication and Jira for project management.

In my previous experience with outsourced projects, I encountered various problems, including significant errors that resulted in high costs and long project durations.
Knubisoft has been very proactive throughout our collaboration. They're resourceful; they use their initiative. We have complete trust in their abilities and always consider their suggestions.

We use email to keep in touch; they're always available. They've communicated well and implemented all the changes we've asked for.

I’m the CTO at IM Academy, a company focused on online education about financial markets. I handle everything related to technology, mainly our website offering, e-commerce platform, and a back office suite for our sales teammates.

What challenge were you trying to address with KnubiSoft?
We had an outdated e-commerce platform written with old technology and insufficient for our needs. One of my main tasks was to create a replacement platform with new technology. Initially, we wanted to replace the entire back office and e-commerce platform at once. However, our company’s ownership was reticent to do so because they didn’t want to harm sales or performance, which usually happens when replacing everything at once.
I had to think out of the box and find a solution for us to modernize in place and replace things one at a time. To help us do this, we needed a strong team that understood C#, ASP.NET Core, and Perl and could implement what I needed.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
KnubiSoft provides us with development and QA staff augmentation. They're helping us build our new back office suite and e-commerce platform using C#, ASP.NET Core, and Perl. We've provided them with documentation through code and helped them understand the project through demonstrations and discussions.
We had already started the project internally; we built a conversion harness and released an MVP. KnubiSoft has helped us improve that MVP since they joined the project. The first step is to replace our platform's underlying technology, going from Perl to C#. We're about to release that replacement with KnubiSoft's assistance in February 2022. Once that first release is live, they'll help us update and replace the site's features.
Our platform's core feature is selling our product and maintaining the sales data. In addition, the site enables us to sign up users and maintain those relationships.
KnubiSoft has contributed to the design work by providing UI development assistance. We use Figma for high-fidelity designs and Balsamiq for low-fidelity designs.
What is the team composition?
We work with two full stack engineers, a UI developer, two QA engineers, a product owner, and a Scrum master from KnubiSoft. In terms of sales, we've worked with Olga (Head of Strategic Partnerships).
How did you come to work with KnubiSoft?
Since I needed to replace the platform part by part, most companies we would normally engage with had a hard time wrapping their heads around the project. KnubiSoft's in with us was that my first point of contact understood what I wanted to do, so I could immediately work with them.
How much have you invested with them?
Initially, we spent $41,000–$42,000 a month. I've since expanded the team, and we're about to cross $50,000 a month.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started discussions with KnubiSoft in August 2022 and started working with them in November 2022. Our engagement is ongoing.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
KnubiSoft has helped us stay on track to release the project's first step in Q1 2023. Their developers' work is very well-aligned with our requirements. Moreover, the team is well-versed in using the tools; for example, the UI developer and product owner understand Figma very well. Since we're still in the first portion of the project, we don't have metrics yet.
How did KnubiSoft perform from a project management standpoint?
Their communication is very high-level; we have stand-up meetings daily and separate meetings as needed. I'm used to working with an international crew, and their English is very high-grade, so we haven't had a communication barrier.
Our main line of documented communication and ticketing is Jira. We use SharePoint for requirements documentation. Meanwhile, our communication and meetings are through Microsoft Teams. Our internal product manager details the vision and hands that to KnubiSoft's product owner. In turn, the product owner stays in contact with the development team and gathers the story points to put on Jira.
What did you find most impressive about them?
KnubiSoft's biggest strength is their ability to bootstrap and get going quickly. Normally, I would allot a month before a developer is ready for production. However, KnubiSoft submitted legitimate tickets on the second day of working with them. They've demonstrated a deep and fundamental understanding of how software should work.
I've worked in software development since 1995, and one of KnubiSoft's senior full stack developers is one of the brightest, most cheerful developers I've collaborated with. She could run circles around some of the people I've worked with throughout my career — I'm stunned by her.
Are there any areas they could improve?
Some of KnubiSoft's resources trend younger and don't have hard-nosed business experiences. Although they make up for it with the phenomenal technology education they access in Ukraine, their biggest area of opportunity would be to be receptive to business practices. Things don't work the same in business as in college. They're also coming off larger engagements with many more people and could be a bit more dynamic in their approach.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Even though KnubiSoft is more expensive than other offshoring companies, Ukraine's level of technological education is better than most. Previously, I always wanted to hire service providers stateside, and our experience with KnubiSoft has changed my mind.
You might also be concerned about the Russian Invasion of Ukraine, so I urge you to talk to their previous clients. I was initially concerned about that, but my experience has been that whenever the team loses power, they come back online after a few minutes and keep working. The team's fortitude to keep going is impressive, and they'll outperform other providers.

We didn't get any outcome from the little time they worked for us. I spent 3 weeks asking them to deploy the application so that we would check their progress, they struggled terribly with this. We got a strict pack of hours of each position because we didn't know them so that we could make sure that they would start delivering and the designer exceeded these hours. They didn't make the UI improvements responsive so we didn't make any progress at all, quite the opposite actually, it all felt very amateurish. Terrible. The guy (Bohdan) was irresponsive most of the time and later on we discovered that they didn't use our repository, so besides their work leaving a lot to be desired of, they didn't share the repo with our project with us. What they said at the beginning that they would quickly go through the tasks was later changed by the PM saying that things would take time and that everything was super complicated. A complete waste of time and money.

I’m the COO of Within. We provide software development services to companies, from startups to Fortune 100s. We also serve government agencies like the Federal Reserve and the city of San Francisco.

What challenge were you trying to address with KnubiSoft?
We had a lack of skills in-house, so we reached out to KnubiSoft to help us augment our team with the skills we didn’t have.

What was the scope of their involvement?
KnubiSoft provides us with IT resources to augment our in-house skills. They mostly focus on cybersecurity but also help us with software development work for our clients. Additionally, they’ve helped us design some wireframes, and they’ve supported our product development work.
What is the team composition?
Currently, we have about 10–11 KnubiSoft employees working for us. Three of them are working on cybersecurity, 4–5 are working on product design, and the other three are working on software development. Additionally, we’ve talked with Den (CEO) and Alex (CTO).
How did you come to work with KnubiSoft?
One of their salespeople reached out to me via LinkedIn a couple of years ago. I found their message very interesting because they offered discount developers in Ukraine, so I had a call with Den and Alex. They explained more about their services, and we engaged with them.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Given that we work on various projects, the success metric we look for is customer satisfaction, and we’ve always achieved that goal. Our end customer has never complained about KnubiSoft’s work, and they’ve provided us with great feedback.
How did KnubiSoft perform from a project management standpoint?
KnubiSoft’s project management is very good. In addition to customer satisfaction, we also measure the completion of projects on time, which has always happened. Their team is very good at communicating with us via email and WhatsApp. Additionally, they use Jira for our clients.
What did you find most impressive about them?
KnubiSoft’s technology expertise is impressive. They’re strong at software development, and they excel at delivering technology solutions.
Are there any areas they could improve?
No, not really. The only challenge is that KnubiSoft is based in Ukraine, and our clients are based in the US, so there is a time lag in communication. Still, we knew what we were getting into from the start, so it hasn’t been an issue.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
KnubiSoft is very direct, so the best way to collaborate with them is to be very clear about what you want and how you want it delivered so that they can deliver it for you. They’re great to work with and have really great people on their team, but they don’t engage in small talk to avoid wasting your time. Thus, treat them seriously and be ready to get to work.

We engaged KnubiSoft to help design and develop our web application. We’d already built the software but needed KnubiSoft to design and implement the frontend.

What was the scope of their involvement?
We met with KnubiSoft for an initial call where they talked us through their web development and design services. Then, they sent us resumes for their available candidates, which outlined their skill sets, experience, and pay expectations. We interviewed a few candidates and settled on one designer and one frontend developer.
The KnubiSoft team has developed our web application’s frontend. They’ve built the frontend entirely from scratch using React, Material UI, and GraphQL. The web application is an extensive database and asset management system for voice-over audio. The core features include adding, removing, and updating database items.
What is the team composition?
We’ve worked with a sales representative, a designer, and a frontend developer from the KnubiSoft team.
How did you come to work with KnubiSoft?
We posted an advertisement for our project online, and a sales representative from KnubiSoft approached us. We had an initial call and felt their services were a good fit for our project, so we partnered with them.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
At this point, the KnubiSoft team has helped us develop roughly 80% of the application. While we haven’t finished the project yet, we’ve had a very positive experience working with KnubiSoft, and they've delivered superb quality work; we’d love to continue working together.
How did KnubiSoft perform from a project management standpoint?
The KnubiSoft team has been reporting to our internal project manager, so managing the project has primarily been our responsibility. Regardless, they’ve worked through Jira tasks efficiently and completed their assigned workflows.
We sorted out the budget ahead of time, and KnubiSoft has followed it perfectly. We’ve held daily scrum meetings, and the KnubiSoft team has been super diligent and timely. Some tasks have taken a bit longer than anticipated, but that’s normal for software development projects.

What did you find most impressive about them?
We’ve been most impressed with their dedication to our project. The KnubiSoft team has been very responsive and helpful when we’ve had questions.

We’ve hired more junior team members from KnubiSoft, so my only constructive criticism would be for them to keep gaining experience and further develop their skill sets.

I am the CEO and co-founder of a family business called Pyck. We're a green laundry services company that goes and gets people’s clothing and delivers it to them in an ecological and sustainable way. Our main mission is to make laundry ecological, effortless, and very simple.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
What challenge were you trying to address with KnubiSoft?
We approached them because we were looking for an app development solution. At the same time, we wanted to find a partner who could grow with us.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
We started off with a discovery session, which was quite amazing because it allowed us to understand what we could expect from KnubiSoft, what they could expect from us, and what the approximate final product we were looking for.
They used Figma, and the app is available for iOS and Android. We don’t have a desktop app, but we do have an admin functionality for the app through our desktops.
The main feature of the app is that it is fast and simple. Clients use the app to access our service, working through 4–5 steps to prepare their order, before putting their clothes in our specific laundry bags. By going through the app they only have to spend 10 seconds on the actual interaction with us, whether at their home, if we're picking up their clothes, or at our physical location.
What is the team composition?
I connected with around 15 people, but I believe there were around 25 people who worked on the project in total, including 2–3 main points of contact. I was in touch with one person during the onboarding process; following that, we were passed to the architectural design resources. From there, we were in touch with the designer, who we connected a lot with. We were also in touch with the project manager.
How did you come to work with KnubiSoft?
One of my brothers, who is also one of my founders, connected with them a very long time ago. When we were developing this business case, he thought about KnubiSoft, and we chose them from among other vendors here in Portugal. They were able to deliver in a short period of time and at a lower cost than the other contenders.
It was very important to us to find a partner who wanted to grow with us, could give us a good quotation at the beginning, and understood that this project needed to grow. KnubiSoft was very resilient, and we felt like they were part of our team even though we were hiring them as external developers.
How much have you invested in them?
The cost was between €35,000–€50,000 (approximately $35,000–$50,000 USD).
What is the status of this engagement?
The work started in April 2022, and the project was completed in August 2022. There is some ongoing work, as they offer three months of monitoring and problem-solving.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We still need to do marketing to drive downloads, and, because it's the summer in Portugal, people dry their clothes outside and aren't using laundry services as much; our busiest season is winter. I believe that downloads will start at the end of September and October. In the next four months, we expect to have 1,000–2,000 downloads.
When it comes to bugs and crashes, as soon as they're communicated to me by a friend, family, or user, I share it with KnubiSoft, and their project manager responds straightaway via Slack. As soon as I communicate an issue to KnubiSoft, the problem is solved within four hours at the most. The maximum is 24 hours. I've also gathered a lot of positive feedback when it comes to the design; we haven’t had any design issues.
How did KnubiSoft perform from a project management standpoint?
We used Slack a lot for communication and Telegram for quick questions. It was quite amazing how they instantly replied to my requests if there were any bugs, and this responsiveness has continued post-launch. Sometimes they don’t understand what I am trying to say, but they have a very quick attitude toward jumping on the problem. I had a very good experience on the project management side.
What did you find most impressive about them?
The project manager was able to understand what we wanted in all our virtual calls, which was quite amazing. Language can be a big barrier when speaking about technical and development terms, but that wasn't the case with KnubiSoft.
Are there any areas they could improve?
During the discovery session, they could have gone into more detail about button functionality and descriptions from screen to screen. They could also be more clear that the budget is determined by the design finalized in the discovery session.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
You need to have a very strong connection with the person that is going to manage the project. Additionally, be honest in terms of what you want versus what you expect. As soon as there is an issue, talk to KnubiSoft straight away because they will solve it immediately.
Be straightforward with them from day one and they will be straightforward with you. They have very strong core values and are efficient.
