Kitrum collaborated with Muteki Group on several projects and continues our productive partnership. The first project was a fintech platform that provides easy crediting for clients in the South African region, and the second was an online gaming platform for an Israeli-based company. Kitrum delivered all the project management, hiring, and communication efforts needed to implement these projects. 

Besides, Kitrum was responsible for multiple complex tech solutions on these projects involving their senior-level developers. Key deliverables included:

KITRUM worked closely with our teammates to build several top-notch projects, including frontend for a fintech app using React and Angular for the South African target audience. The client wanted to reinvent the product as an automated banking app with unique business logic, expand existing tech and data teams, and improve their ability to reach more SMEs in South Africa and beyond. 

KITRUM had to align itself with the roadmap, do a ton of research, and ensure the new app provides better banking and lending services with an architecture that allows for scaling locally and globally. 

KITRUM also has provided technical expertise, management, and support, including back-end development in charge of the design of the SaaS Solution hosted on Azure for a company that aimed to enhance food safety and quality performance and compliance in a rapidly changing environment. 

This project was founded and oriented on the French and Serbian markets. It should offer application-driven, tech-enabled solutions to activate a holistic approach to food safety & quality, leverage the power of IoT and cloud computing to unify food safety & quality data, transform them into actionable insights, and enable real-time decision-making. 

Additionally, KITRUM cooperated and managed the mentioned projects to provide clear client understanding and achieve goals for these products. KITRUM contacted us and after we reviewed their portfolio, we knew it was the right thing to hire those guys, as we discovered that they have a lot of experience in fintech. At the first meeting, we discussed the work terms and KITRUM gave us a clear outlook on how the process is built. We had no doubts we wanted to work together.

Lately, our client raised $2.5 M in funding over 3 rounds and were ready to scale up. It was time to create a modern application that would make our services more accessible. KITRUM had to work on our application’s frontend, which would align with the prototype of our design team working in Figma. As the first website was launched almost 10 years ago, and had some legacy technology and codebase.

The client utilized Tempo library, but after close consideration, KITRUM team came with their expertise and decided to start the project with a new design from scratch. That really gave a boost. KITRUM’s team selected the Agile methodology and divided the project into 5 sprints. The main tasks were to build architecture, develop UI and shared components, choose and integrate website management tools, execute CI/CD integration and implement the solution.

The team at KITRUM consisted of Senior and Middle frontend engineers, a QA manual engineer and a Product owner. The company takes care of candidates’ search, HR and Technical interviews. KITRUM helped us to create an up-to-date lending platform optimized for mobile, making it easy to keep track of the deals, review the terms and create requests on any device. The SMEs can now calculate in the app the amount of money they must pay each month, keep track of their spending and estimate the revenue.

All this made users feel much more secure and in control of their financial situation. KITRUM also improved how SMEs provide their info to the app, enabling us to make decisions faster, resulting in less time, which is the most important for businesses.

The team communicated very well, we did not experience any delays with responses. We used Slack and email, the project management was on our side (we use Jira, Confluence, GitHub)

First of all I want to note flawless communication: we were always updated on the process, received all the answers on time and the guys asked us questions, that in perspective led to better results. The tech knowledge of the team was on a high level, they understood the goals of the project which we felt were common for both teams. And it's great, because the engineers were really involved in the process.

KitRUM deployed AI-based cloud solutions for the backend and platform development while employing machine learning C#,.NET, native iOS, and Android for the front-end and applications.

With the dynamic user interface, users can access and manage their bank balance which was made possible by integrating API modules. They can also apply for credit facilities and upload any relevant document easily for credit assessment. Other features KitRUM implemented on our platform includes e-signature function, creditworthiness assessment, video and chat support etc.

Our TMS (transportation management system) was outdated and wasn't able to meet the current business needs. We initially hired another software development firm to re-engineer the system. After the project had a 100% over-run on budget and a 100% over-run on timeline, we sought out other development firms to complete the project and get us back on track.

Our goal was to complete the development work on our TMS, identify and correct bugs/errors, and successfully push the product into production.

We found KitRUM as part of a search for development companies in eastern Europe, as this area seems to be where innovation is coming from currently. I identified 11 firms and scheduled video interviews with each of them. From those 11 interviews, I took detailed notes on the conversation and set follow-up interviews for four firms to talk with our executive team.

Two were selected for in-person interviews. From these two, we selected KitRUM to complete our project. We had two main criteria for selecting our development firm: technical knowledge / execution as well as effective and thorough communication. In both these areas, KitRUM excels.

KitRUM completed development of our TMS, migrated existing customer and shipment data, released into production, fixed bugs, made improvements, and continues to support the system on an ongoing basis. They began with a detailed code review and deep-dive into the system requirements, both technical and operational. After identifying the issues and next steps required to bring the product to a production-ready version, the team created user stories in Jira and set up the CI/CD pipeline in GitLab.

Development work began with a two-week sprint cycle. After release to production, we adopted an even more aggressive push cycle and often made 3-4 production pushes each week, during normal business hours, without interruption of service for customers or staff. Our TMS is build in PHP (Laravel framework) and Node JS. We have API integrations with multiple service providers as part of the quoting and booking process.

How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?

Our team scales up and down as the project needs dictate. It has been as high as nine full-time developers, QA engineers, and project managers and as low as four members. Always present on the team are the Project Manager, the Lead Developer, and a few Mid-level Developers (who are skilled enough to really be Senior Developers). Developers are typically full-stack so that they can work on both front-end and back-end systems.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

KitRUM was able to successfully launch the TMS into production. They fix bugs in an extremely timely manner and we continue to release new features each week. Their work is always high-quality and the QA team catches most issues prior to them occurring in production. The core development team has been on the project for nearly two years so they are very familiar with the code base and are mindful of unintended consequences in other areas of the system.

Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.

Our Project Manager is fantastic, and is a key part of our project's success. She keeps the team on target and bridges the gap between the customer-side and the technical-side. The development team holds daily stand-up calls. They also have a call with our Senior Developer 2x per week, and a weekly call with the Product Owner once per week. We use Jira for our ticketing system, Slack for our chat messages, and Google Meet for our video conferencing and screen-sharing.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Communication. I can't overstate the importance of clear and effective communication with the Project Manager as well as the team. A common concern when working with any offshore development team is worrying that the team is ACTUALLY understanding what you're saying and how things need to work. All of the team member speak fluent English and are able to understand the projects.

If there is ever any concern, our Project Manager steps in to speak Ukrainian or Russian to the team and bridge any gaps in their understanding by explaining the project in their native language.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

We have been extremely happy with the results KitRUM has achieved for us and can't think of any areas that need to be improved or anything that I'd do different with the project.
