BACKGROUND

Introduce your business and what you do there.

My organization is called The Point of Health, Inc. and I’m the owner and president. I originally started with healthcare, providing a special type of massage therapy for people just out of open-heart surgery. Because I was tired of carrying materials around to make house calls in New York City, I started to develop a product in 2016 called It’s No Yoke. 

It’s a really lightweight, hands-free device to help pedestrians walk around the city, airports, malls, etc. this device also enables them to keep multiple bags, shoulder straps, on their shoulders and still keep their hands free — it’s also lightweight, foldable when not necessary. That’s my product and it has received a patent, a U.S. patent as of May 11th.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with INOVIT?

A how-to animation video had to be done to develop an awareness of this rather unique product, and that is what INOVIT did.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

The project with INOVIT was completed about a week ago, so I’ve not been able to process it in terms of putting it out on YouTube and social media. However, that’s something that will be started by next week. I will say that when I first made the phone call, Irina (Project Portfolio Manager) answered the phone immediately, and was incredibly clear and professional in describing everything that would happen in the process of an explainer animation video — she followed through completely on this process.

She explained how many times I would have a redo or remake or whatever, and everything that I asked for, she promptly provided. 

They were courteous to work with, no complications, and in my opinion, the price was also incredibly reasonable. She had a team to take care of the legal aspects of the contract, and a group of people who I can choose from to do the voiceovers. Her sketches were always corrected as I wanted and whatever information I fed her, she used them in a very concise way. I have nothing but praise for the work for Irina from INOVIT.

For the content of the video, I let them use the website. I also provided points that I thought were most important to cover for a 60-second video, and they were able to do it and make up the storyboard using the things that I felt were important. I gave them one simple sketch to help explain something, and they got the idea and then created their own sketch.

They were right on with everything I wanted. I also initially gave them some assets like photos of the product and my brand logo — the final video clip actually runs at 1 minute and 17 seconds.

As for the voiceover, they offered me a selection and once I made the selection, I just had to have them correct certain pronunciations twice, and now it's just fine.

What is the team composition?

Well, the animation part is all black and white drawings so no real people are shown. For voices, I’m going to assume that it was one person who did the voiceover.

I was told in the beginning that Irina herself was the developer and the designer, so I don't know who else she needed to use to develop the drawings or the texts — we could say that she was the project manager.

How did you come to work with INOVIT?

I saw her listed on my LinkedIn.

How much have you invested with them?

The fee was $2,000 in two installments. The initial and the completion were $1000 each.

What is the status of this engagement?

My initial phone call to Irina was about the middle of April this year. I signed the contract with her on the 21st of April, and the project was handed over to me basically on the 24th of June — it was very efficient.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

As I said, the final clip has only been seen by me, on the 25th. I did show it to one other person who had done some support work for me, and this person who developed her own products a few years ago and patented them — and she was very impressed in describing my process. She was impressed to think that INOVIT was so efficient and reasonable and she also liked the product. 
However, as I said, I am going to be speaking with people this week and to get it out on YouTube next week. My developer also has to see how it would look on the website.

How did INOVIT perform from a project management standpoint?

They were excellent. They stated from the beginning exactly what they would do, what their timeline was, what the price was, and how much leeway I would have in building up the project and they followed through completely. They were very efficient. In fact, it would have been faster, but there were delays on my end.

As for communication, we didn’t use any project management tools like Skype. It was one initial phone call and after that, everything was by email. From my point of view, it was seamless, subtle, and everything was clear because it was in digital writing, so that we could always refer back to what the former email was — it was a clean process.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Thinking about doing an animation, it seemed like a good idea since I’ve got so many videos and movements on my website, so I thought of keeping things simple. One of my mottos is a quote from Leonardo da Vinci, “simplicity is the ultimate sophistication”. I saw a black and white line animation that was simple, clear, without bells or whistles — I just liked what I saw on their website.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I really don't know because they came through on every level, the right kinds of contacts, connections, information, products, and timing. They were courteous and I just think they hit the mark.

Any advice for potential customers?

Know what you want before you start. I think that INOVIT and their team are capable of doing a lot of great things, but the more information you provide them in terms of what your vision of the animation should be, the better they will be able to fulfill your desire. Know exactly what you want and then be surprised at how they take your vision and manifest it into that video.
