When I first started, I would use resources on the Indian market, in order to reduce costs. IndiaNIC produced superb quality, and we’ve established a relationship over time, working on many projects together.

What was the scope of their involvement?
IndiaNIC is our development partner. They execute all of our mobile and web development, based on the design we produce in-house. They have produced backend admin panels for us, as well as apps for iOS and Android.
How did you come to work with IndiaNIC Infotech Limited?
I had a business partner in the early stages of the business until we had a feud. I made the decision to go with IndiaNIC based on the quality of design I saw. They produced pixel-perfect material. Ultimately, it was the human element that decided it for me. I compared prices and looked at knowledge levels, but having a transparent relationship and being willing to learn was important. Our relationship is the result of being honest with each other. We’ve become like one team.

What is the status of this engagement?
We started working together around two years ago, in August 2015. IndiaNIC continues to provide maintenance and development for our applications.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Any design we give them, they’re able to execute perfectly. In terms of capability, they’re extremely good. One of our apps reached number one in three categories in less than 48 hours, and got me featured in a business magazine. This was achieved through the work we’ve done together.
I have invested in other things, and have launched multiple companies, but the trust I have with IndiaNIC is an important factor in our success together—if they weren’t capable of delivering, I wouldn’t have stayed with them.
How did IndiaNIC Infotech Limited perform from a project management standpoint?
I’m in Australia, while they’re in India, so there is a time difference. They’re accommodating in working around this and actually come in two hours early when required. We have used JIRA and Slack for communication, and I speak with the team every day.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They have a great pool of talent and are able to deliver large projects, which is something we rely on.
Are there any areas they could improve?
There are always improvements to make. Management becomes more difficult when teams become bigger, but IndiaNIC handled this well.
Do you have any advice for potential clients?
People have assumed that I simply know some very good developers in India, but it’s not that. It’s a matter of briefing them very well, and selling them on the idea and who the product is for, so they have proactive empathy for the project. If we are creating a website for a small business run by a woman who has worked all her life, and who treats her employees nicely, I will communicate this to everyone in the project, so the team becomes emotionally attached. When people put their hearts into something, magic happens.

We had a Yahoo Legacy store and they did a redesign of our site and they're currently working on a mobile version.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
We had them rebuild the e-commerce site, basically in the Yahoo Store editor. They redid the navigation, product pages, content pages, and then the check out section of the website, for example. Some of the tech they used was HTML, Javascript, and RTML which is a Yahoo thing.
What is the team dynamic?
They had three or four developers working with us. But I mostly worked with the project manager for communication purposes. We did mostly via chat.
There's always the time barrier for IndianNIC, they only work certain hours - they're in India. They were okay on language.
How did you come to work with IndiaNIC Infotech Limited?
They were one of the approved Yahoo store platform business providers, vendors.
I found them through Yahoo's directory and they seemed to have experience working with a lot of the type of stores that we had.

It's pretty low. It was in the ten thousand dollar range - not very high.

The e-commerce website redesign happened in 2012 and took about six months to complete. They’re currently working on a mobile version for us now.

I am the owner of a consulting company. We are building a platform aimed at helping authors and writers write, market, and publish their books.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
What challenge were you trying to address with IndiaNIC Infotech Limited?
Trying to setup this new project to advance our platform and build a new one, while continuing to maintain existing clients, proved too difficult for us. We had quite a lot of deliverables which I’ve given to my team for development that weren't getting done for lack of resources. We needed more manpower and more expertise to build our platform.
We were looking for someone to help us navigate how exactly we wanted to accomplish our goals and design the web apps for us. I had been a project manager in a corporate environment and led teams which worked with offshore resources, so I knew what to expect, in terms of process, but this was the first time I utilized an outside company for my own business.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
IndiaNIC helped us scope out and build our web applications. I worked with them on 2 different projects. I needed flowcharts, wireframes, designs, and platform recommendations. So, they helped me decide what to build the actual platform on as well as to scope out the cost and timeframes for these and identify ways in which we could optimize and streamline the process. Their team actually designed the web apps for us. The backend we’re using is PHP, with jQuery.
What is the team dynamic?
Strictly for the development, I believe that IndiaNIC has assigned 2-3 developers for the current project. We have another developer in-house working with them.
How did you come to work with IndiaNIC Infotech Limited?
I had a process that involved research and looking at companies with similarities to those I’d used within the corporate arena. I looked at their websites and the scopes of their past projects, how many different areas they had expertise in, and how big the organization was. I've worked with other organizations in the US and got a few quotes from them for this project.
With IndiaNIC, I met with the owner and some team members, when they came to the United States to meet with other clients. I was able to talk about my project, which gave me additional assurance about IndiaNIC being the right organization. I saw that there were some things we’d be able to delegate in terms of overall work. IndiaNIC seemed to be more attentive and wanted the work more than any other group. Many other organizations would have simply said: “Call us back when you’re ready.” We needed help getting ready, and this is what IndiaNIC did.
How much have you invested with them?
The overall cost, once the entire project is done, will be somewhere along the lines of $51,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
I initially engaged them in September 2016, and we talked off-and-on before executing a contract. We worked out the contract and began work with IndiaNIC Infotech in May 2017. The collaboration is ongoing.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We’ve been working with IndiaNIC for almost 90 days. The deliverables we’ve had in this timeframe for both platforms have already made the project move much faster than when we were trying to deliver them internally. We’ve made more progress in the last 60-75 days than we did for all of 2016 and part of 2017. The investment is showing a good ROI for us.
We can see how much they’ve helped the project. We now have actual deliverables, and can see the platform’s potential in wireframes and prototypes. We’re able to interact with it, and see what the project will look like once it’s completed. These 2 tangible deliverables equate to more progress than we’d had throughout the previous 6 months of the year.
How did IndiaNIC Infotech Limited perform from a project management standpoint?
IndiaNIC asked me about my time preferences for meeting with them: late or early my time, which was great. But if I send them a quick message at any time of day they are receptive. We use Skype for most communication, and talk 2-3 times per week about the projects to make sure that the designs are on-pace and that milestones are being hit. We also use Basecamp. These 2 tools have helped overcome the time zone difference, and any language barrier was overcome in our initial meetings.
The process didn’t feel rushed for us. I reached out to them in September 2016 for an initial engagement, and we didn’t start working together until May 2017. During that timeframe, if we had a question, even if it was once every 2 months or 2 weeks, they always had answers and were ready to roll as soon as we were.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Their attentiveness to clients makes them unique. I don’t know how many clients IndiaNIC has overall, but based on my research they do have a good roster. What I do know is that our project manager was very attentive, and took the time to research the project, and gather information about it. It almost felt like he was only working on our project, although I’m not sure if that was actually the case. It was what we needed since we were trying to have tangible results, but we were not making that progress on our own. This was what we were looking for when we brought someone on.
Do you have any advice for future clients of IndiaNIC Infotech Limited?
Ask IndiaNIC as many questions as possible, to help them understand what the project is about. Even if you don’t know, ask them for examples of how they would approach the project, and start gathering information on how you want to move forward.

In hindsight, we could have saved time and money if we'd taken more time in the design phase prior to engaging with IndiaNIC Infotech. I believe this goes for every company that has a vision or product they'd like to bring to life. Obviously, this doesn't reflect negatively against IndiaNIC because they bring to life the design that is presented to them. But for companies who desire to work with programmers or web developers, it is critical to have many people look at the design, process, flow, and future applicability of your product. This will save time and money as it will eliminate scope creep.
Are there any areas they could improve?
When we have verbal discussions, we sometimes experienced a lack of understanding about project development. To avoid communication issues, it would be highly beneficial to have a written recap of the verbal discussion, with bullet points. This will eliminate frustration if the design isn't developed according to what was agreed upon during a conference call. This did take place during the initial development, but it sort of slacked off over time.

I had given them all of my ideas for them to code the web application. They used SQL and other technologies that I expected them to. They were also able to establish the server on AWS (Amazon Web Services).

I had tried to use another company, but they didn’t do what I expected. They didn’t set up the site with SEO, and a year later we couldn’t find our website through Google search. The communication and process were great. We communicated through Skype just about every day. They were able to meet the contract and everything was done to my specifications. The big challenge was at night because of the different time zones.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They do a really good job. I know what to expect from them. They have enough skills, and the people who work there are all in the same office. The other companies that I considered were all over the place geographically. It was confusing. My confidence was not the same with other companies as it was with IndiaNIC. I was very satisfied. Other places were more expensive.
Are there any areas they could improve?
They could improve their graphics and studio. The main thing is the computer coding and what that involves, but if they had a studio setup there, that would be amazing. I don’t see any problems with them. If clients have the patience to give IndiaNIC time, it’s worth seeing the results in the end.

Delays extended well beyond agreed timelines with no completed milestones, highlighting a serious lack of project management and technical capability. Ultimately, the project was plagued by failures to meet basic deliverables, resulting in an incomplete and unsatisfactory outcome.

The Graft Calculator, in use now for quite some time, helps control hair per graft averages while extracting grafts from different zones on the scalp (temporal, parietal, and occipital) through data simultaneously input by surgical assistants as they check graft quality and hairs per graft averages during the extraction phase.
This valuable real-time feedback allows for the adjustment of punch size and technique according to the set homogenization plan and the targeted hairs per graft average. An added feature of the Graft Calculator is that patients can follow the number of grafts extracted and other surgical statistics during surgery on surgical room screens.
