While initial phases might have shown some progress, the major technical failures indicate that critical elements were either not delivered correctly or were delivered with fundamental flaws that made them non-functional. The fact that after 3 years and $20,000 invested, the app was unusable due to technical issues is a clear indicator of a failure to deliver a usable product within a reasonable timeframe. The time and financial investment were effectively wasted due to the poor quality of the delivery. Responsiveness to Needs: Their responsiveness to my needs was extremely poor, particularly when it came to addressing the critical technical issues. When the problems were identified, and even after a third-party audit confirmed serious flaws, there was a clear unwillingness to take responsibility. This demonstrates a fundamental failure to respond to the most significant need: a functional and technically sound product. Furthermore, my request for a partial refund to resolve the situation professionally was met with a now-deleted message implying fake review retaliation. Based on my experience with IdeaUsher, what I found most... unique and, in a way, unfortunately impressive was their ability to deliver a product with such significant and fundamental technical flaws that were only revealed through a third-party audit, despite a lengthy development period and substantial investment.
While this is clearly not impressive in a positive sense, it's unique in the severity and nature of the issues. The fact that serious structural flaws like improper architecture, memory leaks, and outdated practices were present after 3 years and $20,000 invested is, frankly, astonishing and a level of technical failure I had not previously encountered to this degree.
Another aspect that was uniquely unimpressive, but noteworthy in its sheer unprofessionalism, was their response to the issues and my attempt at a professional resolution. The now-deleted message implying fake review retaliation was a truly unique and shocking level of unprofessionalism that I had not expected from a development company.
So, while I can't point to anything positive that was impressive, the sheer scale of the technical failure and the uniquely unprofessional response were certainly noteworthy and, unfortunately, memorable aspects of my experience with IdeaUsher.

I’m principal and co-founder of a niche technology consulting company. We provide unique solutions in high performance, hyper-scale, and advanced technology applications for both software and hardware.

For what projects/services did your company hire Idea Usher , and what were your goals?
We contracted Idea Usher for several engagements. We asked them to bridge new hardware technology into an existing consensus protocol; to help develop an NFT bridge and provenance application for EVM and non-EVM blockchains; and to assist in smart contract development for novel web3 infrastructure, oracle, and backing platforms and protocols.
SOLUTION
How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?
We found Idea Usher through online searches using standard one-off consulting engagements. Once we started discussions, It was clear they offered more than simple engagements and so we increased our usage to more sophisticated goals.

We leveraged 3-week sprints to support a process of learning, prototyping, and MVP. The team leveraged a combination of languages including Golang, JavaScript, Solidity, Python, and C across the projects. We deployed the applications using kubernetes and cross-team CICD best practices.

We had as many as 7 on the team at a time depending on the phase of the project. These included roles in:

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?
The team delivered on all projects admirably and on-time. For our project, exploration and testing can often result in alternate needs and paths before success — this happened in one case and the Idea Usher team handled the pivot well. We ask for a very high standard for all our projects, and Idea Usher has admitted we challenged them, but they've grown to the tasks and the projects very well.

Project management is standard agile with several conversations per week. Our team does its best to work on the Idea Usher schedule and to allow them to make the most of their time. This worked well and all projects were delivered on time.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
Our projects are all very unique in the industry — often they are the only challenge of their kind in the world. Idea Usher did not expect this on first meeting with us, but quickly rose to the challenge. They never tired of learning new things, bringing their computer science educations to bear, and work on new concepts continually.
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
Documentation, documentation, documentation. As with any technology team, the key to turnover is in the docs. This is true with Idea Usher as well, though we were able to work around this with slack and conference calls more often.

My wife and I are co-founders of Mama Fua Digital Ltd. We’re a startup.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
What challenge were you trying to address with Idea Usher?
We were trying to create an app that allowed unemployed youth in Kenya to find jobs as home help and home service providers. We were looking for someone affordable to outsource the work, and Idea Usher had a lot of experience in this field.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
Idea Usher created an app for Android and iOS. This was our first app, so we didn’t know what we were doing. They helped us by giving us a roadmap around what they’d provide for us.
Initially, we gave them a sample of a competitor whose app we liked. We told them to provide us with something that captured the same idea but in a simpler and better way. We requested two core features: the provider’s ability to find the customer’s location and the second was for them to use our homegrown payment service provider. We didn’t want to use an international payment service provider because we had a unique payment system.
They gave us a customer journey to show us how our users would use the app and a diagram with screenshots of how the app would work. Essentially, Idea Usher gave us the skeleton and samples of how the app would look in the end. They also gave us the experience in terms of challenges we’d encounter along the way and things to consider before we designed the app and did the coding. Overall, they helped us realize which things wouldn’t work, and we benefited a lot from their experience — they helped us avoid several pitfalls that we didn’t see coming.
We used Flutter, which allowed us to port Android development easily into iOS. Their team helped us with the infrastructure and created the backend system. Since we didn’t know anything about AWS, they were integral for us. We couldn’t have done it without them.
They also uploaded and published the apps, including handling problems that automatically came from the App Store. It was tough to publish to Apple, so it was really helpful to have someone with experience dealing with Apple’s bureaucracies.
Finally, they’ve asked us to take their marketing services on board, but we haven’t reached that stage yet. We’re still trying to collect funding before we can afford to go for their marketing service. However, they’ve given us some informal advice about what we should do, including how we should market, test in the environment, and the pace we should go before we fully launch to ensure that we iron out any bugs.
What is the team composition?
About six people worked on the project, but we only dealt with three. We had a project manager, a UI developer, a coder, and a team lead who was our main point of contact.
How did you come to work with Idea Usher?
We looked on Fiverr and saw some work samples for some home service apps. We were very pleased, so we contacted them about their costs. Considering we were creating two apps, their price was the most affordable.
As someone making an app for the first time, I was very hesitant to pay upfront to someone I’d never met. It was a high risk, and there was a point where we had a conflict of ideas, so I thought I should cancel the project. However, they called an emergency meeting and explained why they had changed the cost. At that touchpoint, they were charging more than we agreed on, but it was because the conditions I gave them changed, and it increased the cost. In the end, they advised me on what I needed to drop for the price to go back to normal.
How much have you invested in them?
We spent about $7,500, but a lot of it went to Fiverr’s commissions.
What is the status of this engagement?
We worked with them from March–December 2021. We’re now in the after-service period, and they’ll support us until February 15th, 2022.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
They met the deadlines and published both apps perfectly. Since I’m an IT auditor, I know what to look for and how to look for bugs in an app. Idea Usher delivered high-quality work even from the initial draft and the app’s first version.
Moreover, I liked the color scheme, wording, and simplicity. Our users are low-income and marginally educated, but they haven’t had problems using the app, which speaks to its simplicity and quality.
How did Idea Usher perform from a project management standpoint?
It was very well done. They were very communicative, which was a strong point for them. The team talked to us a lot and ensured we didn’t go quiet. They also ensured that we were always in the loop about what was happening, and when we had any questions, they encouraged us to ask.
If we didn’t agree with something, Idea Usher encouraged us to bring it up, and they tried to resolve it from their end without any additional cost. All in all, the project management was perfectly done.
We used Zoom and Google Meet for video meetings and Slack to chat.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They acted more like a friend as opposed to employees. When we thought we were too much, they reassured us so we didn’t feel like a bother, which was good for us since we’d never done this before. Idea User really helped us, and they were trustworthy people.
Are there any areas they could improve?
Although they could’ve told me not to use Fiverr, they did really well. They boosted my confidence in using outsourced services, and I’ll keep this team for the long-term maintenance of the app because I’m confident that it’ll be successful with their help.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Don’t go in with any assumptions or fixed mindsets. If you have little experience in what you’re doing, listen to them — they have experience in this field for a reason. I had to learn it the hard way, and we lost a lot of time because I kept arguing about points before I realized that we should do it their way. Therefore, I was happy they were courageous and confident enough to correct me.

We wanted to create an engaging and wholesome fitness experience for our clients on a digital platform and let them exercise outside the gym. We wanted to have an app that could track daily activities, provide customized exercise and meal plans, provide them with guided videos, count calories, and buy fitness nutrition and supplements. This would replace a personal trainer.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?
See, our first deciding factor was that they have worked on similar projects in the past. The SPOC who led me through the discovery call was technically sound, so I got an overview that these guys are fit for the job! He was kind to walk me through the development cycle and ETA and know-hows of the deliverables.

The project was going to consist of 3 separate stages: Developing a fully functional IoS and Android app, Setting up our website with a user login functionality, a membership area, and a platform to purchase plans. Social media marketing (influencer marketing, running our online challenge, etc.)
One thing that I appreciated about Ideausher was that no matter how our ideas changed, we could contact them anytime. Our project manager reacted quickly and handled communication with the rest of the team, which implemented our changes.
How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?
I was assigned 2 Project Managers who oversaw the project from beginning to end. One was responsible for all the tech development process, overseeing the app related tasks. He had a team of Front End and Back End developers, Designers etc who took care of all the technical stuff.
The other manager was responsible for generating a full fledged web presence with a website and active social media handles. Lead generation, Email marketing, Influencer marketing and other related tasks were also taken care of by them.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?
Personally, I really love the design of the app. I find it engaging and transparent. As for the functional side, my team tried using the app. They found it easy and accurate to specific parameters which is a good sign. We have done a beta launch since then and have received some very good reviews.

As for project management, they followed scrum methodology. Well-defined Sprints were created and tracked completely. The overall processes were well organized. Ideausher was very transparent in the early stages in how the work would be organized. We had regular meetings to stay on top of the project and frequently received emails with updates. I felt I had control over the project, which was great.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
Everything was completed exactly as we wanted. They treated the project as their own and were meticulous to the details. The phases were well defined and the design was just exceptional. To be true we have had worked with several companies before but the experience had not been very great so Idea Usher was a pleasant surprise for us.
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
There services have been quite good and there isn't anything as such which I didn't like. I just hope they provide good support services as well.
