What challenge were you trying to address with Greenhouse Marketing?

We were doing all of our email and SMS marketing in-house, which I felt was an inefficient use of our bandwidth. We didn't have the capacity to add too much strategy or personalization to our email and SMS campaigns.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Some initial goals we wanted to accomplish with Greenhouse Marketing were to redo all of our email flows, add more personalization and strategic targeting of our audience depending on particular attributes, and create a welcome series for customers specifically acquired through our brick and mortar stores.

Greenhouse Marketing has taken all of our objectives and run with them. We've accomplished all of them within the first few months of working together. The team has delivered new creative and messaging across our welcome, win-back, and abandoned cart series.

How did you come to work with Greenhouse Marketing?

We found the Greenhouse through Startup CPG. At the time, we were doing all of our email and SMS marketing in-house at McConnell's, which I felt was an inefficient use of our availability, not to mention we didn't have the capacity to add too much strategy or personalization to our email and SMS campaigns.

One day, we were on the Startup CPG Slack Channel and noticed a post where someone had asked for recommendations for great email marketing agencies. Greenhouse Marketing was mentioned in response to the post. I checked out their website and scheduled a call with Kerri.

On that initial call with Kerri, I remember feeling like she really understood the internal constraints we were up against and how much our brand stood to gain from more strategy around email and SMS marketing. I understood that working with The Greenhouse would feel like an extension of our internal marketing team, which has been that way.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We've seen significant increases in our attributed revenue from email and SMS marketing across our e-commerce and in-store channels. Revenue and engagement are the two main metrics we track.

Greenhouse Marketing's project management and organization are second to none. I love the Friday emails they send with any outstanding campaigns for me to review, as well as any updates or assets needed.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their team really feels like an extension of our team. They're on top of our marketing and campaign calendars and have gone above and beyond for various initiatives, including setting up sweepstakes entry landing pages on our website. Their team is so great to work with and always looking for ways to continually improve and elevate our email and SMS marketing.

Greenhouse is wonderful with project management.  They were always prepared, always organized, and always professional.  I always received my weekly update emails, and the team was always responsive in Slack and in Notion as we worked to approve campaigns and flows.  They made this part EASY.  I feel like they project managed in an efficient way and made the client interface as simple as possible in regards to approving or giving feedback on campaigns before deployment.

I truly value the culture within Greenhouse and who they hire to work with clients.  Everyone was a great mix of personable, friendly, and professional.  I never felt like I received subpar design or copywriting and when I voiced a question or concern it was quickly addressed.  I'm not a massive client, and having worked with multiple agencies accross the e-comm spectrum of services, I know too well how easy it is to start feeling like another "number".  I never felt that way with the Greenhouse team.  They will take care of you.

Greenhouse stepped in while our in-house retention manager went on maternity leave. They easily transitioned and took over all email executions and site opt-in pop ups. They delivered about 10-14 campaigns a month during our time with them and improved some of our flows. They worked off of our marketing calendar and lead the work in creating the content briefs based on the calendar all the way through execution. They created and tested new segments, they A/B tested content and other things to optimize campaigns and updated flows to improve engagement, click through and conversion.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Quarter over quarter, our email revenue increased by 30%, they created winback campaigns that performed greater than goal, bringing back more customers to the brand, the updated flows that are starting garner greater engagement than the prior flows we had and we had many customers reach out and comment on the creative executions that they delivered, showing that customers were more engaged than before.

Kerri's helped us diversify our marketing (instead of relying on pesky ol' facebook) we own our growing community and customers through email + SMS. Since Greenhouse started, we've more than 2x'd our revenue on email, and 1.5-2x'd our SMS. Email + SMS now account for over half our monthly revenue.

Communication is crystal clear between the bi-weekly calls, monthly recaps, notion, etc. They've got the workflow dialed.

The time and care they put into being our partners, they don't just phone in email series. Greenhouse is always working to optimize flows + campaigns and grows with you as the business grows.
