Although iteo is providing a wide range of IT services on a daily basis, for this particular project we were looking for a team with excellent skills strictly on WordPress. We had a few conversations with Fooz even before the project kick-off, and it quickly became apparent that they had experience and the required tech skills.

Fooz team was responsible for both frontend and backend implementation of the WordPress website. They have received UI designs made by us, with all the necessary design guidelines and requirements at the beginning of the project. SEO, page loading speed optimization and deployment of the website were also a part of the project’s scope.

The team consisted of a Senior WordPress developer and Project Manager.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

Our client is very satisfied with their new website. After the hand-over of the designs, Fooz team took care of the entire project - they prepared an estimation of time & cost, came up with a timeline and delivered the website on time. Our involvement during the development phase was rather marginal, which - to be honest - is desired, while working with an external partner.

The workflow was very effective, we were impressed with their involvement from the project management standpoint. We were using Slack channel to communicate and to solve any problems along the way.

Fooz have extensive experience in building websites on the WordPress platform, so you can rely on their expertise in terms of technology implementation. They are planning their work with confidence - even with the client's tight schedule, the deadline was never at risk.

The website is 99% done. We’re waiting for 1–2 more items to be put on the site, but it’s live for the most part. I’d rate them 10 out of 10 — I’m very satisfied with their work, responsiveness, and price.

How did Fooz perform from a project management standpoint?

Project management was very good. One person managed our project, and she was always very responsive. She served as the middle-person between me and the developer, and she explained everything to me. 

Communication was good. We used Slack and sometimes email or phone.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They paid attention to detail. Our site required a lot of detailed tasks, like animation. Everything was perfect and looked very good.

So far, we have been cooperating on two large web development projects for our clients. We were responsible for the design phase of the projects, and Fooz team was responsible for implementation of the code and Wordpress engine.

Fooz has been recommended to us, when we were searching for an experienced and reliable Wordpress partner. Their portfolio and positive reviews convinced us to meet with them, and talk about possible cooperation. It turned out really quickly that their workflow and approach to the projects are similar to ours, so we found a common language right from the start.

So far, we’ve worked with Fooz on two separate projects - both being website front-end implementations with Wordpress back-end. These were rather complex and demanding projects - not only in terms of the front-end requirements but also from the back-end perspective (advanced content editor settings, Rest API integrations etc).

Although we know that our graphic designs are highly valued by our clients, we also had to deliver the technical part, and in this area Fooz excelled. They also took care of the deployment process, page speed, SEO optimization and maintenance.

Our clients and users have praised the visual appearance of the websites. Both projects have been delivered in time and within budget.

I’m very satisfied. Agile workflow was definitely a key part in the success of our projects developed together. We were using Trello and Teamwork during the development phase, as well as Skype and Slack to communicate. Fooz team complied with deadlines and always communicated any delays ahead of time.

They know their job - simple as that. They are taking initiative, can think outside the box when necessary and roll up their sleeves when the deadline is tight. We were also impressed by how quick they are to solve unexpected issues or respond to change requests from clients.

I’m the CEO of a development agency. We design and build websites as well as advise various different digital projects.

We have a number of WordPress customers, and Fooz works on the sites’ backends for us.

What was the scope of their involvement?

While we manage website design and content, Fooz manages development and technical aspects of the platform. There’s a grey zone, but as the problems become more technical, Fooz helps us to solve them.

We work with their backend team following an Agile process. Their team develops WordPress websites and solves technical problems when they arise. After Fooz sets up the sites, they take care of the backups and regular processes to prevent hackers and viruses. They also developed a couple of plugins for us.

What is the team composition?

We work with a project manager and a developer who is responsible for the project.

How did you come to work with Fooz?

We decided that we needed more technical help three years ago. We had negative experiences with previous outsourced providers and sought a new company to support us. At the time, I was in a business network that Fooz used to contact me.

Their fast and friendly responses were one reason that we chose them. They also seemed competent. We had direct technical talks with the head of the company who involved themselves in projects. I’m also the head of my company and work on projects too. Fooz seemed to be a good fit, so we decided to go with them.

We started our first project in November 2017, and we’re still working with them.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Fooz is the backbone of our WordPress sites. Their team’s our first choice of partner when we need to develop a new product. They have great knowledge of WordPress’s possibilities.

We also have a functional alarm system. If an issue arises, we directly reach out to Fooz. We have different customers but there hasn’t been a problem that their team didn’t solve.

We seek partners with an honest interest in building quality products. We believe that Fooz has that interest based on their ideas and the quality of their work. Their team also has fun with the projects.

How did Fooz perform from a project management standpoint?

Fooz doesn’t cause any delays. If there are delays, they’re usually due to an issue on either our side or the customer’s side. When we communicate with them, we get answers. It’s always friendly.

We had 1–2 bigger projects that needed project management. On the other project, however, we only needed internal project management. In all instances, it worked well for us. Comparing Fooz to other companies, they have good project management skills.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Fooz initially looks into a project and then gives good estimates to prevent problems during the project. If an area of the project’s unclear, we’re aware in the beginning and react to it. This isn’t true of all companies. Many try to get the contract but don’t get into the details. This can cause many problems during the project if it’s complicated.

There is no salesperson in between us, which is how we want to work. We don’t want to talk to sellers. That’s what many companies in this area of business don't understand.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They could make more suggestions, especially during long-term projects. For certain projects, we have worked together for three years. It would be helpful for them to give us more input on where we could technically improve.

Landingi is a SaaS company enabling business owners and marketers to build landing pages and popups independently, without any coding skills. Using our solutions, they are in full control of design and launch so they can start converting visitors into leads in a couple of hours. My job in the company, as a CMO, is to spread the word about Landingi and acquire as many customers as possible.

The new website looks really good and, what's most important loads fast, so the experience of using it by our visitors is very good.

The quality of the frontend implementation was really good. Fooz understood very well what we expected and executed it on their side.

I think they've learned a lot about how to improve their backend skills, especially when it comes to using more advanced hosting solutions like AWS.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

As a result of our cooperation with Fooz, we ended up with a clean-looking website, which demonstrates characteristics of our business. After launch, we received lots of positive feedback from our team, and - most importantly - from our clients. I think the workflow was effective mostly due to the fact that all requirements were discussed in detail and gathered at the beginning of the project. I think that the kick-off meeting between our graphic designer and Fooz team helped massively for both sides. During the development phase, we’ve been receiving updates on a weekly basis regarding progress status alongside upload of new page elements already implemented on staging instance. After launch, Fooz team was eager to help us with any other questions related to content management on our new site.

We designed UI and all the patterns, from there we developed a technical requirements document. It was also very important that WordPress was implemented in such a way to make it easy to maintain.

It wasn't enough that we had code dumped in blocks, we needed fully-flexible custom-built blocks in WordPress that would enable any nontechnical member of our team to make edits and maintain the website.

We worked with project manager and full-stack developer. Fooz provided a consistent team for development, as well as after the launch period.

We sent RFPs with some questions to several companies including Fooz. We narrowed it down to Fooz and another company. Fooz responded the best to our business goals in terms to the quality to price ratio. They weren’t the cheapest but they gave us the confidence that they could address our development needs. They could also fit into the very tight schedule that we had. We needed the results in 2-2 ½ months. Fooz responded to that exceptionally well.

We started working together in February 2020 and the work is ongoing.

The new website is live and everything is fine. We had no problems with the implementation. Going live was prepared in a good manner. It took 30-60 minutes and there were no errors. They delivered high-quality code within the timeline set. They were also very helpful with our internal IT when it comes to handing over the code, implementing it, and going live. They handled it very professionally.

How did Fooz perform from a project management standpoint?

They have a proper software development process in place. We were given the right people to talk to. There was a project manager who was in touch with us all the time.

We set up a Slack channel for daily communication. We had weekly updates with them where we exchanged information. We did a simple Q&A on a daily basis.

They were very quick and efficient. They kept us informed throughout the process. They met the deadlines we set and stayed within budget. They’re very flexible in terms of time. The communication is really good.

They did everything just as they should. They handled the project as I expected.

Fooz provides us with design implementation, frontend development, and WordPress integration. They did some backend development too—mostly building some custom elements. Their work is more frontend than backend.

There are no problems with the work they create. If there are minor bugs, they quickly handle them. What they produce has great value and always functions really well. The user feedback is very good. We’ve won three awards, in part because of Fooz’s work.

Their project management is consistently high-quality. They work together with our designers in close cooperation. Their project manager is in constant contact with our team, and sometimes the designers work directly with the developers.

The CEO was always available for any concerns, or if I had top-level things to discuss. They’re very responsive, they meet deadlines, and they’re reliable. We communicate via email and phone.

They deliver high-quality code and high-level optimization. The sites we develop together are very fast and quick.
