I am the CEO of a company allowing our subscribers to manage their finances through a specialised mobile application. We planned to develop a FinTech application allowing users to manage their personal financial activities. The appointed manager dealt with any questions that arose during preliminary calculations and offered solutions that could positively influence the development process and result in the quality of the future product. That is why we decided to start cooperating with them.

Before development started, the team analyzed the existing solutions in the market with similar functional scope. That was needed to outline the strong points of the solutions and define the unique combinations of functional modules to suit the business goal. After this, the team made an architect analysis on the division of the solution into functional modules, for future scalability and stable work of the system under high load and numerous requests from users.

As far as the application should run on Android and iOS, the design prototype was developed with the consideration of the specific points of each of them. After development aside from unit tests, comprehensive quality assurance testing took place, both automatic and manual. As the final step, the team introduced the deployment of the apps in two stores together with the adjustment of the accounts and filling in the necessary forms, privacy statements and analytics.

As a result of the development, we received two apps with similar functions, for iOS and Android, that were created by a single team. It was successfully launched in the market and the first adopters already tried them and submitted reliable feedback on the system. With that, we can move forward and apply the next ideations that are in our roadmap. We are going to continue with EVNE Developers as they showed their reliability and involvement in our product.

The project was guided by the Project Manager who allowed us to concentrate our attention on the inner business plan on further goals rather than control the development process. The most impressive about the company is the way they communicate with you. They not only do development but also try to solve your business needs. Our site is immensely complex and needed some highly skilled coders; working with React and Django they produced effective, workable software solutions, enabling multiple user types at the front end, and 7 administrator types in the back end. 

Their project manager and coders put forward many brilliant suggestions / recommendations during development, each of which have greatly improved our product and service offering. They clearly all worked hard to do the very best they could.

Their (high-end) designer / graphic artist is an absolute genius at creating stylish but simplistic, user-friendly designs. Her superb designs and layouts far exceeded our expectations.

We communicate daily via Skype and Google Meet with their project manager by performing various tasks, who forward those tasks to developers. Any company is made by its employees, as well as here, wonderful experienced staff who understands what they are doing and why.

We have cooperated with EVNE Developers for half a year. Together with the team we successfully managed to perform front-end development, modification of old interface, as well as support services for the system. The technologies of the product included React, TypeScript, MobX, GraphQL, Apollo, Material-UI, Formik, ExcelJS.

As far as the area of the product is a business startup, it required constant improvement and implementation of new features according to long-term strategy. Such an approach was successfully reached with the communication skills of the developers. They resulted in the complete refusal from daily long-term meetings that wasted too many resources.

We like the flow of the team they perform their tasks, the attitude to the project and their ability to form the ground for future stable scalability.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

We've mainly used Slack for direct communication and Trello for creating Backlogs and sprint catalogs. Redmine was used for time tracking and budget tracking.

Sometimes communication was a little bit challenging when request was made from the client, to project manager to the developer, especially when the project manager changed. But as a long-term project, this was foreseeable and EVNE was always responsive on clarifying issues and finding a common ground.

There is always room for improvement, both from the clients side and vendors' side. Having said that, as a UI/UX Designer, I focus on details.

I began working with EVNE Developers’ owner, then continued communicating with other resources. I have been pleased with everyone on the project management side. For me, the most important aspects are communication and the attitude of partners. I know that, when I assign a project to EVNE Developers, it will be managed. In my eyes, this involves a few parts. Some are more professional and related to task delegation. Others are related to how the client’s expectations are managed, with respect to deadlines.

I don’t know how tasks are delegated, and I like this fact. I don’t care what happens behind the scenes. There is one person who talks to me, and who knows me and my project. If he doesn’t know a specific answer, he will check, but I can make an agreement on deadlines. I haven’t seen the technical side of project management, but rather the front side, which is more important than anything. Constantly missed deadlines and miscommunication would have made me leave EVNE Developers a long time ago. Deadlines are always missed in this field, but there is a way of communicating that to the client and proposing alternative paths for catching up. This is how I manage projects with my own clients, and it’s how EVNE Developers manages the work with me.

The only measure I have is the websites, which everybody can see. The project is for a big electronics retailer in Germany and they are extremely satisfied with the work EVNE has done on their site. They have shown the site to other people and they have praised it a couple of times internally and externally. If my customer is satisfied, then I am too.

Our project manager is available nearly 24/7. I can always contact him either at work or from home in the evening. In the morning, he is the first to write to me when I’m still in the car driving to the office. He’s performing extremely well.
