I am a co-founder at Cordie, an educational hospitality platform working at the intersection of EdTech, digital products, and media.

What challenge were you trying to address with dops.digital?

Since the final product is a digital platform that combines a few diverse services and addresses audiences in different cultural markets of different age and background, the challenge was to create a fresh and appealing product and UX/UI solution for all the segments and parties.

dops.digital handled web design, branding, and frontend development after providing them all the information we had. They’re currently helping us with everything that involves the product’s launch. They also assisted with finding a name for it because we struggled internally to find one for some time, and helped structure the project itself, which was important for us.

We started working together in October 2018 and the collaboration is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

So far, we’ve completed several significant milestones—most importantly, they’ve created value. The qualitative feedback we’ve gotten so far has been overwhelmingly positive. Users find the UX design clean, simple, and intuitive. They also helped to structure the project itself, which, in our case, was important.

How did dops.digital perform from a project management standpoint?

They’re quick, efficient, and always in touch with us. We use email to connect, which works perfectly, and their communication is transparent and professional. They also hit deadlines and leave space for additional changes.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Overall, the team has either met or exceeded our expectations for delivering high-quality results on time. They are capable of understanding the project from a business and management point of view.

They demonstrate dedication and take the time to really assess and dive into their client’s business ideas and goals so that they understand it from the inside. This was very important for us because we have a very niche business. Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the owner of VyB. We make 3D visualizations for the real estate sector. Often, they’re in the form of renderings on billboards that show what’s going to be built on a specific site.

What challenge were you trying to address with dops.digital?

We tried to upgrade our website with an outsourced firm in Romania, but it didn’t go too well. We then asked dops.digital to make us a completely new website.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Our website is basic in that it’s not a shop where clients can buy things. It’s meant to show what we can do for them in the best and nicest way possible. Our sector is visual, so sales depend on images, not words. We wanted a design that would showcase our images without burying them underneath complicated effects.

dops.digital both designed and implemented our site. We provided them with a couple of websites we liked as references, and they came up with sketches they thought would work well. Though the site launched after three months, they’re always adding new features (VR, Unreal Engine), and will probably be doing so for the next few years.

What is the team composition?

I’ve only been in touch with Andrew (Project Director and Co-Founder, dops.digital). Multiple people worked on our site during the build, but there’s only one making changes now.

How did you come to work with dops.digital?

A partner in Ukraine recommended dops.digital to us. Though we didn’t look at multiple providers, our agreement with dops.digital enabled us to pull out if we didn’t like their first design.

How much have you invested with them?

We've spent $10,000–$49,999 so far. 

What is the status of this engagement?

The original website project lasted from March–July 2017.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We’re not an online store, so we don’t track movement on the website, but we often receive compliments from clients on how our website and renderings look. Most of our clients come to us through social media platforms but when talking to us on the phone, around 70% mention how nice the site looks.

How did dops.digital perform from a project management standpoint?

We weren’t in the biggest rush, so we didn’t set a clear schedule. With design, it’s all about taste, and we were so busy that we took a long time to give them feedback. When they did receive the feedback, they incorporated it in the agreed upon time.

We communicated via email and provided our feedback via Zeplin, an online service where we can upload designs. We’re actually using it ourselves now, for our clients. I work with a single point of contact, which is my preferred method. I’ve even met him a couple of times when I’ve been in their city on business.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They’re incredibly creative. Any design we came up with would’ve been boring and standard in comparison. Their design implementation was seamless. When they showed us sketches and options, they knew how everything would move and interact with everything else. We knew their design would work from the beginning.

Other companies may have a creative person develop the design, but they’d have a technical person implement it who may not appreciate small details, which can cause a bumpy transition. dops.digital implements the design so it looks and reacts exactly as their drawings did.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, not that I’ve noticed.

Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?

Tell them as much as possible about the design you want. The reference sites you give them don’t have to be exact copies of what you want. Let them know as much as possible about your company and vision.

We decided that we wanted to make a strong channel for new customer involvement, which involved a structural redesign and the addition of a significant amount of new content. We provided a mockup and dops.digital provided the complete UI [User Interface] and UX [User Experience] redesign. Their team created an interactive prototype and showed us some options in the process.

I found their portfolio on Behance and I really liked it. Then, I contacted Andrew [Project Director, dops.digital] and we went through details about our project.

Hacker’s Mind is a group-based application that provides an interactive training for up to 12 participants. The goal of this application is to get participants to care about security through a guided and interactive experience with a set of discussions that introduces the way a hacker thinks and what they’re motivated by.

What was the team composition?

They provided a project director, and art director, a designer, an illustrator, a developer, and a technical director.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The application is still in its development phase and under a non-disclosure agreement, so I can’t share anything for now. However, we are happy with the results of their delivered services so far.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Their communication is really good—they respond quickly despite an 8-hour time zone difference. The results have been provided in a structured way and if we want to implement changes to the interface, illustrations, or code, then they are properly updated. I like how they manage their work.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

The quality of their design work is really amazing and emotional. Whenever we share our project with our stakeholders, they are surprised in a positive way.

Are there any areas for improvement?

We would have liked to decrease the time spent on video presentations and had concerns that that took away from design time. However, it turned out that they leveraged their video team to create the video in parallel to the design work and produced the video for free, which was a delightful bonus!

We’ve used this video as a guide for our developers to see how the animation should properly work. Given the time zone and language differences, I found it helpful to have the requirements documented as clearly as possible with visual examples of what I had in mind. This has made sure that we receive designs that we really like in the first round without too many iterations.
