Please describe your company and your position there.

I'm the Senior Data Science Manager at the Residential Business Unit at NOS and the Data Science Chapter Lead of NOS Advanced Analytics Centre of Excellence.

For what projects/services did your company hire DareData Engineering?

We needed a strong data engineer partner to help us raise the bar on our mlops practice, ensuring that products are running smoothly, monitorized and delivering business results.

Strong tech credentials of the two partners Nuno B. and Samuel H.

We have several products related with product recommendations to Customers. Daredata works totally integrated with our agile squads and they're flexible to help us on tasks that range from designing the AI/ML product up to implementing the different components on each product:

• data acquisition
• eda
• feature engineering
• modelling
• execution
• monitoring

How many resources from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?

Nuno B. holds the NOS account. We work directly with Nuno in staffing needs, work model and team needs. Each product squad has machine learning engineers/data engineers from Daredata. At the moment we've 4 Daredata developers at NOS, one on each squad.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We've adopted tools that helped us to better develop and manage our data pipelines together with Daredata - airflow and cicd pipelines. We've raised the bar in coding through promotion of engineering practices. We've abstracted code that is useful for more teams that added productivity and a cleaner codebase.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Very effective, Daredata is part of our internal team. The way I see it, we're a team.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

DareData Engineering has the resilience to make the effort in improving our development and production processes. This has significant organizational challenges that we tackle together.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

We've implemented retrospectives to sort out continuous improvement in relationship with Daredata. An example of something we improved was the staffing profile for NOS and associated conditions such as the type of duties or lenght of stay in projects. We've optimized the profile making sure that incentives were best aligned.

The project focuses on initial business assumptions about key sales, identifying correct data to translate into actionable insights, creating sales arguments, and running large-scale proven actions to ensure increased sales and profitability.

Around 3 or 4 data scientists and 1 Senior/Scrum

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The implementation of data driven and Analytics steps, we were able to bring answers to the business, in order to direct some decisions, based on numbers that prove the effectiveness of the proposed models, still in the implementation phase, but with great prospects of great results for the area and company

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

The weekly stand-ups are quite productive and the Daredata team is always available to support with punctual demands

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Their ability to bring clarity to the application of models in practice is amazing.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Maybe, standardize governance in some specific sprints
