We hired Brenton Way to manage our marketing services, which include content creation, SEO and PPC, social media and influencer marketing, email marketing, and website optimization.

What were your goals for this project?

We wanted a marketing partner that could show us how to grow, give us different options, flex with our budget, and deliver what they promised. Our goal was to achieve everything in one place.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor?

They followed up for six months while we were working with another vendor, showing us many areas where we missed out.

Describe the scope of their work in detail.

Using our landing page, they built a funnel around our target audiences. They wrote blogs and pages for our website and delivered new videos and blogs every few months. They used that content, along with SEO, to increase our site traffic tenfold. 

Based on our feedback, they delivered graphic designs, copy, and Facebook and Google AdWords content. They managed our Instagram presence and optimized our website to increase conversions. They also built an automated offer for abandoned carts to get customers back onto our most important pages.

What was the team composition?

Our head of campaign strategy led five others, including a campaign manager, a project manager, an SEO specialist, an ad specialist, and content writers.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Unbelievably, our website traffic increased 8500% in three months. Engagement and returning buyers both rose by 45%, visits to abandoned carts were up 24%, and conversion rates increased by 28% across organic and paid advertisements. 

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

It was highly effective. We used their platform to track the team's progress. We also met biweekly with their team to review upcoming tasks and review previous work. After each call, we received an agenda, a recap, and infographic reports that explained the results.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

The results were amazing, but I also appreciated that they corrected and improved issues right away. We never chased them down to get results. They were proactive about everything.

Are there any areas for improvement?

The PR services they offered at first were difficult to evaluate.

I’m the co-founder of Musacian. It’s a platform that helps users of all ages find their favorite musicians using various search filters like location, price, genre, and listening experience.

What was the scope of their involvement?

First Brenton Way helped us define our vision, then they put together a variety of niche strategies designed to help us penetrate the market. We split the work into short-term and long-term components. Their short-term efforts included a local SEO campaign, influencer partnerships, and several Facebook advertisements. The long-term efforts span a nine-month period and mainly focus on Facebook campaigns. These advertisements target specific music genres, so each had a different marketing strategy. In addition to SEO and Facebook support, Brenton Way also built our website and several landing pages. They’ve implemented strategies to funnel leads according to traffic type.

What is the team composition?

I mainly speak with a campaign manager and a project manager, but there are a few other teammates in the background. In total, we work with about five people from Brenton Way.

How did you come to work with Brenton Way?

I’ve worked with Jonathan (Founder & CEO, Brenton Way) in the past. We considered other vendors but ultimately went with Brenton Way. They were very realistic when discussing the scope of the project, and they offered a lot of services at a reasonable price. Their willingness to do extra tasks at no additional cost showed their commitment to the partnership. We trusted their team.

How much have you invested with them?

We pay them monthly, but the cost varies based on the type of work. In total, we’ve invested about $30,000 in their services.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with them in June 2017, and it’s an ongoing partnership.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Our traffic rates increased by 4500% after six months of working with Brenton Way—it was pretty amazing. Additionally, our Facebook add campaigns are generating prospects at $20 a click, so the return on our investment measures to about 380%. Across all social media accounts, we’re gradually gaining followers. I’ve pleased with their work, and we’ve developed a pretty strong friendship with their team.

How did Brenton Way perform from a project management standpoint?

They’re a startup, so the beginning of the engagement was a bit rough. It took us a few tries to properly structure the team and assign responsibilities. Their project management skills improved as the involvement progressed. Now, we work with a stable and efficient team.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I appreciate their responsiveness. We also get a lot of value for our money. They use advanced technology and tools in their internal processes, which eliminates all tedious tasks and allows them to allocate more time to their clients. They focus on action items, striving for continuous progress. Because they already have the background knowledge and skill, they don’t have to spend a lot of time doing research.

Are there any areas they could improve?

In addition to early project management challenges, they also took a while to grasp our brand style when creating social media content. They’ve resolved that problem at this point, though.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

By focusing on how users navigate through the funnels, Brenton Way was able to improve the functionality of the website.

Our organic traffic has increased as a result of high-level keywords. We’re not a company that sells products; our users are trying to consume information. Our team never thought that Brenton Way would discover keywords in the distinctive ways that they do.

How did Brenton Way perform from a project management standpoint?

Since Brenton Way is at the startup stage, we were surprised at their excellent project management. Jonathan is very meticulous and engaging about the information he presents to me. He makes me feel like we’re a unique client.

Shelley has been great at communication. I’m not always involved in every call, but they are responsive with our team.

We are also at the startup phase, and Brenton Way has been very flexible with us because of that. If we want to change something, their team is right there alongside us and update the funnel as necessary.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Brenton Way’s team is passionate and cares about the work, but also knowledgeable about the subject. Their work ethic shows us that they’re trying to get to know our business.

Are there any areas they could improve?

The backlink list isn’t the best, but overall, there’s nothing else they can improve. Their team has done a fantastic job.

I'm the head of marketing at Pendo Systems. Our company transforms unstructured data into structured data sets. Unlike databases, documents like Word, Excel, and PDFs make data extraction difficult. What challenge were you trying to address with Brenton Way?

We tasked Brenton Way with optimizing our SEO performance. In addition, we hired them to help improve our audience perception on two specific social channels, LinkedIn and Twitter.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

On Twitter, we wanted to be seen as an active participant in the substantial conversation happening around fintech. By sharing the right information and making topical points through that channel, we aimed to establish ourselves as thought leaders. 

Regarding Linkedin, we'd been putting most of our effort into our company LinkedIn page. Brenton made the critical point that the platform is for human-to-human interaction, so it was more important to build credibility for our CEO and founder. We followed that rule and used her account to further amplify the messages that we push through our website and social channels. 

What is the team composition? 

I've mostly worked directly with Jonathan (Next-Gen Business Strategist, Founder and CEO, Brenton Way), and latterly also with Shelley Ram.

How did you come to work with Brenton Way?

An agency with fintech experience in our field would have given us a cookie cutter response. We were starting from a low baseline, so I needed a team with a fresh way of thinking. Brenton Way offered a unique, innovative perspective. 

Interestingly, they're one of the few people whose direct, unsolicited correspondence I’ve responded to. Their founder crafted an excellent email that was so interesting I followed up. I contacted some of the direct references he offered, and they gave me excellent feedback.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with Brenton Way in September 2017 and are coming up on the one-year mark. 

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Our website has seen the most success so far. Brenton Way produced a substantial uptick in the number of direct site visits per month. We’ve also seen a notable increase in the length of time users spend on our platform. It’s clear the team successfully got our name out there. From a keyword point of view, our audience is directly typing in the words "Pendo Systems" as a search term.

Before we hired Brenton Way, our Twitter audience was 300-400. Now, we have just under 2,200 followers. They've allowed us to mount comprehensive and most importantly, consistent communication in that particular channel. LinkedIn doesn't allow for close tracking, but we know that engagement has increased.

How did Brenton Way perform from a project management standpoint?

We've gone through a couple of people. Luckily, the founder is responsive when things aren't going the way they ought to be and makes changes as needed.  This aspect of our relationship took a little bit longer than anticipated to get right. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

Brenton Way fulfilled the criteria I'd hoped for most of all; a fresh perspective. They're not hamstrung by the way things are done in financial services. Instead, they help us find ways to be unique in a category that's usually boring. That fresh outlook and their proactive recommendations pinpointed useful new things to do. 

For example, they showed me unprompted a cutting-edge video tool that enables us to release videos in a regular cadence with little cost or manual work. It went so well we now feature their work on our homepage. It lets us construct content that’s topical to our efforts as they are produced in real time. I truly value their honesty. If something goes wrong, they generally are the ones to tell me first. If they don't know something, they'll say so and then go find out.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Project Management is the only area I'd say they have some work to do. The team made adjustments as needed and subsequently, it was much better. Our project never got dramatically off track.  When issues, arose, they quickly resolved it. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

If you are looking to genuinely collaborate with an agency, you should select Brenton Way. If you just want an agency to complete tasks and not think, then don't select Brenton Way as you simply won't get as much value out of the relationship. 

Brenton Way is beneficially challenging. They'll tell you if an idea you propose isn't right and suggest a better one to do instead.
