Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the co-founder of EdXP, an educational institution in Singapore and China. We’re an EdTech company focusing on the IB program. My expertise is in education; I’m great at coming up with educational content.

What challenge were you trying to address with Atta Systems?
We needed help with the development of our platform. We wanted to make our services and expertise accessible worldwide.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
Atta Systems has helped us build a cloud-based website and all its features. The platform isn’t mobile-enabled yet, but they’ve helped us with some of the UI/UX design. We initially explained to them what we wanted to achieve and sent them samples of different websites and companies. We showed them the features we wanted, and they brought them together and made them work for us.
We have several features, including one that allows assessing students. If we’re preparing a student for an exam, the first thing we want to know is where their proficiency is. The platform pulls together all the questions in it and comes up with an assessment based on the difficulty level. Atta Systems has created the technology behind that.
First, students receive a diagnostic assessment. After the student finishes the assessment, there’s a self-marking feature that Atta Systems developed based on our specifications. Depending on what questions the student gets right, the platform is able to tell what standard the student is in and where their strengths lie. Afterward, we asked Atta Systems to create a recommendation feature as well. Knowing the student’s strengths and weaknesses, we can recommend a game plan based on their goals.
Currently, Atta Systems is helping us with maintenance and hosting until we have our own in-house team.
What is the team composition?
We’re not sure how many teammates work on our project, but we’re usually in contact with two team members. We also have a project manager assigned to us, so if there’s any issue, we speak with him. Moreover, a good thing about Atta Systems is that even though we’re assigned a project manager, we can also go straight to the founders.
How did you come to work with Atta Systems?
A friend of ours used their services before to create a mobile app; Atta Systems designed and developed it for them. I looked at the app, and it was impressive. Then, the opportunity came about for us to develop an EdTech platform. We wanted someone that we could trust and could realize our vision.
We contacted Atta Systems, and they happened to be flying out to Singapore, so we had the opportunity to speak with them in person. We felt comfortable with them, and they were the only ones that understood what we needed. Atta Systems recommended things that we hadn’t even foreseen, which was very helpful. Moreover, it was important for us to work with people who understood us.
We did a first project with Atta Systems, and they surpassed our expectations, so we had another project with them.
How much have you invested in them?
We’ve spent about $100,000 on this project.
What is the status of this engagement?
We began working with them in August 2021, and it’s still an ongoing project.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Before Atta Systems, we did things manually. The platform is for markets we’re not currently available in, and it has been very successful. We launched about two months ago, and now we have users from over 50 countries using the platform. We’ve had a few thousand signups, which is amazing. Overall, the project is very promising, and we hope it’ll become even bigger.
How did Atta Systems perform from a project management standpoint?
They respond to us within 24 hours. Moreover, they’re really efficient, which is one of the things we like about working with them.
We mostly use WhatsApp and Slack for communication. If we want to do things more formally, it’s via email.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Their responsiveness is outstanding, but their most impressive trait is having the foresight to recommend things to us. Most of our team isn’t tech-savvy, so we didn’t know how to bring the vision we had to fruition. Atta Systems recommended the best way we could do things for our platform, and even though they aren’t in the education space, they knew so much. The features they’ve recommended and brought to life have helped us achieve success in a short time.
Are there any areas they could improve?
I honestly haven’t found any faults. Most of their team is located in Romania, so our initial concern was whether they’d be able to respond to us quickly enough, but they’re responsive even on weekends. However, if we had to pick something, it’d be the time difference. Sometimes we meet with Atta Systems at night, which is our only issue. Other than that, we haven’t had any problems at all.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Trust Atta Systems and share your ideas with them as much as possible; it’ll help them understand exactly what you want to achieve. People try to guard their ideas because they want to be the first and don’t want anyone to steal them, so they keep them close to their chests. However, Atta Systems can recommend things that will help you along the way. If they don’t know what you have in mind, there’s only so much they can do, so let them help you to the best of their ability.

The Child Protection Information System (CPIS) is a government information system developed for Ministry of Labor and Social Protection designed to store, process and provide social, medical, educational and public order information on children (at risk, separated from parents, adopted, abducted, repatriated) and their family or legal representatives / guardians, as well as information on actions taken against children.
The System has the following objectives:
Digitization of data collection processes on the situation of children in the records of the competent authorities and maintenance of a database in electronic format. Through the SIPC, users will be able to record, manage and monitor data and information on children's cases, and act in accordance with the working algorithms related to the identified level of risk in order to prevent risk situations and / or adjust interventions in the best interests of the child.
Support obtaining relevant information about the case (including the status of the case, with the generation of alerts and notifications), making referrals of the child to relevant social services, transferring files between case managers from different second level administrative-territorial units, obtaining relevant information from other sectors (health, education, public order, justice) through the Interoperability Platform (MConnect), as well as managing individual assistance plans, cases of adoption, abduction and repatriation of children.
Ensure the calculation of performance monitoring indicators in the application of case management, ensuring alternative child care or adoption, as appropriate, preventing and combating violence against children, repatriation of children, assistance to the child victim of the crime of abduction, with the generation of reports statistics and dashboards for making informed decisions about the cases of children registered in the system.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
The following deliverables were expected:
Fully functional Child Protection Information System (CPIS) that meets the software requirements specifications and is hosted in the government cloud infrastructure.
Software testing – During the design and coding phase, the provider should ensure that each function written has an accompanying test functionality that passes before conclusion, this will aid in automatic testing. The service provider should also conduct thorough software testing accompanied by a test script and user acceptance testing through a demo to verify the software system and assure that the final user is satisfied with the software features and interface and provide a user acceptance report for adoption.
System deployment and training – the service provider should prepare documentation guides (User guides, Administration guides, Developer guides) and conduct training sessions for the system users. As an optional feature, the service providers can prepare a video guide to satisfy training needs.
Maintenace – service provider should prepare a maintenance and adaptation plan.

After working with AB4 Systems to develop SkinVision, I approached them again to build out our medical solution for Medicai.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
AB4 Systems has developed Medicai’s entire medical imaging platform from scratch, translating our business needs into a solid product design. They use several technologies to develop the front- and backend.
The main challenge has been setting up the right cloud infrastructure. At the moment, the solution is mostly a web app that exists on a clinic’s local server. By pushing the system into a cloud environment, we could create new features for clinics to use that wouldn’t be possible with their current server limitations.
Besides scaling our product, AB4 Systems is also partially responsible for incorporating user feedback into the design. I work with them closely to ensure that the final build has a good user experience.
What is the team composition?
There are 8–9 team members, including a project manager, a systems architect, a graphic designer, a UX designer, and developers.
How did you come to work with AB4 Systems?
I’d gotten to know AB4 Systems through their work on SkinVision. At the time, I was having problems filtering user-submitted images, so I needed an iOS developer that also understood image analysis.
Their team stepped in and fixed the app for me. As the project continued, they grew as a company and gained a better sense of what I needed. It was a natural step to hire them for Medicai because if a team works that well, why break it up?
How much have you invested in them?
We’ve invested around $250,000–$300,000 so far. We have another $200,000 budgeted for next year.
What is the status of this engagement?
We began working together on this project toward the end of 2017, and the engagement is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
The product went public 3–4 months ago, and we already have users. Out of 200,000 requests, the error rate on our backend is only 0.0018, which is amazing.
As more users onboard onto the platform, who knows if that error rate will continue. It’s unrealistic to expect zero technical issues, but we’ll be fine if we try to limit bugs.
How did AB4 Systems perform from a project management standpoint?
They’ve been great. We do 1–2-week sprints depending on what needs to be done, and they interact well with other parts of our company. In terms of communication, we use different project management tools like Slack to keep focused.
I appreciate that I’m able to speak to any team member directly without losing sight of the project goals. If I have an urgent task, I know that I can call their developers and count on them to execute without messing up the sprint plans.
That level of coordination is not typical with other agencies. I’ve worked with disastrous teams that wouldn’t budget things properly and often choked on the work that needed to be done. They’d take on other projects without allocating enough time to properly finish ours, which caused month-long delays. With AB4 Systems, we’ve managed to avoid most of those things.
What did you find most impressive about them?
I appreciate how well they’ve integrated with my company. They have a bird’s eye view of our business and understand the complexities around the project.
They know that the product development team can’t be isolated from the rest of the company if they want to make the right impact; they need to be a part of the bigger organism. It’s about synchronizing with the marketing department, customer support team, and sales.

Initially, we had a few calls with Atta Systems to fully understand the project and the requirements. The team then fine-tuned by conducting user research and interviewing potential customers through questionnaires. Atta Systems has designed our app's UI/UX using Figma, keeping me in the loop to ensure I'm satisfied. The team has proceeded with software development using Node.js, Next.js, and React.js.
Our app has an extensive question database and selects questions tailored to the student's performance. The app also has an AI system able to read the answers and determine if they're right or wrong, providing feedback for every answer, even if it's correct, to reinforce the understanding of concepts.
What is the team composition?
We work with 5–6 teammates from Atta Systems who manage the project, including UI/UX designers, software engineers, and full stack engineers.
How did you come to work with Atta Systems?
We found Atta Systems through Clutch and set up a call with the team. Atta Systems was efficient on the call and shared their services offer to determine whether they fit this project well. We decided Atta Systems would manage our project and liked that the team offered good advice before signing the contract. I first talked to Atta Systems in December 2023, and our engagement started in January 2024. Our engagement is ongoing.

We've taken down our previous application from the market, so we don't have active enrollments now. My experience with Atta Systems has been positive, and the design work is really good. We've worked with a couple of external UI consultants who are also impressed with Atta Systems' work. I want to congratulate the entire team.

I suggest having several calls with the team before engaging with them. The IT sales team listened to my needs and had two-way communication, offering helpful advice for me and my users. Atta helped us design and develop the mobile application for SensorInsight, for both iOS and Android platforms, for mobile phones and also tablets. The apps were designed in Figma, after several feedback sessions with our team and developed in React Native. The applications are used by our customers (vineyard managers and staff) to monitor their crops and visualize the data produced by our sensors from wherever they are.
The app is a great addition to our software, a lot of our customers asked us for a long time to develop an app for them. Atta did a great job to understand the requirements, they worked really well with our current team that develops the backend and web app. They were very autonomous and delivered the apps fast with almost no bugs.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
The outcomes were to deliver easy-to-use mobile apps for iOS and Android. The first version of the app (for both iOS and Android) are done, we are now going through the review process with App Store and Google Play. We expect to launch the apps in the coming days/weeks. All our expected outcomes have been met, and we are very happy with the results.

What challenge were you trying to address with Atta Systems?
We needed to find a company with in-depth experience in developing native mobile platforms for both iOS and Android. What we were doing was very sophisticated in terms of leveraging the smartphone’s existing sensors and hardware because smartphones aren’t really built for our purposes.
Therefore, we required a partner who understood the ins and outs of smartphone firmware systems and could develop apps that leveraged smartphone sensors in the best possible way. Moreover, given that this app would be used in healthcare, we also needed to meet a lot of requirements regarding its security and robustness.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
We originally hired Atta Systems to develop our iOS app because we were working with another agency on developing the Android version. However, our experience with our other agency wasn’t what we had initially expected, so I tasked Atta Systems with the entire product development project.
Initially, we had a briefing call to kickstart the project. Since then, Atta Systems has been helping us with UI/UX design and front- and backend development for iOS and Android. The key feature of our app is its audio signal processing capability. It captures patient-generated audio through any smartphone and processes it to generate a diagnosis.
What is the team composition?
Atta Systems provides us with the equivalent of two full-time employees. Their team includes a UX designer, a DevOps manager, and a backend developer.

Although we haven’t launched the app yet, our KPIs of success will be the app’s performance, the quality of the code written by Atta Systems, and the documentation they ultimately provide us with. As for the quality of their services, Atta Systems’ development process has been very smooth. They’ve been extremely proactive at identifying, tracking, and addressing bugs.
How did Atta Systems perform from a project management standpoint?
Thus far, the project has been quite unpredictable because we’ve added requirements on the go. Therefore, the budget and timelines have been flexible. Still, Atta Systems has also been very flexible about this situation.
Additionally, they’ve been transparent regarding how long certain tasks take to complete; they’ve never promised to deliver something and failed. Given that what we’re developing is very new, it’s hard to make an accurate assessment. Thus, Atta Systems has been smart in not committing to certain things to avoid raising expectations.
As for communication, we’ve had a great experience collaborating with Atta Systems. We have a constant stream of communication via Slack, WhatsApp, and email. Their team uses Jira internally for project management, and they provide me with a Google spreadsheet that they keep updating to keep me abreast of the project's progress.

Atta Systems understands the limitations and operating conditions of startups in the healthcare industry, so they’ve been extremely proactive in making suggestions to help us manage the project's operational costs. Overall, working with them has been a very easy process.
Are there any areas they could improve?
Atta Systems’ services are quite expensive from a startup affordability perspective. Still, their prices are very competitive compared to other development agencies focused on creating products for commercial distribution.

Be proactive and strive to co-develop the product. Invite them to the table and keep the conversation going during the development process because they have a lot to contribute to your end product.

The first thing we noticed was their tehnical expertise. After we started working together, we also learned that they have a really high level of empathy for their customers. They did try to understand our struggles and our problems, and they always adapted. They are also great communicators, they encourage their whole team to communicate with us to make the feedback loop shorted during the development cycle. They are fast, they deliver amazing quality.

We overshoot the budget and timeline (also because there was more work than initially expected) so being clear on deliverables and timelines / setting.

We wanted a vendor that can quickly understand our business requirements and translate that into an application. Very important to us was that the vendor did understand the urgency and how critical it was for us to move fast.
