The project involved the creation of a customer testimonial video and secondary corporate photography for hedgehog lab. The primary goal was to showcase a success story from a satisfied customer and capture professional corporate photographs for marketing and promotional purposes. In terms of the key deliverables, Your Film provided professional videography capturing our team as well as the customer interview, along with relevant b-roll footage, and supporting visuals. 

The interviews were a big part of this production and they conducted 4 on-camera interviews with our team and the customer, capturing their testimonial. They also incorporated relevant graphics (on brand), text overlays, and animations to highlight key points during the video. Our team was always on top of the production giving feedback and revisions until the final video was approved. Once the final video was approved, it was provided in multiple formats suitable for various social media platforms as well as some short snippets for promotional purposes.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The final video and all snippets have been praised internally and by the client. The videos were posted across all our social media channels with a high engagement rate of between 5-6% just on Linkedin.

We hired YourFilm twice as part of this project: 

• Specific interview and site visuals for a competition shortlist announcement - we needed to capture four interviews, one school buildings and one student activity videos within one day. There was a tight deadline and a detailed specification and YourFilm delivered this in a calm and professional manor. My team worked on the script and setting up the school activities and YourFilm added professional input for logistics. 
• Event filming - they sourced a drone operator at our request and attended with two members of the YourFilm team to capture an innovation festival event for us. They produced multiple short videos for social as well as a longer highlights-style video.

We kept in touch using their online platform to give feedback and upload our branded assets. The videos we're delivered to a really professional standard to fit the pre-set specification. We carried out research that found that almost half of homeowners didn't realise that there is a solution to boost water pressure in their home. To raise awareness of this and to promote the launch of our new product we wanted to develop a range of videos demonstrating the product and its applications, communicated in an engaging and simple way.

We started with a scoping meeting to give Yourfilm a strong understanding of the project and how we envisaged the footage being gathered and the end result. They then developed a shoot plan for each video which we reviewed and signed off. We then attended the filming and reviewed the films via their really effective review platform. They were happy to receive multiple rounds of feedback and our additional requests.

We worked with a few members of staff, all of whom were really efficient and happy to help.

The videos have been highly praised by colleagues across the business and external stakeholders. We will be posting the videos across our social media channels and expect high engagement.

The dedication to the project thoughout, and understanding the detail of the project in advance of kick off was very impressive.

I would've liked the filming to have been arranged earlier but there were a number of factors that prevented this from happening, including COVID and requests from us that caused delays.

I’m a creative designer for Turnitin, an educational technology company. We’re a software company that deals with universities and colleges to uphold academic integrity and create a fair playing field for students.

What challenge were you trying to address with YourFilm?

We hired YourFilm to create a testimonial video that highlighted one of our products. We wanted to show universities how good this new product is.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

The video featured testimonials from two customers who had been using the product. I planned the narrative of the story, and our team created key questions. Then, Marc (Production Director) and his team helped us decide on locations, the best approach to filming, and so on. YourFilm was involved from the very start of our initial interviews to the end of the project.

Marc directed the video. He interviewed the customers, reviewed the narrative of the story and the scenes, edited the footage together, and added the music.

What is the team composition?

We worked with Marc, and he oversaw two videographers on the day of the customer interviews. We also met with Matthew (Co-Founder).

How did you come to work with YourFilm?

We initially spoke with Marc and Matthew. Their experience put us at ease, and we felt that they were the best fit for the job — they’d produced videos like ours before. 

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve invested £4,000–£6,000 (approximately $5,000–$8,000 USD) with YourFilm.

What is the status of this engagement?

We met with YourFilm’s team in November 2021 and filmed in January 2022.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Our team was in awe of the video. We shared the video with our global team and received amazing feedback — our teammates were blown away by the outstanding quality of the video. Many of them are keen to do more work now, as this was one of the first customer testimonial onsite videos that we had ever produced. Our team is currently preparing a marketing plan to share the video with the public.

How did YourFilm perform from a project management standpoint?

The video’s production was a really good process — they were really good from a project management standpoint. This was a new process for me, and Marc guided me through it. 

Marc went above and beyond on filming day, and he was very adaptable with the schedule. The place where we originally planned to conduct the interviews fell through, but Marc managed to find us an amazing lecture theater location. We had weather warnings on filming day as well, so Marc changed the schedule to do outdoor filming first and then indoor filming later on.

Marc put the customers at ease during the interview, so they were really good on camera. The video only required two rounds of edits, which was amazing.

Their communication was great, and they used whatever method we needed. We communicated with YourFilm via Zoom, phone calls, and some online software for editing the video so that everything was in one place. It was a very lovely, smooth process, and I completely trusted them from the start. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their experience and creativity was impressive. I believe Marc had previous graphic design or design experience, and he’s got a really good creative eye. He and his team went above and beyond on the day of filming to make sure we got everything we needed, which was really good. The guidance they gave us throughout the process was spot-on as well.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I don’t think there’s anything that they could improve on.

Involve Marc and Matthew from the very start of your project, because you’ll want their creative output.

Tyre Spot Limited is North East England’s largest independent tyre wholesaler and retailer, with over 40 years trading experience and offering comprehensive tyre supply solutions for customers with businesses of all types and sizes. From 12 autocentres, Tyre Spot are also able to provide Castrol Servicing, MOTs and more. As Marketing Manager, I am responsible for Tyre Spot's marketing strategy and delivery.

For what projects/services did your company hire YourFilm, and what were your goals?

Together with Lassa, we were looking to run a promotion throughout November and December 2021, offering rewards for purchasing Lassa tyres at Tyre Spot. This is a successful campaign that we have run previously. To build on its success, we decided to create an advert to run on Sky.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

YourFilm have a fantastic reputation in the area and we felt that they would be best to work with. They absolutely exceeded our expectations.

YourFilm worked with us to decide on a script, storyboard and selected voice actors. They also worked with Sky to ensure the finished product met their specifications. Once everything was ready, they spent a day filming with us at one of our autocentres. Despite it being a short ad, they spent a long day with us getting as much footage as possible. The video was finished before deadline, despite us asking for changes, and we were very happy with the end result.

Who did you work with and what was the feedback process like?

We worked with Matthew, Kevin and a few other staff members. We really liked the feedback process - it was very organised and really easy for us to show what we'd like to see edited on the video (YourFilm helpfully created a short tutorial to show us how to use the software for feedback). YourFilm were very easy to work with and were great at explaining what was happening at every step.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Success of the campaign so far has been brilliant - by 6/12, the Sky ad had reached 78k people and we've had great feedback on how professional the ad looks. We're yet to see the final results but we feel the video created for us has really supported our brand image and elevated how people see the brand.

YourFilm were very easy to communicate with - responsive on both phone and email and always tried to meet our requests. If something couldn't be done, it was fully explained why so that we could understand the process better. They were very open to feedback and supportive of our goals.

Their timeliness, professionalism, and responsiveness were brilliant - it's often difficult to find a company who are as organised as they are creative but with YourFilm, we found that.

I worked as a mentor at an FE college tasked with encouraging able students from areas with a low rates of progression onto higher education to understand the value of and ultimately progress into, higher education.

I needed a series of very short animations aimed at those in 16-18 age bracket which explained a number of key issues about progression onto Level 4 (higher education) programs. This included, among other things, information on next steps after Level 3 and employability skills such as interview tips and pointers on how to write a personal statement.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

I selected them as they offered a much better price for the service than a rival company and delivered a better quality of work.

The videos were 1 minute animations of a voice over which detailed the issues of issues of progression and employability that needed to be communicated to the learners. 

We had an initial meeting where we discussed the project. I came back to the company with a breakdown of what it was I was looking to do. They laid out the likely cost and the practicalities of what would need to be done. I provided voice over scripts. They provided visual scripts which I okayed. They auditioned voice over artists and allowed me to select the one who was most suitable for the project.

The got to work on a proof of concept video. I was given the opportunity to feedback on it then okayed it. From there they showed me completed versions of the videos, allowing feedback throughout. They were responsive to feedback but as they were pretty close to or exactly on the mark with each video, there wasn't too much feedback that I needed to give. 

Who did you work with and what was the feedback process like?

I worked with staff across the animation and scripted team. I liaised predominately with Matthew. The feedback process was really clear, simple and effective.

The project has yet to go live with the students but the quality of the videos and the closeness to the vision outlined in the initial meeting is very impressive.

From my point of view, everything went as well as it could have.

I’m the digital marketing specialist for a pharmaceutical company, and we are a special manufacturer in the UK.

What challenge were you trying to address with YourFilm?

We needed a video to promote brand recognition across our pharma group.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

YourFilm provided us with their video production services. One of our team members was actually involved in the video editing process because there was such a high volume of footage — they were on-site to see what was being used and what wasn’t.

We had a shot list for the day which involved going into one of our specialist labs to film someone bottling and packaging some of the medications. They spent longer in the labs proposing new shots and got more people involved. We ended up with a lot more usable footage we hadn’t considered to begin with.

Whenever I needed footage taken to a hard drive, the YourFilm team was more than happy for us to come down and give us a copy without any additional costs. The project was really personal and they were happy to supply us with what we needed.

How did you come to work with YourFilm?

We decided that we wanted to produce a video project, so we went out to tender three businesses. YourFilm seemed to understand the project best, and they were very responsive and involved. We had a lot of suggestions for the project and discussed ideas during the initial brief. When they came back with the price and proposal, it was exactly the specification we were looking for — they really took the time to understand the project.

What is the status of this engagement?

The project ran from April–June 2018.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

We got a lot of positive feedback on the videos, to the extent that we’ll come back and work with them again.

How did YourFilm perform from a project management standpoint?

They performed really positively. YourFilm guided us through the whole process and nothing was too much trouble for them — our team was kept informed. In terms of the budget, we didn’t go over and we couldn’t have asked for more. We only communicated via email.

What did you find most impressive about them?

We were impressed with their personal service. YourFilm was a very small team, but they were very invested in getting the final product right. We got really in-depth and considered the project from their perspective. When they came here, there were a lot of shots that we hadn’t considered, but they were happy to spend more time informing us and they just went above and beyond for us.

Sometimes in businesses, you don’t know what the final outcome is going to be, it’s always good to be reassured and YourFilm did that from the start. We knew exactly what we were going to get from the beginning.

Not that I can think of.

Find a provider that understands you and the project from the start. If you have a vision in mind, they have to share that vision with you so you get the best product in the end.

We are the largest bus company in the North East of England and has been transporting people around the region since 1913. I am the communication and marketing coordinator for the company.

For what projects/services did your company hire YourFilm?

In recent years, we've hire YourFilm for various projects for route and service launches following investments into new vehicles, and more recently they helped us out by filming a video regarding onboard safety features during the coronavirus pandemic.

What were your goals for this project?

For the route and service launches, we wanted to raise awareness and get more people thinking about bus travel by changing perceptions. With the coronavirus safety video, we wanted to assure our customers that our enhanced cleaning methods and onboard measures would allow them to make their essential journeys safely and with confidence.

SOLUTION

How did you select YourFilm?

We were keen to work with a local company, and YourFilm stood out. We'd also heard good things from some of the businesses we work with, so it was a bit of a no brainer to work with them.

Describe the video(s) and the process in detail.

Once we selected YourFilm, we worked closely with them to form ideas. In past years, this has been done in person, but during the pandemic, it was done online and they've been a pleasure to work with. We then provided a more detailed brief off the back of the meetings/discussions, which included everything we wanted their team to capture and detailed descriptions of the shots we'd like. Their team was brilliant and provided additional ideas on top of all of ours that we hadn't even considered, and also moved us across to 'BaseCamp' where every file, message etc was contained so no e-mails or anything like that gets lost.

What was your vendors' project management or feedback process?

It was such an easy process to work with YourFilm. Like I've said, we've worked with them on a number of projects so far and they've always delivered. In the past, a frustration of ours with other providers is the constant back and forth with amends and not capturing what we intended. With YourFilm, this has never been a problem - we ask for any amends we like, and they've always got it right in the next version, and in a timely manner too.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

With the filming of our coronavirus safety video, they've definitely helped improve the confidence of our customers. Throughout the pandemic we've received a lot of praise for some of the things we've done, and this video played a crucial part in informing and reassuring our customers that our buses are clean, safe and comfy.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

YourFilm introduced us to 'BaseCamp', the project management platform. This was a great way to work, with any communication logged in the same place, so there's never no missed e-mails. The files were also provided through this. It was a great way of reducing the amount of e-mails that would be exchanged, and I'd say it definitely improved the turnaround time too.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Firstly, it was seeing the work that they'd done previously. We already knew they'd be able to produce what we wanted after seeing their work, but once we met the people behind the cameras and the rest of the team, our confidence was even higher. The team was so easy to deal with, and always pushed things in the right direction to ensure we got the best outcome possible.

Are there any areas for improvement?

From our perspective, I wouldn't say there is. They've always been a pleasure to work with and they've always delivered on what we wanted - well ahead of any deadlines too.
