BACKGROUND
Please describe your company and your position there.
I'm currently leading the business division of native apps in Mindvalley. Mindvalley is an e-learning platform that focuses on personal growth.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
For what projects/services did your company hire Yodel Mobile, and what were your goals?
We were kickstarting paid user acquisition for the new app and didn't have enough internal expertise and resources to do it ourselves. We engaged Yodel organically (through market research). Our goals were focused on CPA and growth.
SOLUTION
How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?
As mentioned above we sought out vendors organically. We surveyed about 4-5 agencies before deciding to go with Yodel. The team were attentive and we could sense that we would be able to work well together. We originally wanted to only engage Yodel for 6months with the expectation being we would then eventually build our own inhouse team.
Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and marking tools used.
First we had our use cases and goals which were focused on maintaining a low CPA. The onboarding process was seamless whereby we exchanged NDAs before granting all necessary permissions to Yodel's team. We were also assigned an AM and dedicated teams who were always helpful and often times were reaching out to us more than we were to them.
How many resources from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?
We have a dedicated account manager, Rish, who has been stellar in helping us achieve understanding and managing negotiations both internally and externally. Then we also have dedicated teams of at least 2-3 people depending on the project that we work on.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?
The general outcome was successful which is why they managed to retain us as a client despite our initial intent of 6 months. Our UA project was not as successful but we gave them very aggressive targets and were also going through some internal changes. Therefore we don't harp on that as much. Our ASO project on the other hand had been very successful. We've seen weekly growth in visibility and/or keyword ranking of up to +200% which is formidable. The team also actively monitors and informs us of other errors and suggestions that are not ncessarily in their scope.
How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?
We had weekly check-ins when we ran UA. With ASO, we recently decided to change our cadence to biweekly to align with the ASO typical timeline. However the team is always available for us if/when needed. In the mean time we are also actively connected on Slack for any BAU/adhoc items that come up.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
There's something unique about Yodel's team compared to other agencies we've worked with. They are not only skillful and knowledgeable but also genuinely keen to deliver value. This alignment makes us feel like they're just an extended part of our team instead of an external agency.
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
They could bring more competitor insights for us. We focus a lot on our own performance and historical growth but as we innovate, we tend to go down a tunnel vision and could use some unwarranted external feedback from time to time

Thanks to Yodel Mobile’s efforts, the app’s daily install rate has dramatically increased, and the client’s CPA has decreased to a comfortable place. The team is communicative, timely, and very accessible, and they provide timely reports. Their results and interest in the client’s success stand out.

BACKGROUND
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m a manager at a cashback platform. Our users can transact across 5,000 different merchants in various verticals across retail, travel, financial services, etc. We pass the majority of the commission we earn back to the user.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
What challenge were you trying to address with Yodel Mobile?
A big chunk of our business is app-based, and we had paused our app marketing a few years ago. We wanted to relaunch our organic and paid app acquisition. Since we had little to no experience in app marketing, we wanted to find a specialist agency with a good track record to run those campaigns.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
Yodel Mobile provides app marketing for us, including app store optimization (ASO) and paid campaigns. They help us optimize our app stores and conversions from people who land on our pages to registered members. The team also helps us with social media marketing (SMM), running ad campaigns on platforms like Facebook and other social media at varying degrees of investment to promote the app.
The team mainly works in the app stores from Android and iOS to get us to appear in search results for our brand or relevant related searches, such as for cashback apps or apps to save money. Yodel Mobile focuses on ensuring we appear in the right places for the right searches.
First, we went through a contracting and onboarding process and walked through Yodel Mobile’s established workflow and progress. We shared as much research as possible, and they did their own research about our target users and the market opportunities. They looked into the market’s competitiveness, keywords we should use, and gaps in our organic acquisition.
From there, Yodel Mobile delivered an orientation piece and produced creative following our guidelines. We went through a signoff process for the creative. Then they launched the paid campaigns and later our organic activity. We’ve extended the campaigns a few times and are currently doing some retargeting. Additionally, the team has helped us install an attribution tool within the app, which gives us visibility of what users are doing and the campaigns’ success. Yodel Mobile has also given us some feedback within the app regarding data points and how we can improve the process and flow.
What is the team composition?
I’ve met 8–9 teammates from Yodel Mobile, including the owner and founder, who’s been involved since the contract discussions. Our regular team includes a strategic account director, an account manager, and specialists in paid advertising, organic ASO, and creative.
How did you come to work with Yodel Mobile?
I did some research while looking for an app marketing specialist. There are many digital agencies in the UK, but I wanted someone for whom app marketing was their bread and butter, which made our universe relatively small. I saw Yodel Mobile listed on a few sites, saw the awards they’ve won, and their credentials. Their past clients were quite cool and aligned with our industry, so we put them on a shortlist to come in and pitch for us.
We went through a pitch process and reached out to a number of agencies that pitched for us. Yodel Mobile’s team stood out because we liked them as people. Moreover, the credentials were there, and their track record was impressive. We also liked their launching, learning, optimizing, and scaling methodology. They were the stand-out for us, so they were a relatively easy choice.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve spent in excess of £200,000 (approximately $238,000 USD).
What is the status of this engagement?
We met them in April 2022, the campaigns went live in July 2022, and the engagement is ongoing.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Yodel Mobile has been a great partner, and their results have been very impressive. Our most important metric is the volume of app installs we get. We can see where installs are coming from and attribute it to the source. Thanks to Yodel Mobile’s paid and organic work, our daily average of app installs has dramatically increased.
Our second most important metric is the cost per acquisition (CPA), which includes the blended cost of organic and paid activities. Yodel Mobile reports this number every week with the data they provide. The team has gotten our CPA down to a number we’re comfortable with. Although there are other metrics, such as visibility, those two are our focus.
How did Yodel Mobile perform from a project management standpoint?
Their project management is excellent, and they’re very communicative. The data they produce is good and timely. We have a weekly check-in meeting for which they always prepare and circulate an agenda beforehand. During the meetings, we discuss what’s working and what isn’t.
Moreover, we interact with the whole team. I’ve worked with agencies where we only talk to the account manager. With Yodel Mobile, the individuals who manage any given part of the project attend our meetings. We don’t have to go through the account manager to talk to the creative team. Therefore, we can ask questions directly, and they’ve become an extension of our internal team.
Yodel Mobile’s founder and owner has personally reached out to me on a one-to-one basis 3–4 times since we started to check in with me and see if we have any issues. He takes a very active interest, is very personable, and genuinely cares about our success. This approach differs from the leads of other agencies I’ve worked with.
As for tools, our meetings are on Zoom or Microsoft teams, and we also use email. They use Excel to present the data to us.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Yodel Mobile’s results speak for themselves, and they can stand behind what they’ve achieved in terms of install volume and CPA. Overall, it’s been great working with them, and I’m really pleased we decided to engage with them.
Are there any areas they could improve?
No, everything has gone so well with them. If it were another agency, I could deceive difficult moments or bumps in the road, but it hasn’t been that way with Yodel Mobile.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Working with Yodel Mobile is easy, and they’ve delivered the outcome we wanted — I couldn’t be happier. Therefore, my only advice would be to engage them.

Yodel Mobile is charged with driving app engagement and downloads. They accomplish this through various messaging campaigns (text and in-app), as well as app store optimization and gamification.
Displaying stand-out expertise in app acquisition and user engagement, Yodel Mobile is a critical partner. Their frequent communication is a highlight, as is their experience with the entire field of mobile apps, but specifically in healthcare. Future customers can expect a productive partner.
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this
client over the phone. Below is an edited
transcript.
BACKGROUND
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the director of marketing and communications at a patient advocacy organization.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
What challenge were you trying to address with Yodel Mobile?
We launched an app eight months prior to hiring Yodel, and the goal of the app is to help patients and caregivers track their symptoms and triggers. We wanted Yodel to help with new user acquisition and user engagement, focusing more on engagement. The goal was to get users to continue using the app after installation.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
We asked Yodel to identify our main potential users, define their personas, and devise strategies to reach those users. Additionally, they helped us keep those users engaged in the app. Their techniques ranged from did journey communications with in-app messaging and text messaging and email gamification to incentivize users to track regularly.
To start, we shared the business plan with Yodel that we’d put together ahead of launching the app. This included our planning and competitive analysis, as well as details about our larger national audience and the smaller app-specific audience, as those two groups are distinct from one another. There were also some details about our app performance to date.
Currently, Yodel is working on paid app store engagement and app store SEO, as well as creating an engagement video. We’ve also been exploring potential development improvements, like social sharing.
What is the team composition?
We interact with 5–6 people, one of whom is the founder and CEO; they’re very involved and continue to weigh in and provide oversight, which is encouraging. Sometimes executives drop away once their company is hired.
A strategy resource is currently leading the project, along with an administrative support and a day-to-day project manager. There’s also an app store subject matter expert available.
How did you come to work with Yodel Mobile?
They were a recommendation from our developer. After a long search for a firm with specific expertise in app store engagement, we found Yodel.
What is the status of this engagement?
We worked together from June–December 2020, and we’ve just now re-engaged them for another eight months.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
They’re really knowledgeable about app acquisition and engagement across various sectors, including the health sector. This is critical. Their ability to bring in the required expertise was very productive.
How did Yodel Mobile perform from a project management standpoint?
We speak over email and a weekly Zoom call, though sometimes that happens more than once a week.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Their deep knowledge of the mobile app space stands out. Other firms that we were looking at had a broad digital marketing focus, whereas Yodel was specific to mobile apps.
Are there any areas they could improve?
I would have loved to start the implementations right out of the gate. Yodel’s team did a lot of analysis and information gathering, which is awesome, but sometimes a lot of information is hard to deal with. They’ve already started to remedy this, however.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
I recommend them highly and say to start implementation steps sooner.

A home improvement retailer was looking to improve their app's visibility and digital store presence, so they hired Yodel Mobile to utilize their mobile app optimization capabilities.
Since partnering with Yodel Mobile, the company has garnered over 2 million impressions on their product, and improved their revenue stream by 6%. The team is highly collaborative, and the internal stakeholders are particularly impressed with their commitment to the app's long-term success.
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this
client over the phone. Below is an edited
transcript.
BACKGROUND
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the customer experience and design manager for B&Q, UK’s leading home improvement retailer. We have a whole estate of physical shops, as well as a growing e-commerce business.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
What challenge were you trying to address with Yodel Mobile?
We’ve had a mobile app since 2013, but it hasn’t received a lot of attention so it’s been languishing in the app store since its development. It had a couple of fixes and enhancements over the years, but no dedicated effort to promote or look after it.
We then looked to Yodel Mobile to optimize its app store presence, so we can take advantage of its true potential.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
We started the project by discussing strategy on how we’re going to tackle the app store optimization from a purely organic perspective — we wanted to work as a team to really drive organic growth.
We then worked on a program for organic keyword improvement, so we used the metadata within the app store to enhance our ranking and listing. After that, we started utilizing our channels like email, PR, social media, and website to increase our visibility and adoption of the app.
We’re now in a regular rhythm of releasing patches fortnightly into the app store, as well as the reporting of all our executions so we can understand how we can constantly improve.
What is the team composition?
Our two main points of contact are the account manager and a client success manager. We also work with a core team of about six people.
How did you come to work with Yodel Mobile?
We ran an RFP process to find a partner who would help us with app store optimization. Our procurement then found the most recognized vendors in the UK so Yodel Mobile got shortlisted.
Coincidentally, I talked to my colleague who told me about his great experience working with them, so we ended up choosing Yodel Mobile for the project.
How much have you invested with them?
So far, we’ve spent around £70,000 (approximately $94,100 USD).
What is the status of this engagement?
Our partnership started in July 2021, but we’ve extended our contract because we’re planning to run this project through all of next year.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
There are four key metrics that we measure the quality of work on, and those are visibility, number of downloads, revenue, and conversion rate. So far, we’ve doubled the number of impressions we’ve been getting for the app and have garnered over 2 million impressions over the same time period.
Apart from that, we’ve also increased our downloads to 33%, revenue participation to 6%, and conversion rate to 2.3%.
How did Yodel Mobile perform from a project management standpoint?
Their project management is brilliant, and we’re very delighted with how they run the project. Yodel Mobile has high-quality communications and we have a really strong relationship with everyone that we work with — they’re very collaborative and they’re always willing to reach out and help us.
We mostly interact through Microsoft Teams and email.
What did you find most impressive about them?
We’re impressed with their commitment and ambition to our account. They feel bespoke and niche as an agency, and they’re running their small-medium enterprise as a large firm so even though they’re very busy, we’re still receiving top-notch support.
Apart from that, they’re very cost-efficient. Given that we’re not spending a lot of money with them, we’re still getting brilliant levels of service, and they don’t make us feel less as a client compared to the ones who are spending significantly more than us.
Are there any areas they could improve?
Initially, they didn’t really have the experience working with a large corporate firm like ours, but they’ve definitely adapted to our business and have seen some significant improvements. They just need more practice to get better, because I think they can work with more big firms in the future.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
My advice would be to listen to what they have to share, because they have a wealth of knowledge about app store optimization — they’re the absolute subject matter experts in their field, and I’ve personally learned so much this year as a result of working with them.

BACKGROUND
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the director of Splink Industries. We’re a business development startup that operates a mobile app.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
What challenge were you trying to address with Yodel Mobile?
Because we’re a startup, we needed a lot of help and guidance in terms of app store optimization (ASO) and digital marketing in general. We identified Yodel Mobile as a partner that could help us on both fronts.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
We work with Yodel Mobile to promote our app. Prior to our app’s iOS launch in July 2020, they helped us design our marketing approach, supporting the creative side on how the app would appear in the App Store. Then, they created promotional assets such as images and videos. We tackled the same set of challenges for the subsequent Android launch in October 2020.
Currently, they’re helping us complete market research and analyze our principal competition. The team has delivered some excellent data analysis on what our competition is doing, and how we can best compete with them.
What is the team composition?
We work directly with three main contacts, including a project manager, head marketer, and an ASO specialist. It’s very much a collaborative relationship.
How did you come to work with Yodel Mobile?
We’d talked to 3–4 ASO-focused companies. It was clear that all of them could do the ASO part of what we needed, but we were really looking for a team with a broader approach. That is to say, we wanted someone who could help us with more general marketing tasks and advise us on our creative. Yodel Mobile stood out because they had expertise in both.
How much have you invested with them?
It’s going on £100,000 (approximately $133,300 USD).
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working with them in February 2020, and the engagement is ongoing.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We’re getting toward our sales targets, though it’s taking us somewhat longer than we’ve hoped to see.
Besides that, users have received our app well. It constantly ranks in the top five educational apps in the App Store, and we’ve had two features from Apple as the app of the day. Both versions earned over 2,000 ratings within months of launch, averaging at 4.9 stars. That’s a higher rating than any of our competition’s.
How did Yodel Mobile perform from a project management standpoint?
We couldn’t have launched the app without their support. It’s been an entirely collaborative process throughout, we’ve worked on all aspects of our app marketing together.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Not only are they willing to take on a broad, collaborative approach, but they’re also experts in all areas of app marketing. They understand how to promote our solution from a technical, data-driven point of view while still keeping the creative in mind. That’s quite a rare combination.
Are there any areas they could improve?
No, they’ve been partners with us as we’ve gone through our whole project and will continue to do so. We’re extremely pleased with the public and user engagement our apps have earned, too.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Don’t regard them as just an ASO company. Rather, think of them as a partner in all aspects of your marketing planning because they have a broad range of knowledge. You should talk to them about all aspects of your promotional strategy.

BACKGROUND
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the CEO of Afin Technologies. We’re in the discount offers and promotions industry. Essentially, we’re a consumer and merchant paid business model depending on the platform.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
What challenge were you trying to address with Yodel Mobile?
Our new mobile app is a fresh look at the way that mobile discount offers work. We were launching our mobile app, Buxbo, and engaged Yodel Mobile to do a fit for the market assessment.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
Once my vision was turned into mobile, Yodel helped us to tweak the platform. Their team managed the initial market testing and then helped to roll out the app with the goal of getting the first few hundred thousand users registered. We put Leanplum inside the app. In terms of the advertising, they used Adperio and another platform that we weren’t using.
Buxbo solved for the five traditional issues that merchants face when signing up for programs, not just entertainment. Those traditional issues were transparency of price and longevity of offers. Users know who they’re advertising to with Buxbo. Also, merchants can put as many offers out there as they like. If it’s too popular, they can nuke the offers too. It democratizes the offer landscape, so local shops pay the same price as national chains while benefiting from the same exposure.
What is the team composition?
We worked with anywhere between 6–12 people on any given week depending on the task.
How did you come to work with Yodel Mobile?
Knowing that we were going to launch this app, we reviewed people in the digital marketing and app agency spaces. It was a competitive pitch, and Yodel Mobile won it.
How much have you invested with them?
We spent $1.124 million on their services.
What is the status of this engagement?
We worked with them from February 2019 until March 2020. Due to the successful conclusion of the initial phase, we closed the relationship for now.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
I estimate around 380,000 installs leading to around 193,000 active players right now. Cost per install’s roughly $2.83. The cost per new player registration was $5.83. They were robust and provided us with customized analytics. Their team was excellent at competitive research. They were constantly looking at our competitors and whether any features of competitors were copying from our app. They let us know how we fit in terms of where our competitors were moving. I’d work with their team again.
How did Yodel Mobile perform from a project management standpoint?
We used Slack to communicate. Our team and their team worked together. Their team put together weekly reports and had regular meetings with our team. They talked us through where they felt the money could be better spent and where they felt that we could change the UI/UX.
When we started, we didn’t have a digital marketing team of our own. We were wholly reliant on Yodel Mobile. They were essentially our internal team but knew that our end game was to build our own team. Even as we were building out a team, they were collaborative. There was a smooth transition in the end.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They were skilled and open about challenges but also came to us with solutions. Their team was on the ball, watching everything intently to look for the best use of our capital. They assumed that the capital that we were deploying was their capital, and I appreciated that.
Are there any areas they could improve?
No, we were happy with them. It would be great if they had a bigger operation in the US.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Be clear about what you’re trying to achieve. Be ready to listen because they’ve got a lot of good experience and have good inputs.

BACKGROUND
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the CEO of Moovshack, a real estate tech startup.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
What challenge were you trying to address with Yodel Mobile?
We’d never launched a mobile app before. We wanted to build a platform across mobile and desktop for both B2C and B2B. We needed somebody to help us maximize the chance of success and offer us good, quality advice for the best possible investment.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
Yodel Mobile gave us recommendations on what tech we should integrate, including Branch.io and Mixpanel. They developed the mobile app for iOS and Android for our consumers. Our agents use the iOS and web app. We combined our technologies with the ones they recommended to track users’ points of engagement with our digital ads and then through the user journey. They’ve written all of our copy and optimized our keywords.
What is the team composition?
We’ve engaged with at least six people. This includes Mick (Founder & CEO), who keeps in regular contact with us.
How did you come to work with Yodel Mobile?
I did a Google search. I knew I needed the best possible expertise to give us the greatest shot at success. I found a couple of big names. I just liked the look and feel of Yodel Mobile. You never know until you get into a relationship with a partner whether their marketing stacks up with reality. We didn’t know what to expect, but we assumed they’d be good. They turned out to be much better than we could have hoped. They have excellent reach and experience in our sector and related sectors. They have worked with very high-profile brands.
How much have you invested with them?
My company has spent $100,000–$120,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working together in November 2019, and it’s ongoing.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Our key deliverables are downloads and engagement. Initially, our launch is going to be soft. Since we built so much interactive tech into our platform and packed it with tools, we want to test the whole platform and focus on tools that are going to be early revenue generators. If all goes well, I can’t see us ever not working with them. We’ve been impressed with them from day one. They’re always exceeding our expectations, and we’re extremely impressed with them as a company.
How did Yodel Mobile perform from a project management standpoint?
Project management is very good. They work well together as a team and are responsive to any criticism. There are times when they get ahead of us because of all of the other challenges that we face; we can’t keep up with the level of data coming at us. We have had no issues at all working with them as a team. They have great communication and customer skills.
I’m an experienced businessman involved in many startups and corporates. Everything starts from the top down, and Mick exemplifies what a great business leader is all about. He’s very personable. He knows his subject matter and handles customers extremely well. He treats even the smallest, newest customer, like us, the way he’d treat his biggest customer. You never feel you’re not significant enough. They have been fantastic and by far the best partner we’ve had.
What did you find most impressive about them?
The good thing about them is that they advise us on what to integrate and what the best setups are for optimum results. They go deep into consultancy. What has struck us is the amount of knowledge that they have and how well structured it is. We don’t just get bits of piecemeal advice; we get proper documents. For example, they did a UI/UX analysis of our product and came back with a 30-page report that had observations about where we sat relative to the market and other apps. They gave us ideas for how we could improve in certain areas. It was a proper reference document that we could also use for best practices because they listed every last detail in mobile app development that we needed to be aware of to optimize our product offering for the marketplace.
Yodel Mobile leaves no stone unturned. The information that they give us is laser-focused. They have the best setups with mobile CRMs that we’re working with them on through to the UI/UX analysis. They do everything, which makes us feel like there’s nothing else they could do. They’ve done a thorough job in every avenue. I don’t have to worry at all if I’m getting value for money, and I can’t say that about any of our other suppliers.
Are there any areas they could improve?
Since they’re so experienced in launching mobile apps, they have a very structured approach to it. This is very helpful, but they sometimes get ahead of us. We’ve got a whole lot of challenges, and it’s occasionally difficult to keep pace with them. There’s nothing really negative at all that I can point to other than adapting to our pace a bit better.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Know what it is that you want to achieve and communicate this clearly to them. As long as you make it clear, they will come back to you with the best possible plan to help you to get there. We have no regrets choosing them. There will be cheaper companies out there, but you won’t find this level of ability to work with new startups who need the best possible results.
