I’m the head of product at Primary Diagnostics. We’re a digital health platform for tracking, testing, and immunization.

What challenge were you trying to address with Wolfpack Digital?

We were trying to launch our first consumer mobile app. The engagement was a detailed view of what we wanted to do with the consumer app. Wolfpack proposed a couple of changes based on their knowledge of Android and OS development.

What was the scope of their involvement?

They built the app using React Native for Android and iOS. They were building a standard Android app and a standard iOS app with some web views baked in that we wanted for our backend.

The purpose of the app was to create a user management system for people who wanted to record their test results and vaccination status over the course of weeks and months. It’s a simple interface for people to log new tests or view their results.

What is the team composition?

They assigned a project manager that we mostly worked with, and then there was an Android engineer, an iOS engineer, and a designer. It was a pretty slim team.

How did you come to work with Wolfpack Digital?

We found them through a Google search. After sending them a slide deck of our initial scope, they called us back and we hammered out a contract with a few estimates.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent from around $20,000–$50,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We’ve been working together since January 2022.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

They delivered the full product to us by their initially stated deadline of April. 95%-100% of the time, they hit the scope and the timelines we agreed to. That’s the biggest success metric. We’re in the beta phase right now with a small group of testers.

If there are any bugs or crashes, they’re fixed within one business day of us submitting the feedback. They also let us know if they see any frontend issues.

How did Wolfpack Digital perform from a project management standpoint?

We met once a week to align on requirements and then handled everything else asynchronously. Slack helped with communication, as did Figma.

Communication is a bit harder than normal, as we’re in different time zones, but they’re very prompt in following up. They do all the project management internally, so we don’t handle any of it.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They’re super flexible and have molded to our work, rather than trying to force us into some sort of template.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Early on, when we were proposing doing a lot of things on Slack, they were worried that we wouldn’t have enough audit trails for when things got approved or they didn’t. Once we got into a rhythm, however, they responded to everything over Slack.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

They have a lot of talented people on the team, so sometimes ask them to redesign what you have, rather than simply implementing what you provide them with. Those are two very different types of projects and can lead to very different outcomes.

Overall, they are professional and have constant training. They have been very flexible with our time and meeting requests. Dev is very open up and easy to communicate and always willing to solve the problem.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

• Mentality, quality & communication Mentality: They are always excited about the project and trying to improve, they often suggest which solution/tech is best for the problem and are able to handle pressure
• Quality: They go through the products from beginning till the end a couple of times with us to ensure it is what we are looking for so we don't end up with a surprise
• Communication: Everything about the product can be discussed and let us know if any potential issues will happen or any questions they have. There is a very minimal argument about cost and problems.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

We improves bit by bits as we are seeking long term relationship, we look into all area for improvement in our retro, from process to code pattern.

I’m the co-owner of ShirtPoP, a custom screen printing and embroidery shop based in Albuquerque, New Mexico. We screen print textiles, apparel, and decoration articles for brands, businesses, and organizations.

What challenge were you trying to address with Wolfpack Digital?

We needed help with custom software development. Before engaging with Wolfpack Digital, we worked with a much smaller team, but they weren’t doing a good job handling and executing the project on time and budget; all the things that could go wrong were going wrong. Thus, we decided to end our engagement with that company, and we started looking for another partner.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Wolfpack Digital took the web app previously developed by the other company and made it functional. The product we had before wasn’t usable at all, so they started updating and revamping it entirely, from rewriting the codebase to redesigning the UI/UX wireframes. The project has also involved Ruby on Rails development.

Given that we custom-print textiles, this app helps our users upload their artwork, select the colors, and choose from our various garments to print on. We have a variety of custom printing options with different pricing. Thus, Wolfpack Digital implemented different pricing matrices and redesigned the UI/UX to make users feel that the customizing process was more an art than a technical experience.

What is the team composition?

We work with five people from Wolfpack Digital: an account manager, a project manager, a frontend developer, a backend developer, and a dedicated QA tester who will be testing if the UX is what the developers thought it would be. Additionally, they have different teams with various expertise levels, so they can consult with each other whenever they need help with an issue outside their scope. For example, we had an issue with the Amazon server, but the development team reached out to another team, and they answered immediately, helping us with the implementation.

How did you come to work with Wolfpack Digital?

When we decided to change vendors, we interviewed around 10–12 different companies that we found on Clutch, among which Wolfpack Digital was. The interview with them went really well, and Gabriel did a good job explaining their organization and how they would onboard our project. All the information they gave us made a huge difference when choosing them, especially after our previous bad experience with custom software development.

What is the status of this engagement?

We first contacted Wolfpack Digital in November 2021, and our engagement is ongoing. They’ll continue doing maintenance and testing for us.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Wolfpack Digital has made all our app’s pieces and features work together, creating a functional app. For example, we have a certain sequence for placing an order before passing it to our production team. Before working with them, we couldn’t figure out how to create that sequence within an app. However, they asked us a lot of questions to understand our process, and they figured out a way to do it within weeks. Additionally, they made us think of questions we hadn’t thought of before. Overall, we’re very satisfied with their work; they’ve exceeded our expectations.

How did Wolfpack Digital perform from a project management standpoint?

Wolfpack Digital has performed very well, and they always deliver on time and budget. They’re also very organized and professional. For example, they have solutions so that we can look at the time they spend working on our project.

We have a Zoom meeting at least once per week. They also document everything and send us demos of the product, loom videos, and other assets via email.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Wolfpack Digital’s communication and Scrum project management are impressive. I’m sure all development companies can write code, probably at different levels of expertise. However, very few have the ability to keep track of the project and understand its current state.

Overall, Wolfpack Digital is an excellent shop — I would rate them 5/5 stars. Our project manager is very good at her job. She’s always coming up with solutions, and she’s constantly engaged in our project. Additionally, she has taken part in the QA testing process.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, they’ve done a very good job.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Wolfpack Digital moves as fast as you can move, so be prepared to work hard and be engaged throughout the process. If they ask you for anything, try to get it to them quickly because if you slow down, the project will too.

We needed their help in building our reading and streaming application.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Wolfpack Digital initially helped our team visualize our product and devise a development plan. We collaborated with their team to create a platform that allowed users to read eBooks and stream audiobooks, with our design team focusing on UI/UX. One of the core functionalities they incorporated was a payment channel that processed subscriptions for users who wanted unlimited access to our offerings.

Additionally, we had to ensure that the app was securely coded and protected from piracy before its go-live. Upon building the app, Wolfpack Digital helped us conduct QA testings to guarantee its robustness.

What is the team composition?

The team size varied depending on the project phase, but we worked with 13 resources during the peak of the development process. The team was comprised of four front- and backend developers, four Android- and iOS developers, one QA, one product owner, and a scrum master.

I found Wolfpack Digital on Clutch, which seemed to be the perfect place to go for our outsourcing needs. We needed to find a local agency with a reliable track record and skill set, and Wolfpack Digital met all our qualifications.

The development project ran from March–November 2021. We just launched our product a few days ago.

Wolfpack Digital helped us deliver the app that we wanted to share with our market — our official launch took place two days ago, and we were able to secure over 1,500 downloads within that time frame, with 500 of those in trial period and over 50 users paying our subscription fee. 

How did Wolfpack Digital perform from a project management standpoint?

We mainly communicated via Slack and relied on Jira for project management. Wolfpack Digital had dedicated and disciplined team members who proactively helped us meet our complex goals on time. While we wanted to launch sooner because of our ambitious deadlines, their team did their part in ensuring that each phase was executed quickly and seamlessly — any delays we encountered during the process were from our end.

What did you find most impressive about them?

What stood out about Wolfpack Digital was their evident UX expertise and thorough understanding of our needs, which were mirrored in the deliverables they produced for our users. They weren't just developers, but they were skilled designers who executed UX solutions that made both our staff and users feel at ease.

From a startup's perspective, we would've benefitted more from more adaptable and well-communicated methods from Wolfpack Digital's team.

We’re creating a custom app for a healthcare technology client.

What was the scope of their involvement?

We hired Wolfpack to create a proof of concept (POC) that replaces an old-fashioned way of medical device training. The app used AR on iOS to give people an alternative way to train without using old, expensive, and clunky equipment. Instead, trainees could use an iPhone for their training.

We worked with their co-founder, their CMO, a project owner, a lead iOS developer, and a UI/UX designer.

Wolfpack was referred to us. We decided to work with them because they were honest and very strong communicators. 

They had a high quality of work, testing, and QA, whereas many other firms didn’t prioritize those things. We felt they aimed for perfection, which was exactly what we needed and what our clients expected of us.

Our engagement lasted from October 2020–March 2021.

The app did what it was supposed to do, and its AR function worked perfectly. Our client was happy with their work, and they were comfortable presenting the app with their senior leadership. The project was successful in every way possible.

Their communication skills were impressive. They also set realistic expectations, which they ended up exceeding.

Be as thorough and clear on the initial project scope as soon as possible. Software development takes some time to make sure that all features are properly prioritized and planned for. As long as your instructions are clear, Wolfpack will hit your goals without any problem.

Women in Tech Cluj is a non-profit organization who promotes and supports women professionals in tech through monthly meetups and events organized for the community. I am one of the cofounders of the organization.

We absolutely needed a website. We had a couple of requests:

1. have a bold design
2. have a design inline with our current visual identity
3. have an easy to navigate site

How did you select Wolfpack Digital and what were the deciding factors?

We basically had a shortlist of potential companies to work with. We evaluated each one of them based on their online presence, portfolio experience, working style and how they talk about it on social media. Wolfpack Digital stood out in that analysis due to their experience and constant presence on social media.

We approached them and briefly explained what we need. Even though time was on our side, discussions went pretty fast from needs assessment to an actual offer. We liked it and took the opportunity.

We first gave them a set of expectations, both regarding the design, but also working style. Of course, during this step we shared our current visual identity, which was already a very good base to start building on. From there on, we had a couple of iterations regarding the sections of the website, the order, the menu, etc.

Our part of work consisted on the content, where we dragged it a bit (our own fault, but as mentioned, time was our ally). We received feedback and suggestions on that part as well from the WD team — much appreciated!

The workflow was pretty good, as mentioned, *we* were the slow ones in this story — but we got gentle pushes to get our project see the light, which eventually helped!

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

We liked that they listened to our (not always filtered) ideas and wishes. Despite the fact that they advised us against some ideas, they have tried to implement "our way" a couple of times, even though it eventually proved as not being the best idea.

They still helped us to visually see it first and then make a decision. We appreciate they were empathetic and put the client in the centre of their work. Also, it felt like a cooperation with both parties wanting to make something good. That is a very nice feeling that you rarely get when working with clients.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

There is always room for improvement, isn't it?! It would have probably saved us some time if they had copywriting services too. We would have gladly payed for that service as we struggled a bit with it. But this of course, does not change our overall very positive experience :D

We needed a updated version of our organizational website, which was outdated and build on an old Wordpress theme that no longer had support and was painful to maintain and update.

We wanted a fresh, more attractive and actual version of our online presence and wanted a new solution for our organization's presentation website. We wanted to be more visible, offer better structured information related to our work and provide a allow new members registration via our website.

SOLUTION

How did you select Wolfpack Digital and what were the deciding factors?

We've selected Wolfpack Digital upon presenting the need to refresh our online presence among our member organization. They've presented an attractive offer and way of collaboration, which we found that best suited with our plan.

Upon reaching an agreement on our collaboration, we were taken over by Cristi Virciu one of the agency's senior UX/UI designers in order to understand our specific needs. We've developed together the website specifications, we were then presented several themes that best addressed our need using Wix.

We were presented then with a proposed designed, we've agreed on the types of sections we wanted in our website and then iteratively started the development process. We had weekly or every other week meetings, depending on the stage of development, in order to provide feedback on the progress.

By the time the structure was developed, we've prepared the content, which was also added into the website by Wolfpack. We've tested all functionalities and had the go-live.

We've had the agency's CEO responsible for the high-level discussions and a senior UX/UI designer in charge of the entire development process.

Analytics wasn't setup properly in our old website, but the user engagement and the number of visits on our new site has definitely increased.

We've used weekly or bi-monthly online progress meetings and communication over email. For the complexity of our project, we were very satisfied with the setup that we used.

A friend had meet one of the owners of WD at a summit, and suggested that I contacted him. We had a call, and I immediately felt like he was a straight up guy. Looking at their website and previous cases convinced me to go with them.

We had a meeting to discuss what we wanted, and our vision. From there we were sent a template of user stories, to fill out, to show them what functions we would like available.

Hereafter, they developed the wireframes, and we had a meeting where they were presented. We only had a couple of alterations.

We had the peber, Adrian, and a senior and junior front end developer work on it.

I’m the head of technology at a logistics provider, in charge of technology procurement and requirements setting. We’re a logistics delivery carrier with an ecologically-sensitive approach, in that we use electric vehicles. The company is Irish, and I’m based in the UK.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Wolfpack Digital?

As a startup, we wanted to go for modern technology rather than the old-school solutions used by carriers today. One of those was, of course, moving o ecologically-sound vehicles. Wolfpack Digital helped us develop a solution for our customers sending and receiving parcels, as well as one for our internal operations staff. They’re developing a solution that helps us with parcel sorting and tracking and tracing.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Wolfpack Digital developed a user web portal and Android and iOS apps, along with a combined app for our different types of operations staff, which is Android only.

We put forward a very high-level PowerPoint document to start from, describing some of the steps a user would go through in order to deliver a parcel, along with functionalities for our agents. Using an agile methodology, they went through an iterative process to get to more and more detail.

What is the team composition?

I’m primarily dealing with their product owner and manager, QA person, and chief architect. I meet with them weekly, and I’ve dealt with many of the developers as well.

How did you come to work with Wolfpack Digital?

The initial selection was done by my predecessor. I believe he’d dealt with Wolfpack Digital before. They had pretty good references, and we saw some examples of their previous work. I think there was also a recommendation, but I can’t say for sure.

How much have you invested with them?

The cost is in the multiple hundreds of thousands of euros.

What is the status of this engagement?

I’ve been working with them for the past few months. I was brought onboard at the point when the demo version was completed. Wolfpack put in a lot of extra work to hit some deadlines and allow us to show it to investors. We’ve been using the demo version since April 2020.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The demo version they’ve completed is actually the app set we’ll actually use, and we just need to take it further in terms of features. We could call it an MVP. It’s been used both to take to investors, so there’s been a big impact there in getting interest and getting funding. We’ve also used it in shopping for potential partners. As a delivery business, we need to work with retailers.

How did Wolfpack Digital perform from a project management standpoint?

There’s a lot of good work being done on their side, and I’m very happy with my main contact. He’s not exclusively dealing with us, but the majority of his time is dedicated to our project. They’re very good organizationally and in terms of understanding what additional work needs to be done. They’re proactive in organizing events for their team to understand our business, getting into what happens when a parcel arrives at our warehouse and how it gets moved about. They’re proactive in terms of technology suggestions and proposals for improvements, down to power usage in phones. Change requests and control have been working very well for us.

We’ve talked about using Slack, but my company is using Teams at the moment. We have regular meetings with them over Skype, and we speak to them daily.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I’ve mentioned their proactivity, and I would add flexibility to that. Our early stages as a startup have been very up and down in terms of the amount of work we might request them for, so Wolfpack Digital has had to expand and contract the team with not much notice, and they’ve done this very well. They’ve also been good in terms of change control and delivery quality.

Are there any areas they could improve?

We’re always talking about what we could improve together, and that’s been good. It’s a back and forth process, and one thing we’ve concentrated on is being clearer with requirements on our side, and Wolfpack being more prone to feedback when we’re not giving them enough or accurate-enough information.

Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?

We need to go to any company with a good understanding of what we need to do. We didn’t have a lot of documentation for Wolfpack Digital initially, but they worked with it very well. My advice would be to be open to their advice and for the client to really plug in their processes to the agile development ones used by Wolfpack Digital.
