We partnered with the V1A team to concept, direct, film, and produce a high-impact sizzle video for our marketing site. The goal was to create a polished, visually compelling asset that effectively showcases our platform’s value to prospective customers.

The scope of work included:

Creative Development: V1A collaborated with our team to define the video’s core message, visual direction, and tone. This included script development, storyboarding, and outlining key scenes to highlight our product’s differentiators.
On-Location Production: The V1A team led a full-day video shoot, capturing high-resolution footage of our team, product, and office environment to bring the narrative to life.

What impressed us most about V1A was their ability to maintain creativity while expertly managing all the logistics involved in producing a branded video. They not only streamlined the process for me but also brought our venue to life through their exceptional work.

V1A’s project management was exceptional, with consistent check-ins and updates throughout the entire process. They took charge of hiring the talent for the shoot, which involved some back-and-forth as we worked to find the perfect fit. I am the Senior Content Marketing Manager at a mission-driven benefits brokerage.

For what projects/services did your company hire Vision One Agency, and what were your goals?

We hired Vision One to produce a ~45 sec video to promote the launch of our new product. Our goals for this video were to demonstrate our understanding of the problems in the benefits buying process, build trust with the HR leader audience, and drive traffic to the product. We also wanted the video to stand out in an oversaturated market with a creative, deeply human angle.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

I was referred to V1A from one of my colleagues, who used to work with them earlier in his career. Ultimately I decided to work with them because not only were they the most responsive and well-prepared vendor I interviewed, they were also very kind and seemed great to work with. Their impressive animation reel also helped seal the deal as well.

Describe the video(s) and the process in detail, including the project steps and all stages of production.

This project had a limited timeline -- with the project timeline starting in January and a goal to launch on March 15. First, we coordinated a couple meetings where the V1A team could meet the our team, learn more about our brand and culture, and get to know the product and its audience. Then I worked with V1A to produce a script. They took lead on the draft development, and then our team shared a few rounds of feedback.

They were patient and helpful to make sure we were satisfied (and excited) with the script. Then they got to work on design and animation, ensuring that they communicated freely and often so we were in the loop. Our team was also able to select a voiceover actor, and then I sat in on the recording to give direction.

I really felt like part of the team, and that my vision for the project was a priority. They completed the animation in a very timely and professional manner, and everyone on my team was very happy with the results.

Who did you work with and what was the feedback process like?

I worked with several people on the team, but most notably Will, Layla, and John. Opportunities for feedback were woven throughout the process. I felt like my feedback was recognized, heard, and thoughtfully impacted the product.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

At the outset of this project, we aimed to drive ~1000 views of the video within the first two weeks that it was published. However, we reached (and exceeded!) this goal within 24 hours! We also had numerous shares from clients and partners on social media, and received compliments on the video from several stakeholders.

We touched base via email or phone regularly -- often daily. I always felt kept in the loop. I was especially impressed with how responsive Will was -- there were several times when I would call or text him without notice, and he answered right away.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Not only was the final product incredibly polished, but the script was very thoughtful and reflective of our priorities. But most of all, the team was very kind, thoughtful, receptive to feedback, and generally fun to work with.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

At one point, there was some confusion about the length of the video. We had communicated that we wanted the video to be no longer than 90 seconds, but it ended up closer to 1:45 through the editing process. However, once we raised these concerns, Will addressed them thoughtfully.

I’m the national retail training director for a cannabis company.

What challenge were you trying to address with Vision One? 

We wanted to train a large volume of new employees, as well as existing employees, on best practices with customer service and overall company information. Vision One helped us develop training video content for this effort.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We produced three training videos with Vision One, as well as one social media video. Throughout each of the videos, there were multiple days — and up to multiple weeks — of calls, where Vision One helped with script creation and crafting the overall flow of the content to ensure it landed well regarding instructional design. They also organized the on-screen talent, providing us with a list of options to choose from with written and video biographies of talent to ensure the video portrayed exactly what we wanted.

During the actual video shoots, Vision One sourced all needed roles: lighting, grips, makeup, and COVID-officers, who mandated temperature checks, handwashing, and sanitization. After the videos were shot, they took a few short weeks to edit the footage.

The owners and employees of Vision One did a great job showing us the different stages of the editing process, asking for feedback, and helping to implement suggested edits that would ensure the video would be to our liking on the delivery day they promised.

What is the team composition?

I worked with an average of 10 people on each video, including a director, producer, cinematographer, assistant camera operator, digital imaging technician, production sound resource, gaffer, grip specialist, hair and makeup artist, production assistant, and a COVID officer.

How did you come to work with Vision One?

I was not a part of the selection process, but based on their body of work and team make up, they were the best choice.

How much have you invested with them?

We spent around $50,000 with them.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked together from October–November 2020. We hope to continue to use them for all future considerations.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Vision One was extremely professional. During the video shoots, there’s been both paid talent — people with acting or stage performance backgrounds who are used to being on-camera — as well as in-house employees. Will (Founder) and his colleagues’ ability to make people comfortable and feel good about what they’re doing on camera is unbelievable.

It’s my understanding that Vision One has never worked with anyone in the cannabis industry before us, and our industry can be overwhelming, intimidating, tricky, and complex. Their ability to connect with our team to create these videos with the appropriate complexity of vision we were looking for was extremely impressive. Some of our terminology can be tongue-twisting, as well as subjected to lots of regulation and compliance, which doesn’t make for a cookie-cutter script. Vision One caught onto those complexities very well.                

How did Vision One perform from a project management standpoint?

Every single project we’ve worked with them on was delivered either on time or ahead of schedule based on the agreed-upon dates, whether that be for scripts, content, talent selection, or shoot dates. Not a single shoot date had to be altered; Vision one made all of them. They were timely in showing up and leaving. Drafts of videos were always on time as well, including final products.

These projects were all managed by me and four other employees on our side. There was no need for a project manager from Vision One because of their effective communication and organization. Often, we had conference calls with the whole group where we had PowerPoints or suggested scripts that pointed to the vision we had.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Vision One’s offerings are competitively priced. Additionally, their team relates to and connects with their clients well. They’re very human, and they have great experience in all types of video creation, as well as an openness to working with everyone. “Bedside manner” doesn’t quite translate to what we’re doing, but they have wonderful relationship-building competencies.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I can’t think of anything. The complexities of our industry and our required product are two factors that not a lot of other vendors could handle well, if at all. Vision One was unbelievable. They caught on to our vision and maximized it, which is beyond what anyone else could have done.

Enjoy it. Vision One is worth the time and money.
