What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Vessel Advisors delivered cleaner and more accurate financials and a financial model to project revenues and expenses. We saw increased forecasting accuracy, financial growth, and the ability to make better strategic decisions. We experienced double-digit month-over-month growth since our engagement.

We needed to assess our current financial health and situation and provide recommendations to improve.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Vessel Advisors did a deep dive into our internal financial management. They created a heat map of our organization with about 25 various recommendations to improve to save money, increase revenue, and improve efficiency.
The heat map identified what areas to improve, the ROI, and put them in order of importance and/or how easy it would be to execute on that recommendation. For example, thanks to Vessel Advisors, we’re saving over $25,000 per year in credit card processing fees. They also helped us transition to ACH payments and a credit card billing policy.

Prior to working with Vessel, we had a healthy business, but our growth was severely constrained by access to capital. We could only fund a portion of the cases we wanted to purchase, and we assumed that was just the way it had to be. We were hesitant to hire Vessel at first because we’d been rejected for outside capital before; we worried this would be another disappointment that wasn't worth the time and effort. We were completely wrong. Vessel knows exactly what to do. They broke down why we couldn't secure financing in the past, designed a plan to fix those issues, and executed it. Not only did they help us secure low-cost bank financing for our cases—reducing our cost of capital to a fraction of what it was—but the financing package was twice the size we thought possible. Now, our team follows financial best practices, the bank is happy, and as an owner, I finally have the freedom to say 'yes' to more qualified deals.

We were able to finally secure financing with terms that best fit our comfort level.  This couldn't have been achieved unless we had Vessel make the necessary changes needed to obtain and secure the loan.

Brennan has effectively served as our fractional CFO and a member of our leadership team.

Vessel helps us review financial performance, forecasting, cash flow, WIP and job costing, banking and credit, budgeting, and larger strategic decisions. Brennan has also been heavily involved in developing our internal finance team and helping us build processes that can support the company as it grows.

The biggest value is probably difficult to put into a single deliverable. They have helped us move from looking at the business project-to-project or month-to-month toward thinking several moves ahead.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Our financial visibility and discipline are substantially better today.

We have much better forecasting, more confidence in our WIP and job-level financial information, stronger cash planning, and a more structured rhythm around reviewing performance and making decisions.

More importantly, Brennan has helped us navigate both growth and difficult periods in the business. We identify issues sooner, understand what is driving them, and can make decisions based on the numbers rather than instinct alone.

Very strong. They are responsive, prepared and proactive. We have maintained a regular operating cadence for years, and they have become someone I rely on not only to answer questions, but to challenge my thinking and hold our team accountable. 

They don't wait for us to tell them what the problem is. They are usually helping us identify it.

Their ability to become genuinely embedded in the business.

Vessel doesn't feel like an outside consultant looking at our company through a spreadsheet. They understand our business, our people, our industry and how I think as an owner. That allows them to challenge me when necessary, help us see around corners and bring financial discipline to decisions without losing sight of the realities of actually running the company. 

At this point, I consider the team a member of our leadership team and a trusted advisor personally. That level of trust is difficult to replicate.

Nothing material comes to mind. Like any advisory relationship, the more transparent you are and the more consistently you engage, the more value you get from it. Vessel has consistently pushed us toward both.

Interview all office staff on what they did and how long it took to do each item they were responsible for.  Look at the info collected and see what areas didn't align with industry standards.  Clean up books, redo chart of accounts, change banks, change credit cards, update all finance related procedures, generate useful finanicals for staff and board.

Reduced finance related spend by 20%, increased efficiency by 25 percent in financial segment of business.

The Vessel Advisors team did an excellent job of doing an intensive assessment that yielded an invaluable Heat Map which was used to zero in on many elements lacking in the company’s business model. This roadmap became essential to fold in an implementation plan that married up to the structure of the research.

I feel that the team could have incorporated more date sensitive content for the overall team to achieve on a weekly and monthly basis.
