While email communication was very thorough, sometimes meetings/calls are good to ensure complete alignment. Monthly, or even quarterly check-ins may have been a good idea.

I’m Marketing Manage of an influencer marketing company, based in Shanghai and I focus on drive B2B leads & increase brand awareness among the market.

How did you select Tribe China?

Found on Google search, then had nice impression on the first call.

It took 2-3 meetings at the beginning to educate the vendor to understand our business and the objective. Then they came back really fast with their service, the agreement and quotation. They're working with us bi-weekly for Press writing, media pitch and press distribution.

The media list been adjusted few times at the first time, and then it all goes well.

As a result, we had 2 press released to 10-30 digital media every month; they also supported us to deliver our rebranding message & Softbank investment announcement to the market with 100+ media.

I’m the founder of a social group app that’s preparing to launch soon.

What challenge were you trying to address with Tribe China?

We needed to do market research for the Chinese market.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Tribe China compiled a report for us about our industry. At first, we had an initial consultation call so they could get an exact outline of what we needed. They did market and competitor analysis, social media and influencer reports, and found potential venture capitalists. They did a complete market overview that they handed to me in a very well-written 23-page report.

What is the team composition?

We just worked with the owner.

How did you come to work with Tribe China?

I found them on Fiverr. There were a handful of companies that provided this work, but the way Tribe China represented themselves in their profile was very professional. Also, the type of work they did and the things that they covered were more extensive than the other options.

How much have you invested with them?

We spent about $8,000 on this project.

What is the status of this engagement?

The engagement lasted from February–March 2021.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We’re able to execute our business based on the report they gave me with the exact intel that we need. They provided everything we wanted and more. We now have all the information we need in order to know what steps to take when we launch in China.

I told them I wanted them to potentially help me execute the marketing strategy that they wrote for us because we need help to do that. I think they were a very solid hire for us.

How did Tribe China perform from a project management standpoint?

They were excellent. They delivered faster than we originally thought; they said it was going to be three weeks and the project took them only 12 days. Also, communication was direct; we used Fiverr and WeChat.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Despite them being based in China, there was no problem in communication whatsoever. They were very professional, and I felt like I was doing business with a local consultant. They completely understood what we needed and over-delivered in the report.

It was a good deal too. If I hired an American company, I can’t say I would’ve gotten the same quality work for that amount of money because they’re not physically located in China. They over-delivered on scheduling, communication, and price; I was thoroughly impressed. We would consider asking them to become a long-term marketing partner for our company.

Are there any areas they could improve?

It’d be great if they could delineate more on the services they provide, but I know that’s hard because usually marketing consulting is customized. Apart from that, I don’t think there’s anything they could’ve done better; nothing was missing, and they were professional. 

Any advice for potential customers?

If you’re a company trying to get to China and you need a marketing strategy and research, definitely consider Tribe China because they’re great. They’re also very transparent so they’ll let you know whether they can do something or not. You’ll be very impressed with the results you’ll get from hiring them. As I said earlier, they over-deliver.
