BACKGROUND

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m a brand manager at Birth From Earth, a large cosmetic brand. We have hair and skincare solutions for the African demographic.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with TMA Brand Consulting?

We were trying to reintroduce ourselves into the market, and we needed help with our rebranding. We basically wanted a new look and feel for our brand.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

TMA Brand Consulting helped us to redefine our brand identity from the visual elements to the external and internal branding. We had a kickoff meeting with them to discuss what we wanted. We shared samples of local and international brands that we wanted to align with. They got back to us with samples. From there, we went back and forth until the design was what we were looking for.

They designed a new logo and helped us establish our brand guidelines such as the topography and colors we would use. They also designed the brand assets for marketing collateral and normal brand collateral like ID cards, business cards, and letterheads. We didn’t change much about our brand’s mission — it was more about our brand identity.

TMA Brand Consulting designed and developed our new website as well. This task included backend and UI/UX development. They built our website from scratch and used the cPanel platform. We came up with the content for the website and shared it with them along with samples of what we wanted. They completed the design process from end to end.

They also implemented digital marketing campaigns, social media ads, YouTube video ads, and search engine ads centered around our brand’s display.

What is the team composition?

There were five people working on my project. The CEO was our project manager, and we had a digital marketing manager, a graphic artist, a graphic designer, and someone else working on the website.

How did you come to work with TMA Brand Consulting?

We looked at different proposals from the different people we reached out to, and TMA Brand Consulting’s proposal was the most exciting one. We looked at their track record and the work they’d done, and we were interested in working with them.

How much have you invested with them?

We spent less than $10,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked together from December 2020–April 2021.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The digital marketing campaign was an added value, and it’s still going on. So far, the results have been good. We’ve seen a significant improvement in our followership, and we experienced an over 30% growth in our followers’ engagement. We’ve also had over 20% increase in our sales leads and conversions since the start of the campaign. I enjoyed working with TMA Brand Consulting — their work was exceptional, and we received good value for our money.

How did TMA Brand Consulting perform from a project management standpoint?

TMA Brand Consulting’s project management was excellent. We communicated via WhatsApp, Slack, Zoom, and email.

What did you find most impressive about them?

TMA Brand Consulting’s technical know-how and ability to have a full grasp of the project’s scope of work was impressive. They supported us on several other aspects of the business and the relaunch, and they added value beyond the scope of their work.

Are there any areas they could improve?

TMA Brand Consulting should invest more in digital marketing solutions. As much as we were able to meet our expectations, the digital marketing side of their involvement could have had more investment in comparison to the rebranding and website development value they offered.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Let TMA Brand Consulting take the initiative. Being micromanaged isn’t what works best for them. Allow the project and brand managers to really take ownership of the project.
