AKI is a private family run business head quartered in the UAE with over 5,000 employees across 8 business verticals and 7 support functions. As the General Manager, I am responsible for ensuring all administrative roles across the group are filled meeting strict budgets and deadlines.

Tiger Recruitment Ltd (Tiger) were appointed to fill multiple business support vacancies in 2021 and 2022 inc Secretary, PA, EA, Office Manager & General Manager roles across the group with limited noticed and a strict brief. They worked within tight budgets, despite being given only a few weeks' notice.

SOLUTION

How did you select this firm and what were the deciding factors?

Tiger stood out from all other agencies from the start based on their super-efficient team, fast turnarounds and most importantly their excellent candidates. Tiger had the best candidates to offer in this small market and provided transparency and professional guidance throughout.

Describe the project in detail and walk through their service package.

Tiger were tasked to source top quality candidates from the local market, and they emailed their terms of business and how they manage the process. The process started with a face to face meeting with the Head of Tiger MENA so she can better understand the company, it's position in the UAE, office environment, internal structure, staffing etc. The JD was discussed in detail alongside the budget, followed by their screening process and interview formalities.

Once both parties were aligned, Tiger shared candidate CVs ever 2-3 days by email accompanied with a candidate description and their expectations. This was a great help as it pre-emptied our questions. Interviews were scheduled efficiently by Tiger based on our availability and all candidates had been pre-briefed and attended on time. Second round interviews were recommended by Tiger for shortlisted candidates followed by an assessment. Candidates were not contacted directly and only through Tiger which maintained a streamline process from start to finish. Excellent process overall.

I worked with Zahra, Head of Tiger Recruitment MENA on the majority of the vacancies since they were sensitive.

Can you share any outcomes from the engagement that demonstrate progress or success?

One of the factors that streamlined the recruitment process was meeting with the Head of Tiger MENA face to face as she was able to obtain a very clear understanding on the role and candidate requirements directly from the business unit.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Communication with Tiger was fluid from start to finish. Tiger were extremely efficient by email and telephone and had an effective follow up system to ensure none of their CV's or emails were overlooked. They always checked if we were available for a telephone call before calling knowing our busy schedules.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Tiger Recruitment Ltd. was extremely flexible and since the Principle and I travelled a lot they were able to work around our schedules which were in different time zones. They were also very accommodating when the brief/JD changed for one of the vacancies.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Ideally, if Tiger expand across Europe with offices in Spain, France, Switzerland etc. all my recruitment challenges would be resolved, as I would love to use them in other countries I represent!

We needed coverage for our in-house reception team during the holidays.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Tiger Recruitment Ltd. provides coverage for our team when they are out for holidays or other events. I call Rosanna (Team Leader – Business Support Division) whenever we need coverage. She then quickly provides us with staff to augment our team since she already knows our staffing requirements. She determines which candidates to send to us for interviews based on the CVs they provide. Once I receive the candidates’ information, I oversee the recruitment process.

Since I’m in charge of the administration work at the company, I usually train the candidates Tiger Recruitment Ltd. provides on how to execute their tasks. Those tasks often include monitoring incoming and outgoing mail and organizing customer meetings and conferences. The training program lasts 1–2 months, and candidates slowly become more autonomous depending on their abilities.

We used to have another recruitment agency, but they weren’t providing the services we needed. So, after finding Tiger Recruitment Ltd., I reached out and hired them. I liked the way they responded to my requests.

I haven’t had any issues working with Tiger Recruitment Ltd. — I'm happy as long as I get what I need from them. They’re usually able to find candidates that meet our needs and integrate well into our workflows — I’m happy with the partnership.

Tiger Recruitment Ltd. definitely meets our deadlines and stays within budget. Rosanna responds promptly to my messages and is very hands-on; we communicate through emails and phone calls. I prefer phone calls, however. I also provide Tiger Recruitment Ltd. and the candidates we’re working with direct feedback when necessary.

How did you select Tiger Recruitment Ltd.?

They had good reviews online and were very straight forward and clear in what they could do for us. Very proactive afterwards in making sure we had everything we needed and the project was on track.

On short-term notice we had to source detailed information for more ~700 products from different brands that the client was supposed to provide themselves. This means we needed extra hands quickly, that could work structured and with minimal oversight.

Due to increased workload we wanted to speed up hiring. We needed help sifting through hundreds of CV to find profiles matching our requirements to speed up the process and screen candidates quicker.

We got 6 analysts to help us with the data capture and one of those doubled as an HR assistant.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Tiger moves very fast; we quickly had candidates coming over and within a week we had people helping out. They worked with minimal oversight and after initial project set up, they coordinated among themselves and completed all the work before we needed to deliver it and to a high standard.

Very easy, they're always easy to reach and have a no-nonsense approach to getting things done.

The speed at which they got everything arranged was impressive. It went very fast with as little fuss as possible.

We had a communication snafu regarding the type of invoices, but that was resolved easily once pointed out.

Tiger has always sent us CVs that match our requirement and they have always been able to send these promptly. We have worked with Tiger even before I joined Purcell.

Describe the engagement in detail.

We were looking to hire a temporary worker/contracted staff via Tiger, this was a role Marketing Assistant role which we needed with a immediate start. I reached out to Tiger and they were able to send CVs which match our requirement and team fit, and able to turn this vacancy around very quickly.

What was the team composition?

We work closely with Cai Pike and Danielle Foster. Cai provides service for the permanent roles and Danielle works in the temporary division. They have both been great and approachable.

We originally hired the person as a temporary contract for 4 weeks, very shortly we changed her to a permanent contract and she is now still with us. This candidate exceeded our expectations.

I initially check in with the manager every 2 weeks to ensure this person is settling in well. I have always had great feedback and therefore we decided to change her contract to permanent. Now she remains with us as a valuable employee.

They know what are requirements were, I was able to communicate effectively with Tiger every time. They send CVs that match our team and business needs.

We’ve been very impressed with the quality of candidates that we’ve been provided. I recommended them to our firm as an alternative to the New York-based recruiters that we tend to default to. They brought us just as strong — if not stronger — candidates compared to the other local recruiters we’ve been working with.

We’re still engaged with other recruiting firms, but there hasn’t been any overlap. They’ve independently sourced exceptional candidates, which is also impressive.

My point of contact has been an exceptional communicator. She regularly checks in with me and the other operations director that’s on this project. She’s extremely responsive and constantly feeding us opportunities to meet with different people. She collects feedback from both sides after our meetings to clarify her sense of what we’re looking for. It’s been an exceptional experience.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They’re incredibly confident in their ability to be hands-on in matching employers with recruits. They listen intently to feedback to zero in on what will make the difference. That informs how they curate their next batch of candidates that they bring forward. I’ve never had to repeat myself because of how detail-oriented and thoughtful they are.
