BACKGROUND
Introduce your business and what you do there.
Anthony: I’m the marketing director of Lumelight, an insurance company. We handle the complexities of benefits compliance and administration, empowering our clients to focus on what they do best.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
What challenge were you trying to address with Taillight?
Anthony: We needed an entire rebrand. We had just merged six individual companies and needed to come up with a unified company brand.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
Anthony: Taillight handled everything from research to positioning, identity, and web design. The team delivered brand positioning, supporting brand pillars, brand story, tone of voice guidelines, messaging matrix, tagline, naming and design roadmap, and two rounds of name presentations.
Taillight presented logo options and refined them. The team also created visual identity elements, such as color palette, typography, and basic applications. Taillight delivered a brand book with a style guide, website content, design, coding, and launch. The team created presentation content and templates and developed an internal and external launch strategy, roadmap, and support.
Taillight also created marketing assets, such as e-newsletters, brochures, and social media templates.
What is the team composition?
Anthony: We had three main people from Taillight that we interfaced with. They were supported by a team that we didn’t interact with.
How did you come to work with Taillight?
Anthony: We found Taillight through a referral. We conducted a thorough RFP process with seven candidate firms. Taillight gave the best finalist presentation and was very competitive on price.
What is the status of this engagement?
Anthony: The project kicked off in October 2024, and we launched the new brand in June 2025.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Anthony: The brand launched in June 2025, to near-universal acclaim from our internal and external stakeholders. Taillight built our website for less than half the cost of what was budgeted and about three months ahead of schedule.
The brand positioning has been mentioned by numerous external stakeholders to be exactly in line with what they need. Our net followers on social media have increased by 2,709% since the launch. The unified brand was a strategic necessity and one of the many integration steps happening at the same time. The biggest impact it has had so far is to be a rallying point for internal stakeholders to feel like they are all a part of one company.
How did Taillight perform from a project management standpoint?
Anthony: We were on a very tight timeline. We needed to build and launch the entire new brand in six months. Because of the nature of our legacy businesses, there were a lot of perspectives that needed to be taken into account as we advanced the project. Taillight was highly regarded by everyone and overachieved in helping to gain consensus and advance the project ahead of schedule.
Taillight’s project management was nothing short of stellar. I’m trying to poach our project manager at Taillight to come and work for me.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Anthony: Taillight delivered a top-notch work product when given often convoluted or incomplete input from our side. The team delivered more than was promised. Most importantly, they became a part of the team, helping sort through the politics and being a sounding board when things got heavy. I have a hard time believing this project would have been as successful — or as fun — if we had done it with anyone else.
Are there any areas they could improve?
Anthony: There’s nothing I can come up with.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Anthony: I couldn’t recommend Taillight highly enough. Through the process, they became a part of our team and were always willing to go above and beyond.
