I am the founder, CEO, and lead investor of a logistics company in Chicago.

What challenge were you trying to address with Storyview LLC?

We had a complex marketing story that involved new technology. I had a 3D animation studio build renderings to simulate our products because they weren't fully built yet. Once the studio finished the 3D renderings and animations, I needed someone to help create the actual marketing videos.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Storyview LLC is helping us create the story around the 3D renderings. They’ve produced videos to introduce the technology and the problem we were looking to solve with them. Alongside the renderings, they selected graphics, music, and stock footage to complement the video.

They are a full-service video shop and can do everything from soup to nuts. The team has helped us write scripts, shoot videos, find talents both on- and off-camera, select music, record voice-overs, edit, and export them. They're able to put together a whole suite of distribution sizes of video formats, all the way from small email attachments to full-size versions. Overall, they’ve delivered three marketing videos. The team continues to create videos for us.

I work with three people, which includes two principals. 

How did you come to work with Storyview LLC?

A friend referred them. We considered three firms, who I interviewed. After telling them what my product was and what I was trying to accomplish with the marketing videos, I allowed them to brainstorm with me for an hour. Storyview LLC clearly outperformed the other two — they picked up on what I wanted quickly, and they had clever ideas that were far better than the others. It was a no-brainer because they were very impressive from the start. 

How much have you invested with them?

Overall, we’ve spent $50,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together around April 2019, and it’s ongoing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Storyview LLC’s work has received rave reviews from new clients and prospects on the field. The videos are featured on our YouTube channel, and they've been getting a good amount of hits. All of their deliverables have been very strong, so it’s a no-brainer that we’re still working with them.

We consider their work to be the most crucial part of our marketing efforts. People think we're a much larger, more established company because of our high-quality marketing videos — our product looks very finished, even though it's still just a prototype. Even though we're still a startup, we're able to present ourselves as a more sophisticated and developed company primarily because these videos make us look so good. 

How did Storyview LLC perform from a project management standpoint?

I'm not sure what tool they use for project management, but they're very responsive — we utilize everything from phone calls and texts to Zoom calls. They have never missed a deadline, which is unusual in the field. If they have to, they will even work late into the night to finish their work. 

Getting and exchanging files is very easy — they're very savvy when it comes to uploading and downloading files. The team provided us a lot of Dropbox and web hosting tools. In terms of their progress, they’ve been excellent about showing us previews by teaching us how to use temporary links for unfinished work. Overall, they're responsible, clever, and hardworking. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

They're just incredibly sophisticated. For a three-person team, Storyview LLC has an impressive client list, including some large companies. They've given us great advice and feedback. The price is also very reasonable for the great work they provide. Unlike many creative agencies we've worked with previously, they've never imposed any additional charges on us. It's a perfect combination of customer service, affordability, creativity, and hands-on access to principals. 

If you didn't know that they were a small team, you would think they were a much larger agency. Since they handle video production, they can hire out other resources if the job requires it. They could put together a 10-person crew if a client needs it. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

They could expand their team. I plan on having Storyview LLC do more work when I have the budget for it, but they're busy right now due to a big eight-week project. However, it's up to them how much work they want to take on.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Start with an interview process — don't just ask for their price and availability, but listen to their ideas and see how they plan on collaborating with you. That process really helped me determine if they were a good fit.
