Describe the scope of work in detail. Please include a summary of key deliverables.

Our company consulted with Step 2 Engineering to redesign our custom medical device (incremental dosing injector). Step 2 Engineering performed a re-design of our custom injection-molded parts for (a) design for improve part appearance, (b) design for improved functionality, c) design for manufacturability - injection molding, and d) design for assembly - ultrasonic welding. Step 2 provided full engineering drawing specifications and models for the project. Step 2 continues to support the project on an ongoing basis.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Step 2 has particularly impressed me with their  attention to detail. Step 2 takes detailed notes during meetings to ensure that customer expectations are understood and delivered upon.

Are there any areas for improvement or something STEP 2 ENGINEERING could have done differently?

I do not have any recommendations, Step 2 and they have met all expectations.

Describe the scope of work in detail. Please include a summary of key deliverables.

Step2engineering was originally hired for spring calculation I was using in my prototypes.  Matthew delivered extremely quick and advised me I needed a different type of spring for what I was trying to accomplish.  He then recommended he provide me with some new design options to accomplish what I was trying to achieve in my pedal design.  

I hired them for the preliminary design options and which they provided a few choices.

After meetings and design consulations they were then hired to design my pedal.  A final pedal design was provided provided, I had the protypes made of this design for testing.  Testing went well, but we then created a one piece production model. After small changes it went to production.

Matthew also informed me of a International Safety Standards Test required for the pedal if i sold it internationally which I am and they provided a design around this criteria.

since original design they have designed 3 other models for me and presently working on an excercise pedal model. 

some bonus deliverables I recieved, was mathew was in the country of the manufurer of my pedals and he offered to visit to the manufacturer location for me, meet the owners and manufacturing personal to verify if it was a good manufacturing company and validate thier facility.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Pedal works exceptionally well!  From passing international safety standards test to field testing and my brutal test lab it meets and exceeds all expections.

Customers and testers are extremely satisfied as this Pedal has resolved an issue of biomechanical allignment of foot, knee and ankle with out clipping in to the pedal. For info the Pedal was invented 180 years ago and has not change in its basic operation untill now.

Step2engineering responds extremely quickly. Most the time would have a meeting in same day.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

I started with Matthew’s initial response and analysis of a spring on a weekend, which immediately set the tone for this company. At the time, I had already been in contact with several other engineering firms, but I couldn’t find one that applied common sense to analyze my spring. I'm amazed by their depth of engineering knowledge and their experience in manufacturing and design. From plastics to all metals, rubbers, material load capabilities, lubrications, coatings, and the "do’s and don’ts" of manufacturing, they cover it all.

Their team even provides graphic design services, including both still images and dynamic videos.

Step2Engineering is truly a one-stop shop, and I firmly believe you could put them up against the biggest engineering firms and come out ahead, thanks to their practical approach and extensive manufacturing experience.
