At the time of this project, we did not have the talent available to perform this work. As such, one of our other executives who has been in the ecommerce space for over a decade, had experience with SoftLoft from a previous company. I was told by my counterpart that SoftLoft was a bunch of "rock stars." We chose to work with SoftLoft after one of our Magento experts interviewed their team. My counterpart was correct. These guys were rock stars. In fact, several of them had actually worked at Magento in the core engineering team. That finding made the decision much easier.

SoftLoft took care of the whole project with input and guidenace form our project management team. The project started with an audit of the client’s legacy system. This included identifying the key modules and features, highlighting the biggest issues with the previous solution. One of the biggest challenges was migrating the data. The reason is that the data structure in the new target system was quite different from the legacy system.
The SoftLoft developers handled the ETL activities very well. Now, our client has a fully functional Magento store with the features they needed. Most important, the client's users say that the site provides a great user experience.

The SoftLoft team was comprised of 7 specialists: a business analyst, 2 Magento backend developers, 2 Magento front-end developers and 2 QA engineers. My compnay provided the project management (PM) resource.

SoftLoft is a great ecommerce agency. They used a hybrid methodology that leaned toward agile. The teams had regular standups and demonstrations at the end of each sprint. What worked really well is the fact that the business analyst and PM worked on collecting and scoping requirements for future sprints while the dev team worked. We received regular burndown reports and could easily track the progress of the project. Communications were good. Overall the project ran smoothly and the status of deliverables was transparent.

We had kickoff meetings, detailed estimation process, weekly stand ups meetings with retrospective of each sprint with good communication in Slack and email. Dev process was organised according to best Agile’s practise.

The projects are delivered in time, with good performance and best coding practise used.

I liked that the SoftLoft team always communicated clearly about any possible risks, which was how they prevented them. Their technical skills were also very good.

They should work more with the Mgroup team.

We had a lot of project deadlines coming up but a shortage of e commerce developers. So we hired SoftLoft developers to fill up that shortage and ensure that we would meet the deadlines.

I have not been involved in the selecting of this vendor so I cannot provide insight into the selection or decision process.

The Softloft developers took part in a wide range of development activities and took on anything we threw at them. The main techniques they've used while working with us were ReactJs, NextJs and Bigcommerce(stencil).

We worked with 1-3 developers, depending on our needs. They were experienced developers that became part of our existing e commerce development team. The process of scaling the number of developers up and down according to our needs went quite smooth.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?
The addition of SoftLoft developers led to our team largely meeting the deadlines that were set for us. After meeting the deadlines we were satisfied enough to keep them as part of the team for longer since we still had more projects. The quality of their work was great. They delivered good code, were able to work very independently but were also not afraid to ask for help or more information when it was required. Despite the big geographical distance it felt like they were genuine full-fledged team members.

The management of their team performance was great. Softloft regularly scheduled calls with us to check in and hear about the results of their developers and to ask for possible improvements. When an issue came up they were quick to resolve it.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
They had an impressive ability to adapt to our way of coding and our way of teamwork very quickly.
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
We were very satisfied with the developers of SoftLoft, the only area of improvement that I can think of is that their developers don't have a great command of the English language. It was good enough to make things work but sometimes some extra effort was required to understand each other.

At our kick-off meeting we knew we were in the right place with the right people. The project has had several key stages starting with the MVP. The project is carried out iteratively, each iteration is 45 days. We have moved from the most critical features to the least critical ones so far.

We worked with 2 Back end developers, 1 Front end developer, and 1 QA within the first 6 months. Later the project was extended.

At the time being it is hard to make any evaluation conclusions as the project has not been completed yet.

Communication is very transparent. Project manager is patient and responsive to our needs. They're always on time when it comes to deliverables. If any delays occur, we are always given heads up. The team uses Jira mostly.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
I remember the time when one of the developers was unexpectedly gone for a long-term sick leave, and he was replaced within 10 days. I am also impressed with their willingness to find and improve solutions regardless of their complexity.
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
At the beginning of our cooperation, the time zones seemed to be a stumbling stone, but we managed to accommodate them with ease.
