Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the founder and CEO of a real estate brokerage company. It’s a family of companies. We’re a real estate brokerage, education licensing company, and development company.

What challenge were you trying to address with Sidhom Accounting and Tax Consultants?

I needed a one-stop-shop tax and accounting services solution for my family of businesses since a lot of them are interconnected somehow. 

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We needed expert-level accounting to navigate through a real estate brokerage that has over 50 associates, a real estate licensing school that gets a ton of enrollments, and a real estate development company that gets very complicated if you’re dealing with an inexperienced accountant.

In addition to that, they also provide the same services to a media company that we have in-house. They also manage my personal and my partners’ tax matters and preparation. Their services just expand as we grow and open up more lines of business. They are there to set us up and help us with everything that we need.

How did you come to work with Sidhom Accounting and Tax Consultants?

They were recommended by one of our partners when we were in search of a new firm that could handle a more expert level accounting. My partners and I started to go on the hunt to find someone and one of our partners had found them and vetted them.  

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve probably spent $20,000–$30,000. 

What is the status of this engagement?

We began collaborating in December 2017, and we continue to work with them.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

I would not be able to disclose statistics or metrics because it’s a financial one and it would expose our financials to the public, so I would just say that they do an excellent job. Our companies have been growing 20% each year, so we need someone who could handle that type of growth. We’ve been really satisfied with their services. 

How did Sidhom Accounting and Tax Consultants perform from a project management standpoint?

They use QuickBooks, which is great because that’s what we use. They also have some internal management tools, but we don’t have access to those. I know they use all kinds of complicated software, but on our end, we use QuickBooks and we just want to make sure they can interpret them and work with them — and they’re able to do that. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their expertise distinguishes them from other providers. We appreciate that they can handle the complexity of multiple businesses that are interconnected. They’ve handled over a million dollars in revenue and they have the capacity to figure out all the planning required around that. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

The main CPA could get a little busy, between the month of February and mid-April. I know that those months are the busiest time and it’s very hard in the entire industry to schedule quality time because they have to serve a high volume of people before the April 15th deadline. I think that’s an area for every single accountant that needs improvement because that’s a universal issue for me. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

If you need a company that can handle over a million dollars in revenue, Sidhom is a company you can go to. Moreover, if you want to have peace of mind when it comes to taxes and obligations to the IRS, you need to approach them early. Have your bank statements, expenses, and receipts ready. You can also trust them with access to your accounts if you want to make your life easier. That way, they can go and download your statements and speed you up a little bit. 

Go to them with all your problems and don’t hide anything. They’ll definitely take care of you.
