Describe the scope of work in detail. Please include a summary of key deliverables.

We needed a senior Go backend engineer who could quickly take over a large part of our backend roadmap, all on a live production system running on MariaDB without breaking existing check-in and check-out flows. Shore Scale provided Go backend development and consulting. Yehor worked directly in our GitLab, Jira and weekly dev syncs and delivered over about 2.5 months:

• A data model and API for mobile coat racks: inventory units, placing and moving racks in a cloakroom, releasing them back to inventory, reordering racks within a row, and editing rack sides.
• A refactor of our cloakroom model from areas to rows, including booking checked-in items into rows and across the whole cloakroom in walking order.
• A rebuild of the receipt API: QR-code and email delivery, VAT rate and language per country instead of hard-coded Germany, receipt texts managed in the database, and admin endpoints to manage them.
• Blocking of selected QR codes as check-in identifiers, item position in the visitor search, and a new device configuration flag for receipts after check-out.
• Several production bug fixes, help with hotfixes and releases, and advice on keeping time-dependent data in MariaDB consistent.

At the end of the engagement he ran a structured handover of all backend topics to our team.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Every feature on the list went to production within the engagement. Mobile coat racks, the row-based cloakroom model and the new receipt system are now in place, and the receipt system is ready for other countries than Germany. Each feature came with integration tests and regression checks, so releases went smoothly.

Describe their project management. Did they deliver items on time? How did they respond to your needs?

Very effective. Yehor worked in our tools and processes from day one, delivered large features in small, reviewable parts, and answered review comments quickly. Communication was clear and proactive.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

We were impressed by how fast he became productive in a complex domain. Within the first weeks he was shipping features that touched the core of our system, and the code was clean, well tested and easy for our team to take over.

Are there any areas for improvement or something Shore Scale could have done differently?

Hardly any. Early on it took a few days to align on our internal conventions, but Yehor picked them up quickly.
