I’m a consultant at Consult Avenue. We help startups and multinational companies set up subsidiaries in India. When our clients first come to India, they’re unaware of the laws and regulations; therefore, we help them do an initial setup from the technical, banking, and legal perspectives.

What challenge were you trying to address with SHOOLIN CONSULTANCY?

One of our German clients wanted to set up his IT infrastructure in the southern part of India. Therefore, we needed someone local to help us with the registration services and other compliances because we didn’t have an office there.

What was the scope of their involvement?

SHOOLIN CONSULTANCY helps us with the local labor compliance required to set up subsidiaries in the southern part of India. They handle the professional tax registration and social contribution for employers and employees. We have to be physically present to submit the paperwork and justify our case in order to get the authorities’ approval. They take care of this process for us.

Additionally, they help us translate documents from English to the regional language because we don’t know anyone there and the language is a barrier sometimes.

What is the team composition?

We work with two people on this project. One takes care of the documentation process, and the other is our liaison with the authorities.

How did you come to work with SHOOLIN CONSULTANCY?

We did an online search for the top consultants in the southern part of India. We contacted 3–4 of them and requested appointments. SHOOLIN CONSULTANCY was reasonable in terms of pricing, but they weren’t inexpensive. However, they called us to explain each point in detail, which gave us the confidence to work with them.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent $2,500.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked working from May–October 2020. Then, we had another requirement for them in January 2021, and that’s still ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Before working with SHOOLIN CONSULTANCY, we used to turn down any queries from clients who wanted to set up in the southern part of India. Now that they’re our partners, we subcontract every work we get to them. They’re exceptional, and their help has been very beneficial for us since we don’t have a presence in that region.

How did SHOOLIN CONSULTANCY perform from a project management standpoint?

We communicate through email. We also have a WhatsApp group that we use with a couple of clients.

What did you find most impressive about them?

We were unsure how the market worked when we were expanding to other jurisdictions, but it was good to find someone who could help us. SHOOLIN CONSULTANCY saves us a lot of time and headaches.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Everything’s good, and my clients are happy. There can be hiccups sometimes, but we’re okay with it. We don’t have any comparisons to any other company.
