Our Story

Vanja and Andjela founded The Shadow Legacy in January 2015. Two directors, eleven years, five clients at a time. Everything the studio makes is made by the people whose names are on it. The name comes from a line Vanja wrote down years before the studio existed: building well established, legacy brands that live on long after we are gone. Legacy beats trend, perception is a commercial instrument, and nothing ships until it survives both of us.

Co-founder and art director. For eleven years she has decided which brands are ready to leave the shadows. Exacting about craft, allergic to good enough: nothing ships until it is unmistakable.

Co-founder and creative director. Drawing since he was seven, building brands ever since: identity, web, packaging, and AI systems. He judges every brand as an investment, built to still make sense in ten years.

Stephen Hilgart

Obsessed Strategist. Former head trainer for Tony Robbins. He came to the studio as a client, saw the work from the buying side, and stayed: he sharpens the strategy before the design work starts.
